Hysterectomy natural hormone replacement

Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy natural hormone replacement

hysterectomy

Avatar f tn Because you had a hysterectomy, the usual natural approach is more complex. I'd advise seeing a naturopath. The usual approach would be to use a trial and error approach with the great many herbs and "natural" hormones that are derived from the Mexican Wild Yam that help to balance hormones, but again, since you've had a hysterectomy, you might want to see a naturopath who knows more about what influence that has on the matter.
1073454 tn?1317494199 It is almost two years since you posted your question. By now, you probably are doing very well. One thing that too many women have found out after a hysterectomy is the need for a bladder suspension a few years later. That is what happened to me, and others I know. I believe the surgeon should tell his patient about that possibility prior to doing a hysterectomy.
Avatar m tn After watching this episode, I promptly made an appointment with my family doctor to discuss other HRT options. I stopped taking my Premarin, and upon my request for a safer or natural hormone, she prescribed estradiol .05 once a week patch, just recently (last week) added Prometrium, 200 mg. daily. My health/sanity issues have not changed.
Avatar f tn m looking information regarding natural hormones. Also have a cyst 4.2 (forms before hysterectomy) now, if this cyst grow what are the chances of having surgery again? Hopping everybody is OK. Thanks for everything.
Avatar f tn If you are concerned, you should see your doctor for evaluation and he/she can order an ultrasound, if appropriate. Also, just so you are aware, “naturalhormone replacement has the same risks of estrogen exposure as “clinical” HRT. Estrogen is estrogen, whether it is from soy or the lab. This is why we recommend that women with estrogen receptor positive breast cancer avoid HRT as well as soy and other “natural” estrogen products.
Avatar f tn The thing is, these studies are on post menopausal women. I can see where taking a replacement hormone when your body should naturally not be making this hormone anymore could be bad and I wouldn't do it. But what about the people who were thrown into surgical menopause at a time their body would still be producing it?
718868 tn?1230730029 I too am on the vivelle dot patch, I change mine every 2 days and also take estradiol one tab at bedtime. I am like a new person. I think they have finally gotten my hormone replacement right. I must say that premarin is one of the older, not so good hormone replacement products available. There are so many new and safer bioidentical hormones on the market like the vivelle. I would go back to my doc, get your hormone levels checked and demand to be put on one of the safer replacements.
Avatar f tn Hello, After hysterectomy, hormone replacement therapy would consist of estrogen alone usually given daily by pill or sometimes weekly or biweekly skin patch. However hormonal replacement therapy should be given for a short time only as long term use may be associated with a small increase in breast cancer. In my opinion you should consult a gynecologist and start with hormone replacemenr therapy.
Avatar f tn just had a total hysterectomy and not takin my horome pills.. what will happen to me.
Avatar n tn s, who have had ER/PR HER2 negative breast cancer, stage I, no spread to lymph nodes (surgery, followed by radiation and chemotherapy) in regards to hormone replacement therapy due to complete hysterectomy resulting in severe menopause reactions?
621426 tn?1221537052 I had a complete hysterectomy back in December, no meds have been given to me since then. I had already menapaused at 36 an 9 yrs later I had the hysterectomy. I have become agitated very easily, anxious, and depressed. I believe it has something to do with my hormones or lack of them. I went to a Dr.
1267412 tn?1270253586 I am 40 and had a total abdominal hysterectomy 8 months ago due to an ectopic pregnancy, endometriosis and a benign tumor. I have been taking hormone replacement since then and would like to know if its REALLY something that I HAVE to do for the next 20 as the doctor said... Ive heard alot about side effects and dont want to put anything into my body that isnt truly necessary. Any advice is greatly appreciated!!
Avatar f tn On September 29, 2009 I had a complete hystorectomy with a 10lb adnexal mass removed at MD Anderson. An intestinal type cancer of low malignant potential was found. I am waiting to be sceduled for an MRI & Colonoscopy. After my surgery I was prescribed Effexor for my mood swings and hot flashes. The doctor has continued to increase the dosage up to the highest = 150 mg per day. All it has done for me is turn me into a zombie.
Avatar n tn HI, For distressing menopausal symptoms, you will need HRT (hormone replacement therapy) and over the counter medicines will not help. You need a systematic evaluation for hormone levels and a thorough examination to find out whether HRT will be suitable for you. Consult your Doctor. Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn I would ask the Onc if he would do the surgery or at least be there..since there is no guarantee that it isn't cancer. I wouldn't worry about the hormone replacement. Many of us are not able to take hormone replacement as it feeds the cancer in some cases. I have been on Elavil which is a anti-depressant that helps with hot flashes..and after 2 years I will say I still have them, but not nearly as much as when I first had my surgery.
Avatar f tn A couple of members here, including myself, watched Robin McGraw yesterday speak about bio-identical hormone replacement therapy. Did you know that women as young as their teens can have hormonal imbalances ? And that you can show signs of perimenopause in your 20s... feel horrible and be misdiagnosed with chronic fatigue or fibromyalgia ? And yet the medical field has failed us again on this other issue.
Avatar f tn Hysterectomy causes long-term damage to internal anatomy (bladder, bowel, vagina) and skeletal structure (spine, hip, rib cage alignment) and disrupts natural hormone production and is associated with loss of sexual function. The ovaries of an INTACT woman produce hormones into her 80's for good health and well-being. Hormone replacement is a misnomer as nothing can properly replace our bodies' own hormones. Hoping you get proper workup and treatment!
Avatar n tn I had a hysterectomy including ovaries, my doctor says all women need for hormone replacement is estrogen, it keeps our bones strong and helps with hot flashes, I have never said this in any off the 700 posts Ive answered but I think you are in the wrong place, your doctor treated you very unproffesionally and no one here is going to tell a breast cancer survivor what to do with hrt, Id suggest writting down all your questions so you dont feeel nervous or forget anything and reschedule an ap
