Hysterectomy procedure side effects

Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy procedure side effects

hysterectomy

Avatar n tn I have had Essure since 2009. Bled and clotted so badly I got a D&C and ablation in 2011...bleeding stopped with the Novasure (which wasn't supposed to be performed because of the Essure) but pelvic pain continues and continues to get worse, along with other "side-effects" I was never warned about before getting these things. I am now looking at a hysterectomy thanks to these coils. They produce anything but "normal side-effects" Good luck to you.
8012558 tn?1399308657 I was not told by my doctor about any side effects that essure procedure can cause. The procedure itself was very painful and my doctor didn't give me any pain medication during the procedure. I did essure 5 years ago and since then I have experience nothing but the pain in my pelvic area. Doctor performed laparoscopy thinking it is endometriosis, but after the procedure I was told it was very mild and she was not sure if that was cause of my pain.
10123610 tn?1408029225 It would be a shame to be left with the permanent side effects of ablation, hysterectomy, and/or ovary removal or ovarian failure caused by these surgeries when the symptoms could be managed with a more conservative approach. If you really want the fibroids removed, a surgeon with myomectomy skills (for large fibroids) or hysteroscopic resection of fibroids (for small fibroids) can remove the fibroids leaving your uterus intact.
Avatar n tn I had a hysterectomy and am suffering the many after effects. Knowing what I have since learned and experienced, I would not allow a hysterectomy unless I had cancer that was confirmed by a biopsy. And I would be sure the consent form clearly stated what type of surgery could be done. I hope this info helps!
Avatar f tn I think I read that it is common....I would check into the side effects of detrol too...I can't remember what it was but I know I made them take my husband off that stuff....I think as she heels over time it would get better. I had cystocel rectocel and vaginal repair 4 weeks ago today....I am so much better than before I cannot tell you....I had prolapse.
Avatar f tn I don't know much about UFE except that those "little balls" can migrate to other organs including the lungs and cause serious problems. They can also damage the ovaries since the uterus and ovaries share blood supply. This can lead to an early and/or severe type menopause. Damage to ovaries (or their removal) is associated with many increased health risks and earlier death. Radiologists not gynecologists do UFE.
Avatar n tn Without the side effects of hormones or the risks of hysterectomy, NovaSure has a quick recovery time so you can get back to your life sooner. Most women experience no pain after the procedure, and can return to work and regular activities the next day. i looked it up.
Avatar n tn Hello, my wife had a full hysterectomy approximately 10 years ago and everything was taken out, EVERYTHING. She had a few cysts and her gynecologist suggested a full hysterectomy due to the fact that the cysts could come back if she were to get a a half hysterectomy. Long story short, she's a strong woman who really keeps it together but she has recently expressed that she's been battling depression.
955491 tn?1253935699 The procedure also improves drug absorption and effect with minimal exposure to the rest of the body. In this way, the normal side effects of chemotherapy can be avoided. For detailed information on the HIPEC procedure, visit our articles and abstracts page.
Avatar f tn There are plenty of birth control/hormone drugs that can be tried to reduce symptoms (but be sure you research them before taking because some, like Lupron, have permanent severe side effects that stay even when stopping the drug). And usually excision surgery would be performed before the removal of organs.
Avatar f tn Ladies who undergone hysterectomy or similar procedure, and happy with your surgeon, please help me with referrals! I would prefer Cedars Sinai, but any feedback or suggestions will be appreciated!
1325052 tn?1292962860 side effects depend entirely on what medications you are taking. the procedure itself is painless and easy. how successful depends on your age, your egg quality, sperm quality, etc. Your RE should be able to give you statistics based on your situation.
Avatar n tn It does sound like it would be the best solution. I can see what the doctor means. If they leave the ovaries, at least you wouldn't experience surgical menopause, which can be a bit brutal. But you would say goodbye to your womb. How do you feel about that? It might be a good idea, for the sake of your general health. Fibroids naturally shrink after menopause, and often cause no more trouble, but with the kidney involvement, I would say it's best to have the surgery.
Avatar f tn ve gotten some REALLY good advice regarding the hysterectomy. To undergo a completely unnecessary surgical procedure simply for birth control is far too radical. Since you are in very good health, have had NO problems with the Mirena and it's obviously working, why fix what isn't broken? Why take ANY unnecessary risks with a surgical procedure? My advice is have a new device fitted and let nature takes it's course!
Avatar f tn Does anyone have an opinion about this diagnosis? Does anyone know the side effects to ovary removal in menopause? Does anyone know if the ovaries have a role in women's health in menopause? Thanks for your thoughts on these issues.
1085237 tn?1293760646 I was wandering will there be any side effects to losing just one ovary? I did not get much info from my dr seeing how i was on a morphine drip..lol I do not go back to him untill wed to get my staples removed. And i was wondering if anyone could help me out with a couple questions.
Avatar n tn Hi: I forgot to include this question in my last post. I am postmenopausal (about a year and a half) & am scheduled for a complete hysterectomy. I read a lot about physical/emotion effects of hysterectomies on premenopausal women, but can't find any information about the physical and emotional effect on women who've already gone through menopause. Is there still some hormonal effect on 'p. m.' women?
Avatar f tn s a common procedure, a hysterectomy is major surgery and takes easily 8 weeks to start feeling human again - particularly the open procedure. If lupron hasn't stopped your periods, then something is seriously whacko with your hormones. That's why it might be beneficial to see a hormone specialist (endochrinologist). They can be difficult to find outside a major city, but please think about it before venturing into major surgery.
Avatar n tn There would be no question in my mind to not have the surgery!!! When my sister in law was diagnosed with uterine cancer and died 6 months later, I wanted a total hysterectomy for piece of mind. Of course you can't go to a doctor and just say I want a hysterectomy. Ironically, 3 years later I was dignosed with ovarian cancer!!! Get the surgery!!! Good luck...
212059 tn?1292938529 My doctor wanted me to take Lupron, an injection to stop the ovaries from making estrogen. One of the side effects...you guessed it, heart palpitations. So I thought I'd get ahead of the game by visiting my cardiologist before starting the injections. He hasn't seen me in three years. He did an EKG and echo. Both came back perfectly normal. He also told me that I just might get some extra palps with the Lupron. That was an understatement.
Avatar f tn But the risks and side effects of hysterectomy involve a much longer list than prolapse. I had a hysterectomy 9 years ago and speak from experience as well as the knowledge I have gained since undergoing this damaging surgery. The bladder and bowel descend without the uterus to separate them and hold them in place. Even absent prolapse, this often alters their functions. I experience intense pain when both my bladder and bowel are full. And they sometimes do not empty completely.
Avatar f tn ) totally different from the underlying symptoms necessitating the procedures, a localized back irritation and buzzing and numbness, tingling, and weakness in my right foot and ankle. The new side effects (occurring mainly at night, or when I am fatigued) are a buzzing, throbbling, vibrating, electrical feelings in both legs with resulting exhausted and muscle soreness the next day.
Avatar f tn By the way. I am on 75mg per day of Metoprolol, and have been as high as 200mg with no side effects except sluggishness at the high dose. I'm fine at 75mg and have taken it for 10 years, Now that I reread your post, do you think you're having syncope as a result of the medication of because the of Vtach?
