Hysterectomy procedure surgery

Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy procedure surgery

hysterectomy

Avatar n tn Is this a contraindication for proceeding with the surgery or can this procedure occur at any time during the menstrual cycle?
Avatar m tn I had a salpingo oopherectomy on both sides, a hysterectomy as well as a appendectomy on February 5th 2013. I am 27 years old. Since the procedure was done I have had severe lower abdominal pain while urinating. I have been very sick. Does anyone have an idea of what this pain is from?
Avatar n tn I have a fibroid about the size of a grapefruit on my uterus and at least 2 smaller ones. My doctor was going to try the procedure wherein they go in and cut off the blood supply to the fibroid when she thought it was just one. Now that she has learned through an ultrasound that there are multiple fibroids, she said that procedure is not an option as it would basically cut off the blood supply to the uterus if they did that for each fibroid.
Avatar f tn The cervix is usually removed as well, and that entire procedure is called a total hysterectomy. There are two ways to do the surgery. The old-fashioned method is called a Total Abdominal Hysterectomy, or TAH, meaning the work is done through an abdominal incision. Recovery time is easily 6 to 8 weeks. A Total Vaginal Hysterectomy (TVH) means the uterus and cervix are removed through the vagina.
Avatar n tn Is it possible???? I had a Hysterectomy and after surgery I could not move my bowels for at least 3 weeks!! The doctor told me that sometimes our organs don't wake up right away after surgery. Well it became worst as weeks and months went on. I was rushed to the hospital 4 months after surgery, I was having a difficult time breathing. I was admitted and test were done. I was backed up with poop, and had to have an enema, which really did not do much.
Avatar f tn they were all great but I am still scared that I will never feel normal again. This is my fourth surgery in seven years including a complete hysterectomy. This is my first attempt at excision and I could use some reassurance from any of you who have had success with this surgery....thanks!
Avatar n tn t want to go through a surgical procedure and then end up having to have a hysterectomy in the long run. Naturally, I also don't want to have a hysterectomy and end up with complications and am really afraid of menopause. Any advise you might have would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn I understand that you want the hysterectomy due to BRCA issues. But it's still an elective procedure. Perhaps you could postpone the surgery for a year or two, until the baby is less likely to have to be picked up constantly. With regular monitoring, you should be okay. Caught early, ovca is curable. Just a thought.
Avatar f tn They also did the bladder sling procedure because of a prolapse. She developed a serious infection around the sling procedure and was treated with antibiotics. She also developed an over active bladder. The urogynecologist said there is no fistula, but rather her bladder has become over active because of the hysterectomy and the sling procedure. She also said that it is a temporary condition, but put her on Detrol. Her condition had not improved. In fact, it seems to be worse.
Avatar f tn please read up on just do a on-line search) a procedure called the DaVinci Robotic hysterectomy its the very best method out there..less bleeding, scaring, easier for both Dr and patient. I had this method and I have just four very small as in 1/4 inch scars on abdomen..yes it is a serious surgery. However in many cases and it sounds like in your case once done and past the 6 week healing it is soooooo very nice to be pain free.
Avatar f tn Sometimes a hysterectomy includes removal of one or both ovaries and fallopian tubes, a procedure called total hysterectomy with salpingo-oophorectomy. Abdominal hysterectomy usually requires a hospital stay of one to two days, but it could be longer. Don't lift anything heavy for a full six weeks after the operation and also avoid strenuous exercise and intercourse for 6 weeks after the operation.
10123610 tn?1408029225 its easy you will need a surgery , my mom just had one the hysterectomy it went fine , she better now , and no bleeding anymore , its better to get rid of it cause cyst can be real painful and they keep on growing, you will just need to take leave one ovary so your hormones wont get crazy .
Avatar n tn Just over two weeks ago I had a hysterectomy and bladder repair. I was unable to urinate due to swelling and was sent home after six days with instructions to self-cathetorize. Ive had differering instructions as to how often etc. At the moment, I can urinate between 50 - 150 mls on my own every couple of hours but use the catheter every four hours and the residual is between 100 - 200 mls. How much longer can I expect this to continue?
Avatar f tn What is the surgery for and what surgery are you having?
955491 tn?1253935699 mine lasted eleven (!) hours and my surgical oncologist likened the recovery to that after a liver transplant. I was young (35) and very strong and healthy at the time, and seeking the most aggressive treatment possible, so I was an ideal candidate. Cancer cells die more easily at temperatures above 140o F, whereas normal cells are not weakened at that high temperature.
Avatar n tn Sorry, but I don't know what doctors can and cannot do with the Da Vinci procedure! I had open surgery (laparotomy). I think they can do it all with Da Vinci if you have a well trained surgeon.
506273 tn?1260138781 4, 2009 since then I have had pain. The reason for the procedure was horrible menstral cycles. Now I am scheduled for a hysterectomy Jan. 6. I have been through 2 courses of antibiotics and now have a yeast infection which I am going to treat with monistat. Is this normal? I had a horrible liquid discharge for over a month, now the yeast infection which I'm thinking is from the antibiotics. I have not been comfortable since before the procedure.
525584 tn?1212442543 Hello what2think, :) I just had a full hysterectomy April 18th 6 1/2 weeks ago and I'm 45 years old. I have on my page all my issue's if you'd like to go to my page and catch up. I WILL TELL YOU seeing as you were cleared to go back to work and seem to really want to that I would DEFINATELY FIND OUT if a daVinci Hysterectomy is available anywhere around you. It's the least invasive procedure for surgery and girl.....I will tell you I was COMPLETELY SHOCKED at how well I did.
Avatar f tn I have had no other medical issues before this procedure. after my hysterectomy I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes which we figured out I am definately Type1. No family history of diabetes. I just gradually over the following year dropped 37 lbs, became so weak I couldn"t even climb stairs and my vision was worsening by the day. I have since heard that there is a piece of your pancreas, that if it is snipped the result is diabetes.
Avatar f tn So I went to a new obgyn yesterday with all my records...in tears because it had been a long day. I had to drag my 18 month old daughter with me. The cramping was unbearable. She said she wanted me to see a obgyn endometrosis specialist and discuss either an endromerial ablation or hysterectomy. I just want the hysterectomy and Im telling the doc next week that. Either surgery I can't have kids again. The appointment is next Wednesday at 3.
Avatar f tn However, UFE is done by radiologists not gynecologists. So bottom line, that would be lost business for your gyn. Hysterectomy is very profitable and grossly overused so chances are many gyns will tell you to have a hysterectomy. I had one 10 years ago at age 49 and regret it every day. It is the surgery that keeps on giving "problem after problem." Best of luck in getting information and treatment that restores your health versus causing a whole new set of problems.
Avatar m tn s not necessarily the Hysterectomy I would not have again, it;s rather any surgery at all. I would have done the Hysterectomy at the start had I known the truth about the fibroids. It's after the first surgery that my problems began. For those asking for advice above, the best advice I can give is to go to a knowledgeable Physician re natural hormone replacement therapy.
Avatar n tn As AnnieBrooke stated, a hysterectomy is serious surgery. Personally I wouldn't have both procedures together. A tummy tuck is serious surgery too. I would have the hysterectomy first. Heal from that and than consider a tummy tuck. I'm not a doctor, but having both surgeries together at the same time may be dangerous. I'm surprised a doctor has even agreed to do both at the same time. Do one at a time, not both together. I wish you well.
Avatar f tn Has anyone around my age had this surgery done? Has it helped? Do you recommend this being done? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
