hysterectomy

Avatar m tn I am a female age 44yrs. and I had a hysterectomy in Nov 2010. An associate said that due to the lack of certain hormones present after a hysterectomy it may hinder or slow the process of healing of broken/fractured bones. Is this true?
Avatar m tn Hello, You should take the prescribed antibiotics as if the bump is getting smaller, then probably it is healing. If the symptoms persist or worsen then you may need incision and drainage for which you should consult a dermatologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar f tn He feels that I am going through one thing right after another and feels that he could take out the cysts because at this point it is very painful but he feels another could come. So he is recomending a hysterectomy. He says I have many fibroids and now a large cysts. I have had two C-sections in the early 80s so I also had scar tissue. He doesn't want to me to have to keep going through these procedures and feels this is the best thing to do. A complete hysterectomy.
Avatar f tn Competition between several healing areas for the substrates required for wound healing impairs wound healing at all sites. L = Low temperature: The relatively low tissue temperature in the distal aspects of the upper and lower extremities (a reduction of 1-1.5°C [2-3°F] from normal core body temperature) is responsible for slower healing of wounds at these sites.
Avatar n tn Hysterectomy wounds can sometimes separate superficially, like yours did. If this happens in my patients, I generally go to once daily wet to dry dressing changes, but some surgeons prefer twice daily changes. The wound slowly heals from the bottom up. Depending on your skin type, the healed scar may be slightly larger (wider) than if your incision healed without the dressing changes. Dr.

Avatar n tn Mom goes in for post hysterectomy appointment and obgyn says she is healing nicely; but she has stage 2 adenocarcinoma. He says "invasive adenocarcinoma. Invasion into outer half of muscle of uterus. No extension to outside of uterus. Stage 2." He says he has been consulting with obgyn oncologist and makes an appointment for mom with that gyn oncologist for mid July, the gyn oncologist is at the biggest university hospital in our state. We are waiting on that appointment.

Avatar n tn I had a partial hysterectomy about 5 weeks ago (cancer was found, a small amount, they took the uterus and cervix). I have two questions: 1. Recently I have noticed I can "feel" my vagina, meaning, I notice the inside of my vagina, as though it's dry or slightly swollen. It's not really painful, just noticable in a way I've never experienced before. Is this normal? 2. My partner and I have not had sex since before the surgery.
Avatar n tn I had a vaginal hysterectomy 12th Nov. Before my op i used walk at least 10kms a day and do exercises and work full time. I would like to know a timeline when i can start doing exercise etc. I have been i advised that I can return to work within 3 - 4 weeks,, though can't drive till 3 weeks post op.
Avatar f tn Hi... I"m sorry I missed your question. Personally, I had my hysterectomy years before having been diagnosed with IC, so obviously having a hysterectomy didn't help me any. Know of some others that have had hysterectomy in an effort to help alleviate pain, but it hasn't done anything. I'm not questioning whether or not you have IC, but I wonder if you've been checked for other things that cause similar symptoms, such as pelvic floor dysfunction, endometriosis, etc.
Avatar f tn Since I last wrote the pains in my abdomen have gone away. I do still have lower back pain from time to time and it sure isn't from over exerting myself. : ) March 1st is a healing period of 6 weeks. You asked how my appetite was and bloating. I feel my appetite has increased (God Forbid) and I do feel bloated all the time! Does anyone else have increased appetite & bloating? Is this normal? Is anyone doing any type of light exercise while healing?
Avatar f tn HI, The granulation tissue responds well to cauterization and the irregular bleeding should stop soon. Also the oestrogen cream will help with the healing process. Hence you should be all right soon. There should not be any major side effects. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn Hi your pain is normal, it is a 6 weeks healing time for a hysterectomy,,,it will get better each and every day .It is very very important to do nOTHING no lifting, not to many stairs, no vaccuming, no bending, twisting, or carrying anything heavier than 3-5 lbs.
Avatar f tn I am sorry for what you have gone through. I had a hysterectomy at a much older age (49) and I would highly discourage it. It has caused a whole list of problems. The uterus has life long, non-reproductive functions - anatomical, skeletal, hormonal, and sexual. The ovaries are also important our whole lives and if you have your uterus removed, there is a good chance that your one remaining ovary will fail due to loss of blood flow.
Avatar f tn Had a mishap during hysterectomy and had stents put into bladder. Now on a catheter for 2 weeks while healing.

Avatar f tn I have read where this does not always work and a hysterectomy may have to be done. Does anyone know what percent of women with this condition end up having to have a hysterectomy?
222282 tn?1210164939 The purpose of the stent, which typically is placed cystoscopically, is to act as a structural backbone onto which the healing ureter may mold. It also guarantees drainage of urine from the renal pelvis directly to the urinary bladder. It also can work as a gentle dilator since it moves slightly in an up-and-down motion, associated with breathing, as the kidney unit moves. The use of the stent is thought to minimize the rate of obstruction of a ureteral stricture in the injured area.
Avatar f tn I had a partial hysterectomy abt 3wks ago an my husband an i was wondern cld he perform oral sex on me WITOUT inserting his finger or penis?
Avatar f tn i’m 25 and just had a full hysterectomy and oophorectomy three days ago (with the da vinci robot). i understand that you’re supposed to wait several weeks before inserting anything inside the vagina, so sexual penetration is a no-go. what i want to know is how long i should wait until i masturbate using only external stimulation? i’m worried that the orgasm itself may be bad for healing or hurt because of the way the muscles contract. does anyone have any advice or experience with this?
Avatar n tn I had a vag hysterectomy with A&P repair 3 weeks ago and still have a watery, fishy discharge. They told me it is gardnerella and want me to take clindamycin. I am opposed to antibiotics and have used alternative & homeopathy for the past 15 yrs. I do not have any other symptoms other than the discharge. I am taking probiotics and echinacea with golden seal. Is there anything else I can do to prevent having to take the antibiotic? Thank you.
