Been in chronic pain for 5 years now, after a hysterectomy. What is the best treatment. Am on 2400mg Gabapentin and 60mg of Cymbalta, but don't really want to have to take this for life.

Avatar f tn I had 2 surgeries 2 years ago, and the last was a horizontal cut hysterectomy. My muscles in my stomach are still not mended, and my colon was scarred during one surgery. So, I cannot enjoy my usual presurgery workouts. I was in the military for 11 years, so having this new pouch in my stomach is new for me. I'm already a vegetarian, don't eat sugar often, but I cannot get the weight off. As a matter of fact, it goes up and down all of the time. Has anyone else been in this situation?
Avatar n tn After recommended to a Gyn specialist, after the appointment, I was suddenly scheduled for a complete hysterectomy a couple weeks ago. No biopsy was performed on my ovaries. Biospy of the uterus proved benign. I'm 48 and though I know menopause draws near, I'm not sure if this is the right decision as heart disease and bone demineralization (osteoporosis) runs in my family. Keeping the ovaries is risky, but having another 4 or 5 years of natural hormone production could be a plus.
Avatar n tn your doctor is wrong many women have a hysterectomy with adhesions my doctor had to peeel my bladder off of scar tissue and the peel my ovary off my bowle he sound slike he dont want to do te=he surgerie ...is he a very old doctor....perhaps not up on laproscopic hysterectomies?// thats the route you want to go faster recovery less invasinve...as for scaring you by saying he may ruptre bladder thats rotten and a ruptured bladder can be repaIRED.
Avatar f tn A pelvic ultrasound recommended gynecologic assessment as the endometrium was abnormally thickened. I saw a gynecologist who did random biopsies in the uterus and this came back negative. This was back in May last year. I am still having the same problems but sometimes have pain/cramping almost like menstruation cramping down in the lower pelvic area. I had a transvaginal ultrasound this time and the endometrium is now abnormally thickened at 1.6 cm.
Avatar n tn Hi i am a 24 year old nursing student. i wanted to ask for some advice. i am being seen by a cardiologist due to reacurrent faints. i have had an echocardiogram ecg which came back fine i am now to have a 24 hour holter and tilt table test. the cardologist believes fainting is just due to low blood pressue.. i have been refused my nursing placement due to these faints even though i was cleared by occupational health.
Avatar f tn What week did your work carry out risk assessments?I work in a nursing home and I'm 25 weeks and as of yet in have not seen a risk assessment so I'm still moving and handling. Pushing hoists and stand aids around. I have over the last few weeks started expierencing pains and aches in my groin.
Avatar f tn Since you work in a "healthcare setting," there should be a Risk Assessment Team for situations like this and they should have been notified immediately. If such a team is not available, your immediate supervisor should have been notified of your possible risk and assessment for PEP treatment done at that time, IF it has been less than 72 hours since this incident, you are still in the window period for PEP.
Avatar f tn Text book symptoms for ovarian cyst, ovarian cancer, and endometriosis. I did an ultrasound and my GYN suggested a hysterectomy beings my tubes were tied and my cycle was so debilitating. She also suggested a CA-125 which was 495 and cancelled my surgery and referred me to a GYN-ONC. Now I am waiting.... She suggests that it is an ovarian hemorrhagic cyst, endometrioma, or endometriosis that is causing this issue.
Avatar m tn If you and your gf are having problems with lube because of her hysterectomy (I had a hysterectomy too, and have that problem), just get some lube. It will help it feel better for you both. And it can be fun to play with. ;) But wait until your symptoms are gone before you have sex.
Avatar f tn Not sure what to do, I am fifty, perimenopausal, Dr says I have complex ovarian cysts and endometriosis, (also two types of bladder problems going on) Dr says that I also tested positive for the MTHFR gene which makes me high risk for not surviving a hysterectomy, says if I do survive, I would have to go to a nursing care facility, also told me that she cannot say that I do not have ovarian cancer, ca-125 was normal, she says I have alot going on, put me on pill for bladder, wants me to start in
Avatar n tn I am 38, had a hysterectomy(bi-lateral oopherectomy) 4 years ago , my grandmother and her sister had breast cancer. I found 2 lumps about a month ago. I had a screening mammo, a diagnostic mammo and an ultrasound. I got my ultrasound report today and this is what it says: Findings: The lesion seen on a mammogram is not identified. No solid or cystic lesions are seen. Impression: 1. The ultrasound examination does not demonstrate any solid or cystic lesions.
Avatar f tn I do have a ton of support from the nursing program, and they have given me no choice which is what I needed. Life will be beautiful. Thanks everyone...I hope I haven't lost any friends here. Things are getting busy and expensive. I have to leave town 3 times this week for this, and still maintain meetings everyday and potential urine drug screens on those days as well. Please know that you have helped......
Avatar f tn My initial appt went really good. It took about 1 1/2 hrs for him to examine me and demonstrate some things. He said I have hypertonia & weakness in both legs and weakness in my right arm. Some of my leg strengths was only 2.5 on the strength scale. He asked if I used any walking aids, and I told him - not yet (thank goodness). I never noticed this, but he said whenever I stand, I lock my knees into place.
Avatar m tn I had a pap done a cpl months ago and got the call that my pap was abnormal with ASCUS high grade with NEGATIVE HPV. Avatar f tn I had a hysterectomy and an oophorectomy 10 years ago and continued to still have a sex drive and enjoyment. Then I was diagnosed with Her2 breast cancer in December 2009. I had a bilateral mastectomy with lymph node involvement. I have gone through chemotherapy and radiation and reconstruction. I feel very good about my body and looks. The problem is I have no hormones left in my body. I still have an active sex life with my husband; however I get very little satisfaction from it now.
Avatar f tn I have had my risk assessment done I am 6weeks+5 I was just wondering when others went onto maternity leave or what they may feel is no longer safe to work within this setting and at how many weeks? Or if others have worked in a care setting?
Avatar f tn re paying quite a bit to attend nursing school and you should ask your nursing instructor for the answer.
Avatar n tn Is it possible for a 17 year old to get a hysterectomy or something equivalent? Our mom is worried that once she turns 18 and/or moves out she will become sexually active and being a 'slow' person not realize the consequences of her actions. We both (mom & I) know a a mother she will be neglectful and abusive and don't want to do that to a child. Any suggestions as to what to do???
