Hysterectomy for hyperplasia

Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy for hyperplasia

hysterectomy

Avatar f tn I'm sorry for your troubles. How thick is your lining? Was a biopsy done at the time of the D&C and again recently to see if you have hyperplasia? And if so, is it with or without atypia? I know tamoxifen increases risk of endometrial hyperplasia and cancer but aromisin does not, correct? Is it possible your ovaries were only temporarily affected by the chemo and radiation and have since "recovered" somewhat explaining the spotting?
Avatar m tn Yes I have seen mine. Simple hyperplasia. And a focal complex atypia hyperplasia. Very little. What did they told you, and what is the true ?
Avatar n tn I have Endometrial Hyperplasia with Atypia, and wanted to ask if anyone was diagnosed on ultrasound with thick endometrial lining. Mine is 21mm. Also, has anyone over 50 been able to reverse the atypia with natural hormones?
Avatar m tn s been hyperplasia or one is high risk for hyperplasia because an ablated lining (endometrium) can mask hyperplasia and cancer. Please do your research and advocate for yourself before deciding how to proceed. Hysterectomy is a major life (and anatomy) altering surgery. I wish you the best in getting proper treatment!
Avatar f tn I have since learned more than I ever cared to know about how vital the uterus and ovaries are to every aspect of health and well-being. I also learned that most women are misled about their need for hysterectomy as well as the many short and long-term after effects. I will be happy to share more if you'd like. I hope this helps and please keep us posted on what more you find out.
Avatar f tn Do you mean an 18mm thickening of your uterine lining? That would make more sense. When post-menopausal women have a thickened lining, doctors typically want to do an endometrial biopsy to check for "abnormal" cells - hyperplasia or cancer. This is an in office procedure that takes some tissue from the uterine lining and sends it to pathology for biopsy.
Avatar n tn I am 54 years old and had breast cancer 3 years ago. After cut off the lump in the breast and some lymph, I didn't do the chemotherapy, and only take the radiotherapy of both breasts. Since then I didn't take any medicine due to my doctor. Howerer, I do have uterine bleeding about twice or three times a month and anemia, I took it as menopausal symptoms carelessly.
Avatar f tn I have had the oophorectomy and now the pathology from DC came back as complex hyperplasia with no atypia, but concerning enough that my surgeon wants me on a 3-6 month course of Megace (progesterone) and then most likely do a hysteroscopy to see if the Megace wiped out the hyperplasia. I was soooo hoping to be over this ****, but now this. I am extremely thankful the pathology came back negative on the ovaries...
Avatar f tn i am being monitored with thickened endometrium which is endometrial hyperplasia and left ovarian cyst with transvaginal ultrasounds every few months. two endometrial biopsies normal. the lastest ultrasound shows a possible density or polyp in my uterus. the gyn wants to discuss d and c next meeting which is a month away. should i be worried about cancer. will i need a hysterectomy. do they do a d and c with a hysterectomy or what. i am 58 and postmenopausal.
Avatar n tn History, going in for menopausal symptoms, and to consult about have surgery for a hysterectomy options and we discussed that I am not ready at that time, just seeing what they feel is best for my situation... I have Complete uterovaginal prolapse for years, I have had 5 kids, and am 54 years old. I have been menopausal for the last three years, no period for 19 months. Went to a new GYN and told her what I was going through, no sleep, moody, hot flashes, like crazy....ect....
Avatar f tn I HAVE COMPLEX HYPERPLASIA WITH ATYPIA. I AM 50 YEARS OLD. I'M SUPPOSE TO HAVE A HYSTERECTOMY. BUT FOUND OUT I MIGHT BE PREGNANT. WHAT ARE MY RISK HAVING THE CHILD.
Avatar m tn the OB gyne MD gave me 2 options, either a polypectomy or hysterectomy. as much as possible i would like to avoid a hysterectomy because of the post effects. I am also concerned with the polyps coming back as I age. Still not decided whether to have I would appreciate any feedbacks regarding this matter. thanks!
7895403 tn?1395152718 BLEEDING EVERY DAY HAD NO HYSTERECTOMY. HAD WOMB SCRAPING CLEANING ON 7-02-2014 STILL BLEEDING LIGHTLY EVERY DAY AND NIGHT...
Avatar m tn Thickening of the uterine lining can mean several things and most of them are not serious. I have a thickened uterine lining as well. What it will mean is that they will likely do an endometrial biopsy (office procedure) or, a D&C (hospital procedure, day surgery..about a 15 minute procedure under general anesthetic) to check the cells to see a number of things: They can determine if the build-up of the endometrium is due to proliferative changes (ie: hormonal imbalances...
482924 tn?1333203671 Please, please, please do not just rush into a hysterectomy! I was forced into one at the age of 27 and my life has never been the same since. For one I almost died from the sugery and for two, there is a very long list of major complications/illness' that come with a hysterectomy. Some doctor's push for a hysterectomy because they make good money from them and will continue making more money off of you, because of the side affects and complications.
Avatar f tn thank you. the gyn is watching my ovarian cyst which got slightly smaller, and the thickened endometrium. how long will they have to watch it. i am tired of biopsies and transvaginal ultrasounds. will the stenosis of cervix be there always. what can they do for it. i haven't asked my dr yet these questions....
Avatar f tn About 8 years ago I had a vaginal hysterectomy due to hyperplasia (due to - too much estrogen). I am 64 and fairly healthy until this past year. I have extreme back pain, had an MRI in Sept. and they discovered a cyst on my spine. The location results in nerve pain, sciatic, both legs and difficult to stand for lengths of time. Recently I went to back specialist and he recommended an anti-inflammatory to reduce cyst (to avoid back surgery).
Avatar f tn However, if you are right next door to menopause, were it me with your history, I would go for the hysterectomy to protect myself from cancer there/ovaries too. This is a difficult question for you to answer......I hope this helps you. Good Luck!
667078 tn?1316000935 And, unfortunately, it sounds like your doctor(s) did not take your symptoms seriously or did not do proper testing. Of course, an endometrial biopsy checks for endometrial hyperplasia or cancer, not ovarian cancer. And unfortunately, an ablation can mask endometrial hyperplasia or cancer. But back to the subject of OC. Did you have ultrasounds and/or CT scans and they did not see any abnormalities of your tubes or ovaries? Some ovarian cancers are thought to start in the Fallopian tubes.
