20795800 tn?1509581846 I had signs of HPV the kind that leads to cervical cancer- i HAD A dysplasia on my cervix and a burning procedure where it was sent out to see if it was malignant in stage 2 at one gyno- but the new gyno didnt know until just now- what should I do? he seemed concern but at the same time I already have stage 3 breast cancer- i'm thinking a whole hysterectomy.
Avatar f tn the gyn wants to discuss d and c next meeting which is a month away. should i be worried about cancer. will i need a hysterectomy. do they do a d and c with a hysterectomy or what. i am 58 and postmenopausal.
Avatar f tn Because of my age I was told I would need to have a hysterectomy with removal of both ovaries and be put on hrt. I could keep my cervix. I would then not need to worry about ovarian cancer. I got a second opinion by a gyn. I was told by him it can be removed by Diagnostic Laporoscopy. He never mentioned hysterectomy or ovary removal except that I may loose the right ovary because of the cyst. .I really want to go the more conservative route. Am I risking my health with my decision?
Avatar n tn When I had my hysterectomy, my gynecologist took the works out. I'm talking the ovaries (well one, I had the other one removed last Dec.), uterus, cervix, and fallopian tubes. The procedure he used was called lavh, laparoscopic assisted vaginal hysterectomy. I feel a lot better for it though. For me, I have a family history cervical and uterine cancer, which why the gynecologist took out everything. From what I understand though, there are other cancers us women can get.
543791 tn?1216381777 I would suggest you to go ahead and plan your family and you can have a hysterectomy after that so that the cancer does not recur. Take care!
Avatar n tn t want to go through a surgical procedure and then end up having to have a hysterectomy in the long run. Naturally, I also don't want to have a hysterectomy and end up with complications and am really afraid of menopause. Any advise you might have would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn ve gotten some REALLY good advice regarding the hysterectomy. To undergo a completely unnecessary surgical procedure simply for birth control is far too radical. Since you are in very good health, have had NO problems with the Mirena and it's obviously working, why fix what isn't broken? Why take ANY unnecessary risks with a surgical procedure? My advice is have a new device fitted and let nature takes it's course!
Avatar f tn After I went to see him he described the situation like this, the scale they use is numbered (1-5) and five being cancer. He said I had a number three and that was considered moderate. He also said that the sample that was sent out had abnormal cells that went to the edge of where he had cut tip of the cervix off. So he wasn’t sure if he got it all, he recommended a hysterectomy. I was also still having a lot of bleeding and discomfort at the time and the doctor said that was normal?
Avatar m tn Hi, I'm sorry, but you raised a few questions in my mind. You said that through an ultrasound your doctor found cysts on both ovaries, and you're bleeding post menopause. You also mentioned that you had a CT scan, what did that show? Is your doctor a general surgeon,or a GYN, and why wouldn't he refer you to a GYN/ONC Surgeon, rather than possibly consult with one?
Avatar f tn I am a stage 2 breast cancer survivor of 5 years. My age is 52. I had a lump removed from the right breast followed with 4 chemo treatments and 32 radiation treatments. Currently I am taking tamoxifin and fosamax for previa osteoporosis. Within the last few years my bladder has been slowly desending to the point now where the doctor describes it as stage 4 prolapsed bladder. He has suggested a partial hysterectomy to remove the uterus and then repair the bladder and rectal area.
Avatar f tn I can understand your concern. If there is a strong family history of breast cancer or ovarian cancer, you should possibly be tested for BRCA gene mutations. If positive, you would be eligible for an elective hysterectom/bilateral oophorectomy. c.
Avatar n tn Knowing what I have since learned and experienced, I would not allow a hysterectomy unless I had cancer that was confirmed by a biopsy. And I would be sure the consent form clearly stated what type of surgery could be done. I hope this info helps!
Avatar f tn My mother had a hysterectomy for uterine cancer five weeks ago. They also did the bladder sling procedure because of a prolapse. She developed a serious infection around the sling procedure and was treated with antibiotics. She also developed an over active bladder. The urogynecologist said there is no fistula, but rather her bladder has become over active because of the hysterectomy and the sling procedure. She also said that it is a temporary condition, but put her on Detrol.
Avatar f tn Your notes basically say they do not think it is cancer. You only have 1.4% chance of Ovarian Cancer in a life time. Most cysts are benign. As far as the pain. I assume you will have laproscopy. It should not be so bad. If you are in any pain they will give you pain medications. I had the full hysterectomy, tubes, ovaries, part of my rectum, and the lining of all my organs taken out and that was not so bad. Gas pain was the worst of my pain. They pumped me full of air. Walking helped.
10123610 tn?1408029225 I had Cancer so I had to have a hysterectomy later. I have the BRCA1 mutation. I would opt for ablation over hysterectomy personally.
Avatar n tn Ovarian cancer is the most deadly of all female cancers. If you're lucky enough to find out that you are in any way predisposed to this disease, I'd run, not walk, to get your ovaries removed. Just my opinion.
Avatar n tn After having a vaginal hysterectomy, my Mom (mid 60's) went back to her obgyn for her hysterectomy follow up and was told she had Stage 2 cancer. Here is exactly what the Dr. said: "invasive adenocarcinoma. Invasion into outer half of muscle of uterus. No extension to outside of uterus. Stage 2". He wrote this down for my mom. How does this all sound to you?
Avatar n tn Recently, my GYN found several large lumps in my uterus, they were fibroids. It ended in a hysterectomy, and me havig uterin cancer. I had been fighting for this hysterectomy for years, but I was always told I was too young and that I might want to have more children. 1 child, many burst cysts, and 3 miscarriages later, they still wouldn't do a hysterectomy. I sought out a lot of different opinions, and they all came to the conclusion that I was "too young".
686473 tn?1227017574 Also, because HPV can cause dysplasia/cancer of the vagina and vulva, you will need to continue with regular smears and tests for life regardless of having a hysterectomy because there is always the possiblity that HPV will become active and cause vulvar or vaginal cancer. If hysterectomy is a route you choose to consider please be sure you are well informed on the issue before making a decision.
Avatar f tn I had a 7 hour complicated procedure to remove cysts no cancer was found. The final diagnosis is Bilateral complex cystic adnexal masses secondary to bilateral ovarian remnant syndrome. Left ovarian cyst adenoma. Extensive pelvic adhesions. The procedure was Exploratory laparotomy with resection of bilateral adnexal masses, extensive lysis of adhesions, bilateral ureterolysis with retroperitoneal dissection. Cystoscopy and stent insurtion bilaterally. The pathology report reports A.
442027 tn?1209866342 My advice is to not have a hysterectomy unless your situation is life or death!!! In my case, I had cancer so I had no choice. The hysterectomy saved my life but also ruined the life I have. I will never be the same. I cannot enjoy sex without feeling pain so my sex life is destroyed and that was a very important part of who I was. I am not the same person and am very unhappy. However, if you have pain that you are hoping to resolve through hysterectomy, maybe it will be different for you.
541349 tn?1214174411 iam having a laparotomy on the 30th june they are removing a very large cyst from my right overy, the surgen said they will send a cut of the cyst to the lab 2 b freezed 2 check for cancer i will have the results the same day of op and testing, what do that mean freeze how do they do the testing?is it common on doing the test and having the results the same day,my surgen said he was worried about the blood count.i was 2 scared 2 ask him the questions,,ANY BODY HELP???????????
Avatar f tn Do you mean an 18mm thickening of your uterine lining? That would make more sense. When post-menopausal women have a thickened lining, doctors typically want to do an endometrial biopsy to check for "abnormal" cells - hyperplasia or cancer. This is an in office procedure that takes some tissue from the uterine lining and sends it to pathology for biopsy.
Avatar n tn I am about to have a full hysterectomy to remove cancer of the uterus. I have been told that the surgeon used to seal the top of the vagina with clamps, but now simply sews it up instead. Does anyone know anything about the pros and cons of each procedure?
Avatar f tn The CA 125 test is not accurate at diagnosing ovarian cancer. Even absent cancer, you can get a very high result. A friend and I had the same type of benign / non-cancerous ovarian cyst. My CA 125 was in the 30's (normal range) while hers was over 1000. Neither of us had cancer. Since your cyst is fluid-filled it's more than likely benign. I've never heard of an SIS procedure. From what you said it sounds like he did a biopsy... I assume from the fluid in the cyst?
Avatar m tn Hi. I'm 42 yrs old + have had cervical cancer. In 2010 I had a partial hysterectomy (uterus + fallopian tubes removed - ovaries intact). 2 months ago I experienced sharp abdominal pains (left side) - other symptoms included back pain and bladder pressure (feeling the need to urinate frequently). I have had an internal ultrasound (left side incredibly tender) - results were normal but left ovary not "optimally visible". I then had CA-125 blood test and CT scan.
1852163 tn?1321383972 I have recently been told by OBGYN, that they found a large mass on my right ovary and will need a Hysterectomy, with the removal of ovary and falipen tubes, they also ordered a CA-125 test to be done. about 7 mths ago, I had a papsmear done, and she found a lump the size of an orange in the same place, she didnt make a big deal out of it, so I thought it was fine, then about two months later, I had an ultrasound done, again they didnt make a big deal out the cyst or whatever they found.
