Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy for dysfunctional bleeding

hysterectomy

Avatar f tn A common reason for light and continuous bleeding is a fibroid. Have you had either a uterine MRI or any ultrasounds, to check for that?
1323173 tn?1277137703 Whether this is dysfunctional uterine bleeding or fibroids, needs to be ascertained and corrected. to correct the iron deficiency anemia, increase the intake of iron like meat, poultry and fish, fruits nuts, legumes, enriched cereals and grains, spinach and egg yolks. Iron supplements as advised by the doctor, on an empty stomach. If unable to absorb iron due to celiac sprue, intravenous iron infusions may be advocated.
Avatar f tn i am confused since i will be turning 34 soon, and have been bleeding for almost a month straight, many have told me this could be pre-menopause. i am so confused, and tired of this. please let me know your opinion.
Avatar n tn I had a hysterectomy in 1999 when I was 42 (for dysfunctional bleeding) I had both my ovaries & fallopian tubes removed at the same time I have been on oral HRT ever since. My GP has just stopped it saying that "I am post-menopausal as my ovaries were removed at hysterectomy" I do not really understand this. If I have been post-menopausal since day 1 then why did I need HRT in the fisrt place? Can you explain please?
Avatar n tn m not having any more children and I have tried everything to stop the pain and bleeding I was told depo provera is only a quick fix for dysfunctional uterine bleeding. I have heavy cycles as well and I pass a lot of large clots. I go through a lot of pads the first 2-3 days. I went through all the tests as well and they came back fine. My gyn found out through my laparoscopy. Let me know how things are going for you. I know going through too many cycles can lead to more serious situations.
Avatar f tn com/endometrial-ablation-16200 Endometrial ablation is a procedure that destroys (ablates) the uterine lining, or endometrium. This procedure is used to treat dysfunctional or abnormal uterine bleeding. Sometimes a lighted viewing instrument (hysteroscope) is used to see inside the uterus. Endometrial ablation can be done by: Laser beam (laser thermal ablation). Heat (thermal ablation), using: Radiofrequency.
Avatar f tn Of course there number one solution is to try birth control. The gyno told me depo should help my dysfunctional uterine bleeding... however it made matters worst and I bled for two months with abdominal pain and clots the size of golf balls, terrible mood swings and the like. The shot ended in May and I didn't go back for the second. Since then, I am still not ovulating..wasn't before the shot and certainly not after. I had two periods in May. I skipped the month of June.
Avatar f tn I know many people that have gone this route that have had success. A hysterectomy is not a cure for Endo so please don't let anyone tell you that as it can still grow back. Most doctors who say what yours did about how bad it was means its possible he is not educated or skilled in Endo surgery. If you let me know where abouts you live I could help you find a good Endo surgeon so if there is a time you would see one you will have the name on hand.
Avatar f tn The bleeding is'nt normal so yes, you should get into see your Dr as soon as possible.
Avatar f tn I had a total hysterectomy 12 days ago and am still "dripping" vaginally. How long will this go on??
Avatar n tn I have had a hysterectomy. And during oral sex I have has some bleeding ? Is this normal ?
Avatar f tn It could be spotting, dysfunctional uterine bleeding, chemical pregnancy, miscarriage..I would get checked out ASAP if you can. When I was about 5 weeks, I had spotting and it started getting heavier so I got worried but now Im 7 weeks and everything is fine and have no worries but got diagnosed with dysfunctional uterine bleeding.
Avatar n tn I am 2 years postmenopause. FSH=142. Never had any gyno problems/issues for 23 years. No problems with menopause. No hormones ever taken. In great physical shape, health, etc. Recently started spotting with cramps and breast tenderness. Had biopsy. Diagnosis: Disordered proliferative endometrium with no evidence of malignancy identified. Pelvic ultrasound showed an endometrial stripe of 6.3mm with fluid in cavity and tiny subendometrial cysts suggesting possible adenomyosis.
Avatar f tn You are unlikely to need a hysterectomy. Only 2% of hysterectomies are done for confirmed cancer. Hysterectomy is the most overused surgery. 76% do not even meet ACOG criteria for the surgery. The study that showed this said that many gynecologists do not do the proper workups to get a diagnosis and/or offer hysterectomy over conservative (organ-sparing) treatments. The cause of the sharp pain needs to be determined in order to decide on appropriate treatment.
Avatar f tn then he mut me on birth control and hormone tablets and still im bleeding. he now wants me to have a hysterectomy done ...please help...
Avatar n tn What would make me bleed after hysterectomy 9 years later I have my left ovarie only its only when having sex?
Avatar n tn I have had irregular bleeding, cramping and periods for the last several months. It started out as occasional spotting between periods and has progressed to feeling bloated, more frequent bleeding between periods, bleeding after intercourse every time, and cramping after intercourse. My periods are heavy and irregular - one month it will be 12 days in length, the next 2 days in length. I've had 3 OB/GYN's who have suggested a partial hysterectomy (leaving the ovaries).
Avatar f tn i had a total hysterectomy 16yrs ago where also they took both my ovaries. after just visiting the loo i found that i had quite a bit of brown on my underwear along with some bright red spots of blood and this was also on the bathroom tissue. as i am writing this i am starting to get some pain in my lower abdomen. i am getting a little worried.
Avatar n tn Then one period my life changed. For the next 20 years I had life-altering cramps and hemorrage type bleeding. Anaprox alleviated the cramps and I lived on it. I had many D&C and was told I had fibroids and I should have an hysterectomy. I refused. I have only been pregnant once and that end with an abortion in 1973 when I was 23.
Avatar f tn May 2016 is where it all started. I was hemorrhaging with large clots. I just turned 40. The 1st hospital gave me a depo shot. I've since had a DNC,been to a hematologist with no answers and still bleeding heavy with clots. There have been times in the last 9 months that I only saw blood when I wiped. The majority of the last 9 months has been non stop bleeding with small and large clots.
Avatar n tn I had vaginal bleeding and odor after my hysterectomy. I mentioned it to my doctor who said that the vaginal bleeding would be normal for possibly up to about 6 weeks - - it is due to internal stitches. The odor could be a sign of infection. I was given an antibiotic which seemed to clear up the odor just fine. It has been 3 weeks since my hysterectomy and the vaginal bleeding has cleared up as well.
Avatar m tn I reread my posts,, and I should clarify that my April 12th appointment is for the "consultation" for a hysterectomy. So sorry,,, when I reread my post,,, it did sound as if the 12th was the day of the hysterectomy.
