hysterectomy

314833 tn?1263259499 NO not at all. I had a hysterectomy for the same reason. endometriosis amoung severe scar tissue. I am so much happier now that I have had my hysterectomy and don't have to be in pain anymore!! Please also post this on the hysterectomy forum so you can get other's opinions there as well.
Avatar f tn I had a hysterectomy 2 months ago due to a severe case of endometriosis. I had a lot of back pain & I thought after I had a hysterectomy that pain would go away.....it hasn't yet. I was wondering if cymbalta would be good for my back pain? My lower back hurts a lot & I didn't know if they would complicate things. I just want some answers...maybe you can help.
Avatar f tn t do a hysterectomy for endo now, but regardless of what you decide, the thing that worked best for me was that my doctor had a long history of me complaining about my pain. Don't hesitate to let your doctor know how much it hurts, if sex/orgasms hurts, how bad your periods are, if your daily activities are affected, how your family is affected, etc. Get all of that on record. Again, I'm sorry. I know it sucks.
2042830 tn?1333865567 I have been in a lot of pain and having pain in my chest and still have nerve pain going down my left side finger tips to my feet...still having a low temperature of 98.9 to 99.9....if the biopsy comes back good then she wants to do ablation in my endometrium area. I have heard horrible story's about getting ablation of my uterus, because they ended up having more pain and bleed outside of the uterus..They end up getting a full hysterectomy...
Avatar f tn It is possible that this cyst is an endometrioma which is associated with endometriosis. Also, endometriosis tends to run in families. Some women undergo hysterectomy and ovary removal as a "treatment" but, unfortunately, that is not a cure so may not relieve the pain especially in the long-term. And then they are left with the medically documented negative health and quality of life consequences of losing the lifelong functions of these vital organs.
Avatar m tn That makes sense since I might need a hyst later on. I do have a lot of pain every month but I've lived with it most of my life. I don't see the need to hasten me to menopause. I know what it's like to be on hormone replacement and there is no substitute for that which your body produces naturally. I wish I had had an option with my thyroid problem. Thank you so much for your kind support.
Avatar f tn I too am 11 years out from complete hysterectomy for endometriosis and have had lots to deal with through those years...I am on bio-identical hormone replacement therapy...you might consider switching? I would start with a blood panel of my hormones including the estrogen, testosterone, progesterone, but I would also have a check of my thyroid because this could also be a problem at this point...
Avatar f tn No problem :) I have been where you are :) The only way to confirm Endo by ultrasound would be if there was an endometrioma. If there isn't Endo will not show up otherwise. So do you know if that cyst was an Endometrioma? For 100% diagnoses of Endo it needs to be done my lap surgery. When I was on the pill before my surgery it did nothing for the Endo but it helped my hormones regulate which was just as important.
Avatar n tn When you had your surgery what was the method of Endometriosis removal? Excision or laser? Also once you had your surgery were you put on meds right away? Was the surgeon a gyno or an Endometriosis specialist? I want to make sure you understand that a hysterectomy will not stop the Endometriosis from growing. I can't emphasis that enough. I totally understand your frustrations I really do.
Avatar f tn I'm in need of help and guidance. Ever since 2012 when I was 16, the symptoms started. I would like to say when I started my period at 12 it was fairly normal, not too bad of cramps. But when I was 16 my ongoing nightmare began. I got my period and about an hour after the bleeding started, I was seeing dots, couldn't walk, had extreme hot flashes & and shortly after that, began throwing up non stop until I passed out.
Avatar f tn I am 44 years old. I had a hysterectomy 4 years ago for fibroids. I have a history of ruptured cysts. Since the surgery I've had issues with painful sex, bladder urgency, trouble emptying bladder and bowel issues. Over the last year I started having severe bloating, nausea, and lower back pain. I started to wonder if I was having trouble with cysts again. I got an ultrasound last week and learned I have a cyst on both ovaries. One is hemorrhagic.
Avatar f tn Seems to get worse only with laying/sleeping. Pain gets so bad that I cannot get out of bed by myself sometimes. Gets lessened in the AM with bowel movement only but never completely goes away. Doesn't seem to matter what I eat, drink... can't find anything that "sets it off". Had severe endometriosis at 15. Hysterectomy at 34. I have my right ovary but the pain is a lot higher and to the right than the normal ovarian pain I have experienced. I've ALWAYS had weak kidneys.
Avatar f tn Does any one know of a natural treatment of endometriois? I have had a hysterectomy but have one ovary left. It's been 2 mths since my surgery and the endo is back. My doc wants me to take the Lupron shot. But I can only have one more. Any help will be appreciated.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with endometriosis and it is in the walls of my uterus. We are out of options for treatment and the pain still persists. I'm perfectly fine with this option and my doctor knows that. I just want to know what to expect. It is scary being so young going through this but at the same time, I have shed too many tears over this situation. I am going to discuss with my doctor about leaving an ovary, not only to prevent menopause but I would like children.
Avatar m tn Yes it can. There is currently no cure for Endometriosis. The only way to "cure " it is if they did a full hysterectomy and removed every single endometrial implant/endometrial stroma gland in your body.
Avatar n tn That is why hormones are given to suppress the estrogen or removal of ovaries is suggested. A complete hysterectomy is often suggested as best remedy for severe endo. Endo is difficult to image by any means (US, CT, x-ray). Only an endometrioma or "chocolate" cyst that results from endo entering the ovary, can be imaged, but it is not 100% accurate in determining the type of cyst (typically no imaging is).
Avatar f tn it took me 8 months to get pregnant cuz i couldnt after i had my dnc told my doctor symptoms and how bad my period used to be alot of pain amd heavy bleeding etc.. it was horrible Doctor diagnost me with Endomdtriosis so my queston is did anyone that have it or knows about it how are my chances to get pregnant again is it gonna take long again..i heard some girls are infertily they are not able to have kids and some are i dont know much about it pls any advice? thanks.
Avatar m tn My doc gave me progesterone only for 4 months to kill off any residual traces of endometriosis before switching me to estrogen. From what he told me, progesterone kills it off while estrogen fertilizes it. I never knew that. I asked about stopping the estrogen because I'm not liking it at all. Loved the progesterone. He said it would be ok unless my menopause symptoms became too bad and I could go back on it. He said no estrogen is better than estrogen for endometriosis.
Avatar f tn In January I had a full hysterectomy and will be receiving my first round of chemo on the 8th of Feb. I am 28 years old and was diagnosed with endometriosis in 2004, I have had multiple surgeries, ultrasounds, labtests, etc and no one has found this until now. And I am now stage 3c. THe only symptoms I have had is severe abdomnial pain for years that was shown to be my endo. I have no family history and have had no other signs, even my CA125 has always been normal and is still normal.
Avatar f tn I am to the point where admittedly I did want more children but realistically with the amount of pain and how bad my endometriosis comes back worse each time I would rather end this instead of a surgery a year. Basically cutting open the same scars for laparoscopy.
Avatar f tn Prior to that, I was diagnosed with endometriosis and I have history of blood clots. I have just started the menopause but because of my history, I cannot take HRT or anything with oestrogen in it. Can anyone suggest anything I can take?
