Hysterectomy for ovarian mass

Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy for ovarian mass

Avatar n tn Had surgery last Friday Apil 11- hysterectomy for benign ovarian tumor and came home Sunday from hosp.. Saw my Gyno Oncologist Wednesday April 16 because I was dehydrated. A pathology report was in my file. Apparently, something on left fallopian tube - carcinoma in situ (maybe) showed. Gyno Onc called pathologist while I was waiting in office and my oncologist and pathologist are going to review biopsy report together.
Avatar f tn And then on top of the endo symptoms, they are left with the damaging effects of hysterectomy and/or ovary removal. I had a hysterectomy 10 years ago and am still aghast at how much my body has been damaged. I'm talking about the normal effects not surgical injuries or complications. My bladder and bowel do not work normally since they have been displaced now that my uterus is not there to hold them up. The pelvic musculoskeletal effects have been devastating.
Avatar n tn I think the hard part is the waiting, get a test, then wait for the results, then wait for the doctors appointment, in my case the mass has grwon in 30 days to double the size and now 2 masses, both non-fluid like in nature. This has me very worried.
Avatar m tn Yes, mine was in the normal range. Some tumor types don't give a high number. Now that we know what my normal is I know that if mine goes above 12 it could be a recurrence. Normal for me is 0 - 5. Because the CA125 is not a good indicator for me I have scans every 3 months.
Avatar n tn My Dr. found an ovarian mass (solid) during an ultrasound and later confirmed it was there after an MRI. The ovarian mass is approximately 5cm. They also found large fibroids on my uterus. Fibroids run in my family, my mother had a hysterectomy in her late 20's because of them. I had the CA125 test done earlier in the week but haven't gotten the results back yet. I have an appointment with a gyn-oncologist in a few days.
Avatar f tn Would high alkaline phosphatates and a high ESR be related to my ovarian mass? If so does this mean the chances of the mass being cancerous are greater? I appreciate your comments, Thank you!
Avatar f tn No I do not. I had a VU today and she said I had a Ovarian Mass. Thats all. So I am waiting for my doctor to call me. But yes I was worry. But I know God is my healer.....Thanks I will keep yall posted.
Avatar n tn When I was diagnosed with a large scary complex mass in 2004, I looked all over for information, and it appeared that "everything is just cancer" --- but for the fact that I found this website. Here, women who'd already experienced the journey that I was just beginning could share their stories, and statistics.
Avatar n tn This could represent an ovarian torison or other hypovascular left adnexal mass. I have no idea what this means, if any of you can get so kind of idea what this means can you please help me. I am in pain on my left and side and I am not sure what to do.
Avatar f tn On weddnesday last week i had a pelvic scan that detected an ovarian mass of mixed origin, well defined 4 x 4 x 2 and was refered for urent gyni appointment .... what does all this mean?? I have belly and back ache, tender breasts and an awkwarrd feeling beneath my ribs on the side of the mass!!! Ive been bleeding for 9 days now but only when i go to the toilet .... i was bledding for 10 days from the 6th of this month so have only had a matter of days without bleeding.
1852163 tn?1321387572 My Dr. told me today that I would have to have a hystorectomy, because they found a 10cm mass on right ovary. The left ovary looked fine, but was in my side. They are checking for tumor markers, (ovarian cancer). CA-125 test will be done, soon and the sergury will be on Dec. 13th.
Avatar n tn I suggest that you have a vaginal ultrasound to check for any enlarged ovarian mass, then the diet is very important when dealing with endometriosis. Bran cereals, fresh green salads, and fruits, white fish for 3 weeks. Also WATER---Lots of it. I promise you that you will feel like a NEW person. :-) Scar tissue has 2 best friends----(animal fat, and sugar.) These foods CREATE scar tissue.
Avatar m tn I do my breast screening. Ultrasound and CA 125 blood tests are all you can do for Ovarian. PAPS do no good for detecting Ovarian. They found mine 2 years after I started throwing up all the time. I was lucky I even had symptoms most women do not. Worst comes to worst cuddling is not so bad. My sweats were really bad at first but they are better. You just have to make an informed decision and do what is best for you.
Avatar n tn I would be grateful if there is anyone who can tell me how it has been if they have had a hysterectomy following cyst investigation. I have two children, and am preparing myself for the possibilities of what may happen during the op. I am going to go for the laprascopic investigation and give consent for the consultant to operate on me if he thinks it is necessary. But I will only do this if I feel that the information on life after a hysterectomy appears to be bearable.
Avatar n tn Hi- I'm new to forum-after several sonograms and biopsy, dr today advised I should have full hysterectomy-scheduled for Monday. Findings on sonogram-complex cystic mass 3.8x2..2cms, several thick septations. Individual ovarian cysts w thick walls between them or even possibly a folded tubular structure such as hydrosalpinx. There is no free fliud in the cul-de-sac. Results of CA 125 were 6.5 but Dr still feels due to my age(59)and size of cysts there is a possiblity of cancer.
Avatar f tn I am sorry you are suffering from both PCOS and endo that is leading you to hysterectomy. I assume you already know that hysterectomy is not a cure for the insulin resistance of PCOS or for endo. Some women do get relief, either temporary or permanent, but some don't (I don't know the percentages). I had a hysterectomy 9 years ago at age 49 - absolutely the WORST thing that has ever happened to me but I did not have a chronic pain condition. The hormone HELL alone has been life-shattering.
Avatar f tn I am sorry to hear your mother died from ovarian cancer. Do you know if you have the BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene that causes most cases of ovarian cancer? Do you plan to take hormone replacement to mitigate some of the health risks associated with ovary removal? I did not have cancer nor do I have a family history but I did have a hysterectomy with ovary removal.
Avatar f tn I would like to know exactly what they are saying. I'm 34 have three kids my tubes are tied I'm scheduled for a hysterectomy on sep 6th for severe cervical dysplasia and also very heavy cycles. Im scared of cancer since it says pelvis mass. My mother died of stomach cancer at the age of 40. Any info would be helpful. Here are the results from the ultrasound........ Impression Unchanged 1.7 cm left ovarian lesion which may represent a complex hemorrhagic cyst. Solid mass not excluded.
Avatar n tn Hi, I am 51, I have a 5cm (or there abouts) mass, taking HRT for menopause. Dr wants to do a total hysterectomy, taking out appendix as well. This seems a bit radical to me. I have no pain, the cyst has been monitored for the last several years. The last sonogram showed slight increase, however dr said it could have been the angle of the sono, or the operator of the sono. No ovarian cancer is in family. Will be getting a second opinion. Any info is appreciated.
Avatar n tn Also, my sister, who is 44, has just been told that she has a large mass on one of her ovaries, and is going for further testing today. Please help me to find the right answer in what I should do...thank you, Kelly.
Avatar n tn I have an ovarian mass, measuring 46X56X82mm, volume 109 cc on left ovary. I have a large meningioma, brain tumour which was partially resected 2 years ago. I was hospitalized for 2 days last week for severe abdominal pain, vomitting etc in local hospital with no OB/GYN. I had previous ovarian mass 1 year ago. It reabsorbed.I had a hysterectomy with right ovary removed due to endo 6 years ago. I am in pain, I have seen Gyn. in past who is not anxious to operate due to my medical conditions.
Avatar f tn My doctor found a 10.7cm x 9.8cm mass and a walnut size mass in my pelvic region that he feels is cystic. The blood work he did for tumor markers was 7.8 and 0-3 is normal. He feels they are most likely fluid filled. I am scheduled for surgery in 2 days and am wondering if I should be as terrified as I am. I had a hysterectomy due to a "bad" pap smear about 19 years ago. They left my ovaries at that time.
1483640 tn?1383392971 Found several fibroids and the mass on my ovary. now getting ready for complete hysterectomy. I am worried aabout ovarian cancer. I have looked up the symtoms of ovarian cancer and it is scary. I have them all.
Avatar f tn What did your gyn say? Likely you should still see a gyn-onc as they can't rule out cancer until the complex mass has gone through pathology. It's actually on the smaller side - I wouldn't be surprised if your gyn recommends a watch and see approach. But if you're concerned a second opinion from a gyn-onc might be beneficial. Let us know how you make out.
