also im having bowel problems ie i get crampy/colicy stomach pains followed by loose movements, sorry not nice i know.

My doctor suggested that I have the rectocele surgery repair. I'm hesitating because I've heard horror stories about the recovery and pain afterwards (from other posting sites and my Mom as well who had the surgery 15 years ago). I've been navigating this site and it seems like people here are not spreading fear. Just how bad was the surgery and post op? Thanks.

I have been in your shoes, I had a hysterectomy, already had problems with a ovarian cyst,,Dr refused to remove ovary. A year later ovary was so bad it was attached to my bowel with endometrosis tissue. Im not a dr, but I am going to make a educated guess and say it really sounds like a cyst,,all possibiltys must be told to all patients. Usually a ovarian absess is actually in the tube near the top where eggs are released. A hematoma is possible but less common.

Constipation is common after hysterectomy due to the displacement of the bowel which of course can cause hemorrhoids. And as Dr. Wanjari mentioned, vaginal atrophy can cause pain with intercourse. But the shortening of the vagina with hysterectomy (with removal of cervix) can also be a source of pain.
