Avatar n tn If you click on my name (or picture) it will take you to my profile. Find my journal articles (there are only three as of now) and find my information on Surgical adhesions and how I got relief. I mention in the journal entry that you should ask your doctor before attempting this type of serious, deep massage that you do on your own....

1050179 tn?1253899186 Does anyone know where I can find articles that are concrete in using methadone for chronic pain? I'm on 110mg's of liquid methadone and have to go to the clinic twice a week because I have 5 take home days. But I don't want to have to go there anymore to get the medicine. - At first,I went there because I was taking percocet for my FM pain and kept having to take more and more to get the relief I needed.

Avatar f tn My surgeon is Elizabeth Geller of UNC teaching hospitals who has done extensive studies on this procedure and submitted several journal articles. I am just concerned about the repair of the tear in the wall of the rectum which will be part of the surgery. I haven't seen this procedure mentioned. Is it a common part of the repair surgery? Does this complicate the surgery if not? Thank you.
612876 tn?1355514495 Alright, it's been a long time coming, but I've finally at least *started* it. I'm indexing my collection of journal articles where it's accessible to you all. Here in OUR health pages. This is going to be a labor of misery ....er, I mean LOVE. Ha! This is going to take a long time to complete, and of course as there are new journal articles coming out monthly ... NO, I don't even want to *think* about that. Let's just be happy that I embarked!!
Avatar f tn Hello Ladies, I am considered very high risk for Ovarian Cancer (family history), so my doctors have recommended a hysterectomy. They actually didn't have to recommend it, I was going to ask for it, if I had to! I am 42 years old with no real signs of menopause. My oncologist said I could wait a bit for the surgery if I wanted to get a bit closer to menopause to try to shorten the possible time on hormone supplements (if needed). That discussion was about 8 months ago.
1053613 tn?1255987994 Has anyone had their hysterectomy by robotics? Im having the robotics hysterectomy on Dec. 30 and was wondering how the recovery has been for someone who has that type of surgery.
Avatar f tn gov/pmc/articles/PMC3223258/ addresses the risk of ovarian failure after hysterectomy. It is 2x that of an intact woman when both ovaries are left in place. That risk is greater when one ovary is removed.
Avatar n tn My onc/gyn at a major cancer center has told me that she will not order any more CT scans unless there is a reason. My CA-125 is low. She has read journal articles which indicates that the radiation from the scans may be more dangerous than not having the scans. I had one after I finished chemo and no more.
Avatar f tn Ran into an article in the Journal for the American Academy of Family Practitioners published this month, telling doctors that Levothyroxine is the ONLY valid treatment for hypo and to trust the TSH. I called the Academy and was transferred to the editor of the Journal and advised him of the more current articles (that I published here) conducted and published in Europe and now published by the NIH.

1503643 tn?1311518238 This finally ended with the diagnosis of endometriosis and and emergency hysterectomy in 1994.I had 12 cysts on my left ovary and 9 on the right. Here's what happened. I was under a great deal of stress. I had to move back to Vancouver,Wa. and leave Palm, Springs because I was being sued for custody of my oldest son. I had a great life. I worked as a controller of a chain of mexican restaurants. I also sang at the local clubs with a back-up band.
Avatar n tn by definition a hysterectomy is the surgical removal of the uterus with or without the cervix, a seperate operation is called a bilater salphigo Ooperectomy which is the removal of the fallopian tubes and ovaries, they are sometimes removed during a hysterectomy but not technically a part of a hysterectomy. Hyster means uterus in medicial terms.

955060 tn?1251260239 Hi. I'm 26, have three kids and on August 6th. I'll be having a total hysterectomy. I've been dealing with severe endometriosis since I was 16 (shortly after the birth of our first daughter). it has spread and gotten so bad that I have to take prescription pain pills for the pain. I sometimes have to skip doing things with my kids (ages 10 years, 2 years and 2 months) because it hurts so bad.
Avatar m tn I had an unnecessary hysterectomy with ovary removal and wish I had done things differently. My gynecologist lied about my condition and was deceptive about his treatment plan.

I have had a complete hysterectomy 18 years ago and have never taken HRT. At this point the hair on the crown of my head is thinning and I have an extra 20 pounds that will no go away. I eat a very excellent diet with minimal carbs and good carbs if I choose to eat them. I exercise 3 days per week at a local gym for one hour each day. HELP!!!! What can I do?
Avatar f tn Please research robotic hysterectomy. There have been a number of news articles in major media about the over-marketing of this medical device (hospitals have to recoup the exhorbitant costs of those machines) and the lack of adequate training in its use. I personally know some women who have suffered injuries from robotic hysterectomy (burns, nerve damage, and torn vaginal cuff). Of course, these injuries can also occur with traditional methods.
