Hysterectomy for ovarian mass

Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy for ovarian mass

hysterectomy

Avatar f tn Would high alkaline phosphatates and a high ESR be related to my ovarian mass? If so does this mean the chances of the mass being cancerous are greater? I appreciate your comments, Thank you!
Avatar f tn No prior abdominal surgerys so I should not have had adhesions or scar tissue at time of hysterectomy.. My gyn said the mass was probably an ovary fragment and all was normal. I am worried that the mass may be adhearing to my intestine causing the pain I have been experiencing each day (in rectum/vigina area) about half hour befor bowel movement. Also how does Gyn know whether or not this mass is cancer.
Avatar f tn Thanks to this website I read that a peritoneal mass can be a type of ovarian cancer when the ovaries are gone. Has anyone had this? The OB is not doing anymore tests before tomorrow as she says she doesnt want me stressed to the limit before surgery and she will make a full evaluation when she goes in there tomorrow.
Avatar m tn Yes, mine was in the normal range. Some tumor types don't give a high number. Now that we know what my normal is I know that if mine goes above 12 it could be a recurrence. Normal for me is 0 - 5. Because the CA125 is not a good indicator for me I have scans every 3 months.
Avatar f tn Medical studies clearly show the harm of ovary removal or post-hysterectomy ovarian failure. Hysterectomy changes the figure too as well as other things (such as bladder, bowel, and sexual function). Hysterectomy and ovary removal (along with c-section) are the most overused surgeries. Only 2% are done for a cancer diagnosis. Even ACOG says that most hysterectomies are unwarranted with 76% not meeting their criteria.
Avatar f tn Before I even left the hospital parking lot, I was called back for a CT with contrast because of a suspected mass. After that 2-hour long test, they then wanted an ultrasound, and then a transvaginal ultrasound. The results are confusing to me, no one has explained anything to me, and they just say they are referring me to a gyn to figure out what needs to be done. Results are as follows. CT w/o contrast: Patient has an abnormal mass in the left pelvic sidewall measuring 5.1 cm in size.
725998 tn?1258048708 She then sent me for an MRI and it was found that it is a 10cm mass on my ovary (I was so shaken up I forgot to ask which one!). Because of my age and other symptoms, she has referred me to a gynecologic oncologist. She said I will definitely need a hysterectomy no matter what. Obviously, if it will help I don't care about the hysterectomy, but am scared of the diagnosis of ovarian cancer. Now I think I have all the symptoms (some lower back pain, bloating, etc.
Avatar f tn And has anyone ever heard of this type of mass (so close to the ovary) affecting moods - for example having mood swings like I used to when I was still menstruating? I also have breast/nipple tenderness. I am just curious if these random symptoms which have been bugging me can be tied in together. Thanks so much for reading this!
Avatar n tn A CA125 is not a definitive test for Ovarian Cancer.....there is no definitive test for Ovarian Cancer other than a biopsy of the mass. CA125 is best used as a tool when someone recurs. There are numerous reasons that a CA125 would be high, something as simple as a toothache can effect the numbers. The OB/GYN wants to do a hysterectomy based on a CA125? Have they done a transvaginal sonogram? CT Scan? MRI? What is the reason for doing the hysterectomy....
Avatar n tn My employer (Internal Med) sent me for a sono. The results are as follows - Interval 1.9 cm complex cystic left ovarian mass. THIS DOES NOT REPRESENT A SIMPLE CYST AS IT HAS INTERNAL ECHOES/DEBRIS. Interval 3.7 cm SOLID LEFT ADNEXAL MASS, ADJACENT TO THE LEFT OVARY. IN VIEW OF PRIOR PELVIC MRI, COMPARATIVE INTERVAL FOLLOWUP CAN BE CONSIDERED FOR FURTHER EVALUATION, AS WELL AS COMPARATIVE SONO F/U IN TWO MONTHS TO CLARIFY LEFT ADNEXAL MASS AND THE INTERVAL COMPLEX CYSITC LEFT OVARIAN MASS.
Avatar f tn No I do not. I had a VU today and she said I had a Ovarian Mass. Thats all. So I am waiting for my doctor to call me. But yes I was worry. But I know God is my healer.....Thanks I will keep yall posted.
Avatar n tn 4 cm and concerning for a small ovarian Neoplasm GYM recommends a total hysterectomy. What will confirm cancer...biopsy after surgi???
Avatar f tn 4 cm left ovarian solid mass suspicious for left ovarian neoplasm/carcinoma. Less likely to represent exophytic fibroid or other process. Suggest tissue diagnosis. Uterus measures 8.5 without focal fibriods seen. My primary said she does not want a biopsy done first. She wants my ovaries removed then test the mass. I see the GYN on monday so I hope surgery will be scheduled. I guess I should be glad that the mass is not big at all and my cea came back negative for the second time.
Avatar f tn gov/pmc/articles/PMC3223258/ addresses the risk of ovarian failure after hysterectomy. It is 2x that of an intact woman when both ovaries are left in place. That risk is greater when one ovary is removed.
Avatar n tn s gyn removed all her parts. Mine were also removed (needlessly since all that needed to be removed was an ovarian cyst). For me, the effects were severe in every way. I became suicidal and aged dramatically overnight (hair, skin, vision, muscle mass) and couldn't function... couldn't concentrate, think logically, remember anything, couldn't sleep, etc. Estrogen was a huge help for me. Was she possibly on too little or too much estrogen or a delivery route that didn't suit her?
1483640 tn?1383389371 Found several fibroids and the mass on my ovary. now getting ready for complete hysterectomy. I am worried aabout ovarian cancer. I have looked up the symtoms of ovarian cancer and it is scary. I have them all.
Avatar f tn 36 year old female who has had a full hysterectomy in 2015 and a subsequent procedure to remove scar tissue and adhesions that was causing pain in 2016. I started having abdominal pain again several months back. Primary care physician referred me to a GI specialist. GI performed an endoscopy to rule at a GI issue. Endo was negative. Visited OB/GYN for normal checkup. OB performed transvasional ultrasound which showed a 2 x 5 x 2 CM mass in my pelvis.
Avatar f tn I had a ovarian cystectomy in 1986, total abdominal hysterectomy in 1994, bilateral salipingoophrectomy and ovarian cysts removed in 2005. This year I had a CAT scan for another medical issue and it was discovered that I had masses both right and left adenxal area. I went to the Cancer Institute of NJ for a consultation with a GYN/Oncologist. After numerous tests including MRI, Ultrasounds, CA-125 (negative) and I had lab work done which indicated I was premenopausal.
Avatar f tn I am scheduled for a complete hysterectomy in July. My Gyn told me I have a mass/cyst on my right ovary. He stated it has an inner cell wall and blood supply. He did not say it was cancer but that I need to have the surgery within the next few months. What does he mean with and inner cell wall formation and blood supply?
Avatar f tn the radiologist said these findings are concering for right ovarian neoplasm can some one please tell me if its cancer?? my gynocologist wants to do surgery and remove my ovary asap.. ty all and god bless ...
Avatar f tn Lo and behold she told me it could be caused from ovarian cysts and she agreed to do a total hysterectomy. She wanted to do a total hysterectomy. Any advice or similar stories and outcomes would be greatly appreciated.
