Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy procedure before after

hysterectomy

Avatar n tn I called a gastro doc and he set up a colonoscopy. I had to prep 2 days before the procedure. The morning of the procedure I still was NOT cleaned out!!!! YUCK.......still had to have the test. Now come to find out i have COLONIC INTERIA, but NEVER had problems before the hysterectomy. Is it possible that my gyne screwed something up?? I have also been having problems with my left leg (nerve) and 2 small toes going a little numb on me................
Avatar n tn please tell me why my periods are so painful and heavy now after my procedure? The literally make me sick and nauseous .
Avatar f tn I think I read that it is common....I would check into the side effects of detrol too...I can't remember what it was but I know I made them take my husband off that stuff....I think as she heels over time it would get better. I had cystocel rectocel and vaginal repair 4 weeks ago today....I am so much better than before I cannot tell you....I had prolapse.
Avatar m tn ve since had ops for ectopic pregnancies, womb ablation, subtotal hysterectomy (31 yrs old, 6 months after ablation). During my hysterectomy my surgeon had to separate my uterus from my bowel, bladder, cervix and ovary. Everything was stuck together due to scar tissue/pelvic adhesions. My surgeon believed that the pelvic adhesions were the cause of the horrific pain I was experiencing. I was fine for approx 3 years after my hysterectomy when the cramping and back pain returned with a vengeance.
Avatar n tn Insurance companies now require this procedure before a hysterectomy because it is less money. Most women will end up with a hysterectomy. There are contraindications why you should not have NovaSure done but gynecologist perform the procedure even though the woman is not a candidate. Doctors are not necessarily well informed and many women suffer. I had the procedure in 2005 and I would never recommend this procedure to any one I cared about. NovaSure is basically a form of torture for women.
Avatar f tn s have their own set of risks so be sure you understand those before going that route. Endometrial ablation is another procedure heavily marketed and done by radiologists but with serious long-term problems. How much are you bleeding? Have you tried various birth control pills to regulate the bleeding? What about the non-hormonal prescription medication Lysteda (tranexamic acid). It's often very effective at reducing bleeding so much so that paramedics keep it on hand.
Avatar n tn the ob/gyn has suggested me to undergo hysterectomy during the procedure if i have excess of bleeding during the procedure as i am anemic. i want to know the pros and cons regarding the hysterectomy ..how much risk will it involve on my life? please suggest???
Avatar m tn Hello, Such pain after endometriosis can be due to adhesion formation after endometriosis surgery or even recurrence of endometriosis. Symptoms of endometriosis include pelvic pain(usually before menstruation but sometimes during intercourse, urination or defecation), sometimes diarrhea or constipation, irregular or heavy menstrual bleeding, sometimes blood in the urine and inability to conceive. Get it evaluated from a gynecologist to confirm the diagnosis.
Avatar f tn t noticed any drastic menopause symptoms - no sweats, no mood swings etc. After researching a hysterectomy, it looks like that would be the last (and drastic thing) to do if I even had problems. I have had NO problems with my mirena and been free from periods for 10 years now - absolute bliss. I've been advised that it's better to leave things as they are (just have a new mirena fitted) and allow things to occur naturally with menopause and don't remove uterus as it is invasive.
746058 tn?1248344665 Well I had my hysterectomy July 13th. I fainted in the hospital 3 hrs after surgery and almost fainted again today, which is 8 days post op. I tried to go on a walk but it left me so weak and faint I could barely get to the house. I had to stop in my neighbors yard which I sat on a retaining wall in the lawn till my hubby brought the car over to drive me home. Luckily my 6 yr old son was there or i would have never gotten any help.
Avatar n tn I have a fibroid about the size of a grapefruit on my uterus and at least 2 smaller ones. My doctor was going to try the procedure wherein they go in and cut off the blood supply to the fibroid when she thought it was just one. Now that she has learned through an ultrasound that there are multiple fibroids, she said that procedure is not an option as it would basically cut off the blood supply to the uterus if they did that for each fibroid.
Avatar f tn Cherie gave you great advice about the DaVinci procedure. I've heard many good things about it and when I had my hysterectomy many years ago I wish it would have been available. You'll need 6 weeks recovery time. I'm sure you will feel much better weeks before that but you still have to take things easy for 6 weeks. Cherie is our wonderful CL here at the hysterectomy forum so if you have any questions she's the woman to ask.
Avatar f tn The 2nd is to perform a hysterectomy via an incision to my bikini line and leave my right ovary intact. The recovery time is exactly the same which made me feel a hysterectomy is my best option but now I'm having second thoughts. Can someone advise me?

553516 tn?1255867219 I am unaware of legal right outside of the USA, You should as the patient have the right to request a hysterectomy after you have had a long and informed conversation with your doctor. I understand what its like living with severe pain daily that was ultimatley my decision for a hysterectomy plus my uterus was very enlarged,You may have a ovarian cyst.
8012558 tn?1399308657 Doctor performed laparoscopy thinking it is endometriosis, but after the procedure I was told it was very mild and she was not sure if that was cause of my pain. After that, I saw urologist and did physical therapy on my pelvic, also my urologist did trigger point injections directly to my pelvic, but relief was only temporarily. I am tired of going to doctors and my insurance changed. I cannot afford medical bills trying to find out why I am in such a pain.
Avatar f tn I have had no other medical issues before this procedure. after my hysterectomy I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes which we figured out I am definately Type1. No family history of diabetes. I just gradually over the following year dropped 37 lbs, became so weak I couldn"t even climb stairs and my vision was worsening by the day. I have since heard that there is a piece of your pancreas, that if it is snipped the result is diabetes.
Avatar n tn t want to go through a surgical procedure and then end up having to have a hysterectomy in the long run. Naturally, I also don't want to have a hysterectomy and end up with complications and am really afraid of menopause. Any advise you might have would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar m tn I had a salpingo oopherectomy on both sides, a hysterectomy as well as a appendectomy on February 5th 2013. I am 27 years old. Since the procedure was done I have had severe lower abdominal pain while urinating. I have been very sick. Does anyone have an idea of what this pain is from?
Avatar f tn my name is mariela lately after 3 years of the hysterectomy i'am having in front where my right leg is on the left side i'am having pain like there's somebody would be stabing me with a knife, can you give any opinion. should i be wory about any thing i still have my ovaries. what could i have.
Avatar n tn And then you also have the risk of having an ovary or ovaries removed (regardless of what you and surgeon discussed) or a ~40% chance of the ovaries not working properly after hysterectomy.
Avatar f tn i had total hysterectomy done on Sept. 1, 2010. The procedure was a da Vinci laparoscopy or a robot assisted lap. and the uterus was removed thru the vagina. I had D& C thru the same procedure done on Feb. 22. 2010 and never had any problems after that but the second one, the hysterectomy, i'm experiencing severe spasms and pain on the left side of the stomach. The pain is described as squeezing, tightening feeling that never stops.
1931832 tn?1398880449 I had undergone Total Abdominal Hysterectomy last April 2012. And then after a month, I felt back pain. I thought it was the after effect of drugs during the procedure...as days went on, my knees had the same too..I went to see my OB and required blood tests for Potassium and Uric, it was found Negative, and immediately prescribed Difenax for pain, it helped though, but I had to see an Orthopedic Surgeon for proper evaluation. Undergo series of x-rays for my knees.
