Hysterectomy procedure recovery

Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy procedure recovery

hysterectomy

Avatar f tn Yes, this is true. It takes that long for the internal parts to heal correctly. You could risk a hernia, or even ripped stitches if you try to do too much too quickly. Laparoscopic is also the procedure with the fastest recovery time. It's that vs. an open procedure. Best wishes.
Avatar m tn If I still need to do some that it will be a laparoscopic hysterectomy recovery time is 2 weeks versus abdominal hysterectomy 8-10 weeks recovery time. God Bless you both and anyone else that's going through this!
Avatar f tn The cervix is usually removed as well, and that entire procedure is called a total hysterectomy. There are two ways to do the surgery. The old-fashioned method is called a Total Abdominal Hysterectomy, or TAH, meaning the work is done through an abdominal incision. Recovery time is easily 6 to 8 weeks. A Total Vaginal Hysterectomy (TVH) means the uterus and cervix are removed through the vagina.
Avatar n tn I have a fibroid about the size of a grapefruit on my uterus and at least 2 smaller ones. My doctor was going to try the procedure wherein they go in and cut off the blood supply to the fibroid when she thought it was just one. Now that she has learned through an ultrasound that there are multiple fibroids, she said that procedure is not an option as it would basically cut off the blood supply to the uterus if they did that for each fibroid.
Avatar f tn The 2nd is to perform a hysterectomy via an incision to my bikini line and leave my right ovary intact. The recovery time is exactly the same which made me feel a hysterectomy is my best option but now I'm having second thoughts. Can someone advise me?
553516 tn?1255867219 I am unaware of legal right outside of the USA, You should as the patient have the right to request a hysterectomy after you have had a long and informed conversation with your doctor. I understand what its like living with severe pain daily that was ultimatley my decision for a hysterectomy plus my uterus was very enlarged,You may have a ovarian cyst.
1510783 tn?1290096307 hi ther I had my hyster for exactly the same reason,,in my years of being cl I think unless its cancer( yours isnt) that the recovery is basically the same regardless of cause because the procedure is the same.... try to find a dr who can do the DaVinci Robotic assisted hyster...
Avatar f tn Obviously, a Hysterectomy or partial is much more invasive and requires a much longer healing process~
Avatar n tn Without the side effects of hormones or the risks of hysterectomy, NovaSure has a quick recovery time so you can get back to your life sooner. Most women experience no pain after the procedure, and can return to work and regular activities the next day. i looked it up.
Avatar f tn please read up on just do a on-line search) a procedure called the DaVinci Robotic hysterectomy its the very best method out there..less bleeding, scaring, easier for both Dr and patient. I had this method and I have just four very small as in 1/4 inch scars on abdomen..yes it is a serious surgery. However in many cases and it sounds like in your case once done and past the 6 week healing it is soooooo very nice to be pain free.
Avatar f tn I don't know the expected recovery time for this procedure but I would think a week or two. Have you gotten the results yet? Has the swelling improved at all?
Avatar f tn It should not be so bad. If you are in any pain they will give you pain medications. I had the full hysterectomy, tubes, ovaries, part of my rectum, and the lining of all my organs taken out and that was not so bad. Gas pain was the worst of my pain. They pumped me full of air. Walking helped. I was in the hospital six days with all that. Is it same day surgery or do you stay over night?
Avatar n tn My doctor suggested that I have the rectocele surgery repair. I'm hesitating because I've heard horror stories about the recovery and pain afterwards (from other posting sites and my Mom as well who had the surgery 15 years ago). I've been navigating this site and it seems like people here are not spreading fear. Just how bad was the surgery and post op? Thanks.
Avatar f tn I am having a partial hysterecomy, I have a 41/2 inch tumor, my gynecologist that was going to do the procedure said that it is now a little tricky having the turmor. So has anyone had this done with the bladder tac, how long in the hospital, recovery, I dont want to be out of work more than 3 weeks. How is the pain?
Avatar n tn I'm sorry you went through that. I too still have issues with my bladder, scar tissue, pelvic pain and I am pretty sure that the endo has returned/more cysts are developing 4 yrs post-op. I read your comment again (ihatemyscars) and saw that you explained why you felt so strongly against your procedure/hysterectomy. I hope that you won't take my previous comment too badly, I did not mean to come off as nasty.
Avatar f tn Hello, I am 47 yr/old, recently diagnosed with fibroid tumor, ovarian cyst, enlarged uterus with borderline endometrial stripe 12mm. My GYN recommended partial hysterectomy. I have Hypertension, Anemia. I am scheduled for a colonoscopy on 3/12. I will have my consultation 2/25 to decide on the next step. What about endo-biopsy?
746058 tn?1248344665 Well I had my hysterectomy July 13th. I fainted in the hospital 3 hrs after surgery and almost fainted again today, which is 8 days post op. I tried to go on a walk but it left me so weak and faint I could barely get to the house. I had to stop in my neighbors yard which I sat on a retaining wall in the lawn till my hubby brought the car over to drive me home. Luckily my 6 yr old son was there or i would have never gotten any help.
Avatar f tn Also, does adding a hysterectomy to all the other procedures being done in the repair increase the recovery time? And does it affect the length of time the repair might last?
Avatar f tn I can not stress to you enough how very important it is to follow post op guidelines to a T, Please go to my home page and read my journal on pre and post op hysterectomy hints, Its has all my best hints for a successful recovery and ideas of how to prepare yourself before the surgery. I have other more current journal entries so you need to click my icon to get to my page, then click see all on my journal list.
10123610 tn?1408029225 The ablatioan for me was an hour or les in the doctors office under local no big recovery. My hysterectomy was days in the hospital. I got home and was sicker than I have ever been in my life.
Avatar n tn I am a month out of surgery and my question is to anyone that had a vaginal hysterectomy and had their colon nicked during the procedure. I didn;t discover this until the day after when I began getting sick then got rushed back on to have surgery to fix it. I had to stay in the hospital for a week due to an infection setting in to be on IV antibiotics. Towards the end of the week we discovered I developed a fistula. Anyone had to deal with with a vaginal fistula?
Avatar n tn It takes several weeks for your body to heal after a hysterectomy so it's best to follow the Drs orders. Take things slow and get plenty of rest.
Avatar n tn When I had my hysterectomy, my gynecologist took the works out. I'm talking the ovaries (well one, I had the other one removed last Dec.), uterus, cervix, and fallopian tubes. The procedure he used was called lavh, laparoscopic assisted vaginal hysterectomy. I feel a lot better for it though. For me, I have a family history cervical and uterine cancer, which why the gynecologist took out everything. From what I understand though, there are other cancers us women can get.
