hysterectomy

1478258 tn?1287390186 Laparoscopic surgery, or minimally invasive surgery (MIS), keyhole surgery, is a modern surgical technique in which operations in the abdomen are performed through small incisions as compared to larger incisions needed in traditional surgical procedures. Keyhole surgery uses images displayed on TV monitors for magnification of the surgical elements. Laparoscopic surgery includes operations within the abdominal or pelvic cavities.
Avatar f tn As far as healing goes, it depends on the nature of your surgery and your overall health. Minimally invasive surgery may have a recovery time of 2 weeks, well as a non-minimally invasive approach may take as long as 6 weeks. Regards, Erich T.
Avatar f tn Also how long would I stay in the hospital--I was given a pamphlet about these urogynecologists in Denver, and in the pamphlet they do talk about minimally invasive surgery for the cystocele with prolapse repair (without hysterectomy-already had the hysterectomy) or graft ad mesh repair for cystocele. Saw somewhere in your questions and answer section, someone was having problems with the mesh repair--is that common and how good is it--how long will the repair last. I am 77 years old.
Avatar f tn A new minimally invasive treatments for Uterine Fibroids is in Phase 3 clinical trial across 6 cities. The treatment is a potential option for women who have fibroids, have completed child-bearing and want to avoid a hysterectomy. http://trialx.com/clinicaltrial/85936/fibroids-laparoscopic-radiofrequency-ablation-symptomatic/?
Avatar m tn The only thing that worked was having a laparoscopic surgery and having my uterus scraped. It was minimally invasive and I healed within the week. Hope this was helpful and good luck feeling better soon!
922475 tn?1243962297 Newly diagnosed with uterine cancer... can a laparoscopic hysterectomy be done with this problem? Does it require being cut from side to side? Just wondering... would like to not have a huge wound site.
Avatar m tn That was my mistake, I went ahead and agree to a possible laparotomy if the minimally invasive was not successful. What I could've done differently was asked my gynecologist for a referral ( or search it yourself) to a gynecologist who especializes in minimally invasive procedures. They're out there, trust me...
Avatar f tn Sometime, I do that at the time of surgery if the ovarian tumor is benign if the CA 125 ad CT scan show no other findings, surgery could start with a laparoscopic evaluation to see if it is a benign tumor that can be removed with a minimally invasive approach At 7 cm, some surgeons would go straight to a bigger incision called a laparotomy to remove the tumor.
Avatar f tn By the way, if the cyst is benign, you could be a candidate for a supracervical laparoscopic hysterectomy, or a laparoscopic assisted vaginal hysterectomy with removal of ovary(s). I'm sure that you don't want more surgery, but you even more don't want more cancer! Good luck!
Avatar f tn I was in your same exact situation two years ago.. I didnt receive my last Lupron injection and ended up bleeding a few days prior and up to the day of my surgery..My Dr/Surgeon didnt seem too worried. I would let them know ahead of time, though..Since your cycle never stopped, your Hemo probably needs to be checked to be sure you can still have the surgery. If it's too low, they may postpone the procedure. What type of procedure? Hysteroscopy? Laparoscopy?
Avatar f tn Minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery is the Gold standard to diagnose and remove endo through excision (cut out) If you are treated by an Endo specialist you will have up to 80% chance of being pain free although in reality it sometimes takes more than one surgery but that is usually years down the road or you could possibly not need another.
Avatar n tn The NovaSure procedure is a quick, safe, simple, one-time endometrial ablation treatment. This minimally invasive procedure controls heavy bleeding by using energy to remove the lining of the uterus. The average treatment time is about 90 seconds 1, and only needs to be performed once to lighten or stop your periods. No pretreatment drugs are required and NovaSure can be performed in the hospital or in your doctor's office.
953787 tn?1246371213 In addition to hysterectomy and abdominal myomectomy, various minimally invasive procedures have been developed to remove fibroids. HOpe this helpes a little at least!
Avatar n tn I am scheduled for a laparoscopic supracervical hysterectomy in 4 days. I started my period and will be on the light days at the end by the time i have surgery. Is this a contraindication for proceeding with the surgery or can this procedure occur at any time during the menstrual cycle?
Avatar n tn I am interested in the minimally invasive option since I have no other health issues. Is there any reason I should consider the open chest surgery? Seems like the obvious best choice is minimally invasive. Thanks.
Avatar n tn They noted improvement in the lower urinary tract symptoms and increase in mean urinary flow rate after the procedure. Seo et al. performed laparoscopic surgery with transperitoneal approaches as a minimally invasive modality in the management of 4 patients with congenital seminal vesicle cyst associated with ipsilateral renal agenesis. They noted mean hospital stay of 6.8 days and no operative complications or transfusions.
Avatar n tn I am an 81 year old woman who has been blessed with excellent health all of my life. Many years ago I was diagnosed with Mitral Valve Prolapse with little or no noticeable problems. Recently, however, an Echocardiogram revealed an increase in the valve leakage and the doctor has recommended a Transesophageal Echocardiogram. My question to you is: What is the percentage used to denote normal heart function? I believe the Dr.
Avatar n tn I will be going in for testing next month to see if i am a candidate for what my cardio explained is a "minimally-invasive ablation" procedure. I'm doing this because I have extra heartbeats associated with atrial fibrillation. He told me that it would involve using a wire to go through a major artery in my thigh and essentially "burning" off pathways from my atria to ventricles ( if I'm recalling correctly).
550432 tn?1215133317 Has anyone experienced this problem and what can be done about it? I am considering minimally invasive surgery, has anyone had that and was it successful? I am open to any and all suggestions.
Avatar n tn Have any of you had any experience with minimally invasive decompression surgery? I am not sure if it is as successful in relieving symptoms or if there is a higher need for other procedures in the future. I am not clear on the average recovery time from the regular procedure vs a less invasive procedure. I am looking for options as my daughter was just diagnosed with Chiari Malformaiton I and she is supposed to start graduate school in three months. Any advice is appreciated.
Avatar f tn The cyst is very large and it would be best to get it removed. Laparoscopic surgery is a minimally invasive surgery and post operative recovery is usually fast. Hence you should be up and about within a week if all goes well. Hope this helps. Take care and good luck.
Avatar n tn Many women are never presented with other 0ptions for treating fibroids that preserve the uterus, such as uterine artery embolization. Uterine artery embolization is a minimally invasive treatment where an interventional radiologist uses a catheter to inject small particles (embolic agents) into the uterine arteries. The goal is to block the blood vessels supplying the fibroids, causing them to shrink and die.
Avatar f tn I know it is hard to find a doctor that does enough of the minimally invasive surgery for hyper parathyroidism to be an "expert". I just got back from NYC where Dr. William Inabnet did my surgery and he was fabulous. Good bedside manner, good staff, I went out to lunch the day of the surgery after I left the hospital.
Avatar n tn yes i would BUT i was told by my doc once u have had cyst's u may get them again so having both removed may not be a good idea, sorry my answer is last i do hope u have had help with this xx jen
