Hysterectomy for cystocele

Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy for cystocele

hysterectomy

Avatar f tn Thanks so much for your information. My doctor graded the cystocele as a 4/5. Except for the bulge I don't seem to have other symptoms - well a heaviness with the bulge I guess. On different websites they grade things differently - sometimes 1-3, 1-4. I just ordered your book. Will it talk about the 5 types of POP?
Avatar f tn Also how long would I stay in the hospital--I was given a pamphlet about these urogynecologists in Denver, and in the pamphlet they do talk about minimally invasive surgery for the cystocele with prolapse repair (without hysterectomy-already had the hysterectomy) or graft ad mesh repair for cystocele. Saw somewhere in your questions and answer section, someone was having problems with the mesh repair--is that common and how good is it--how long will the repair last. I am 77 years old.
Avatar f tn I am 2 weeks into recovery from a recrocele cystocele and Davinci hysterectomy and sacrocolpoplexy. Wondering if and when it is safe to start kegels or will it pull out the mesh?
Avatar f tn Estrogen is used to help the viginal skin, mucosa, become more healthy so it will heal better after surgery. Estrogen does help some symptoms of prolapse such as urgency, vaginal dryness, frequent urinary infections.
Avatar f tn m 10 years post-hysterectomy and my vagina has been like a crumpled up shirt sleeve for some time now...very disgusting. The uterus and its ligaments are also essential to the pelvis' skeletal integrity. Your spine, hips, and rib cage will gradually shift after hysterectomy which is why the figure changes afterwards. The uterus is key to a satisfying sex life for many women and don't realize it until it's gone. Something else to consider....
Avatar n tn I am scheduled to have a vaginal hysterectomy for cystocele and rectocele. However, everything I've read says they've gained 20/30 pounds as a result do the surgery. Did you?
Avatar n tn , but now I have a larger cystocele. I believe the dr. would to the davinci method and give me a complete hysterectomy and use mesh to attach it to the pelvic bone. Is it better to wait or better to do it sooner than later.
Avatar n tn I'm a woman in my mid 60's - 3 children - complete hysterectomy in my 40's (don't ask - a mis-diagnosis) who first noticed a cystocele about 7-8 years ago. I first saw a specialist some 5-6 years ago who diagnosed it a grade 3 and indicated a smaller rectocele (not noticed by me). Of course, regardless of exercises, etc., the cystocele has slowly become larger. NOW, the important thing to note here is that I have NO pain, no incontinence and continue to have great sex.
Avatar f tn I have uterine prolapse as well as a cystocele and rectocele. When I asked about the reasons for recommending the hysterectomy, she said that it would make the repairs easier. I did ask\ about the ovaries and they would remain intact, which I do wish to keep. I know there is a lot of controversy (and unknowns) about whether or not the uterus is involved in sexual functioning (physically, not psychologically), so that is why I was questioning it.
Avatar f tn My current Gynecologist also says I have a rectocele and a cystocele. I have seen a couple other gynecologists one for therapy and the other wants to do a hysterectomy. This doctor says my caffeine intake is my problem, LOL. So I'm seeing a third doctor to get an opinion on the hysterectomy part. I really just want the Bladder Support redone! Why is that so difficult!?
Avatar n tn I am scheduled for vaginal hysterectomy for cystocele and rectocele. Everything I have read said they have gained 20/30 pounds as a result of the hysterectomy including the ones whose ovaries were not removed. Have you had any weight gain?
Avatar m tn I had my hysterectomy with ovaries removed 11 years ago for endometriosis..the endo was not excised as it was not a specialist so my endo continued and it then took me 7 yrs to find a true specialist who believed it could be endo after having all my female parts removed...he went in and sure enough frozen pelvis again...I also thanks to having my organs removed deal with pelvic organ prolapse...sex is very different...
Avatar f tn Hi Suecat I am posting to you due to having a cystocele and suspected enterocele and wonder how you are and if you have had surgery for you reported problems in the above posting. I realise your posted a long time ago but not many people seem to report about enteroceles and I did feel you sounded as though you had one from your post. I hope you are well and have remedied your situation.
Avatar m tn Hi, I had a vaginal hysterectomy removing my uterus, cervix and one ovary.. still have one left. one year ago. I ended up hemorrhaging a week after the hysterectomy.. I actually have stage 2 Cystocele & Rectocele. But we are going to hold off with doing any sort of surgery for right now, going to try some physical therapy. I also have a 1 cm area of Granulation on the vaginal cuff that is going to have to have surgery at some point to repair as its very sensitive and I have had bleeding.
Avatar f tn Hi - I will have a total hysterectomy anterior/posterior; rectocele and cystocele in less than ten days. What does all this mean, how long will I be in the hospital, and how long will recovery take, approximately? I know we're all different and circumstances will dictate the exact amounts, but if you have had these three procedures will you please share your story? What was it like before, and after? Tips and suggestions will be greatly appreciated! Thanks for sharing!
Avatar f tn I am 42, I had grade 3 rectocele, and grade 2 cystocele repair 4 months ago. I have had sex probably 10 to 15 times since surgery, everytime it is incredibly painful. Also, can not stop taking MIRALAX. Will I ever get back to normal, or will sex always be this way and will i ever get off MIRALAX??
Avatar n tn I am 67 yrs. old. My ob/gyn has told me I have cystocele and uterine prolapse, and that I need a vaginal hysterectomy and TVT. I have not had bad or noticeable problems, maybe leakage with a bad cough. I have not noticed anything with my uterus, but the dr says while they do the TVT I should have the hysterectomy. My question: Should the ovaries be removed or left in tact? I think perhaps I am still producing some hormones because I haven't had problems that might suggest otherwise.
Avatar f tn My gynecologist recommends a partial hysterectomy along with the bladder repair as she feels the uterus will drop down after surgery failing the bladder repair. Uterus is dropped some however not diseased to my knowledge. The urologist recommends no hysterectomy as after bladder is repaired the uterus will place correctly. I have researched and am aware that many women are having complications arising from mesh repair and am very apprehensive about the mesh repair.
Avatar n tn I am gonna be honest, a hysterectomy is very painful (for most ) for fisr 1-3 weeks to add two surgerys on top of that Id hesitate. I had a internal and external hemmoroidectomy and it was a difficult recovery..not the same as yours but its just real delicate tender tissue.Weigh your options resureach and think hard about getting all three at once. Im not an expert on urology I do now a bladder can sometimes be held up w a sling or a few sutures.
Avatar f tn m 43 years old and have just been diagnosed by four different physicians (yes, I was in denial) that I have rectocele, cystocele and prolapsed uterus. They have all recommended a vaginal hysterectomy, said my cervix must come out and I need a bladder hammock. I am very scared. I'm afraid sex won't be as good for my husband because they expressed a little concern about vaginal shortening. I'm worried I will not pick the right physician.
Avatar f tn I am a 53 year old female with 2 vaginal births and have had a hysterectomy. I was just diagnosed with stage 4 vaginal vault prolapse, cystocele and rectocele. The literature I have read up to this point about the da Vinci robotics describe vaginal vault and bladder sling mesh controlled procedures. My surgeon is Elizabeth Geller of UNC teaching hospitals who has done extensive studies on this procedure and submitted several journal articles.
Avatar f tn I'm a 44-year-old healthy female. I've had seven children, ages 2 to 24, after my last one I asked for a partial hysterectomy, my doctor tied my tubes. I'm a 44-year-old healthy female. I've had seven children, after my last one I asked for a partial hysterectomy, my doctor tied my tubes. Heavy bleeding and cramps for 7 to 8 days instead of my normal 4 day light periods.
Avatar f tn html I hope this helps I have been doing research on this ever since I was told I needed a rectocele and cystocele along with a hysterectomy. It devastated me and I value my health I am only 55 but feel that the doctors are looking for a way to keep their practice by performing operations with the mesh and making statements that they would not do anything to me that they would not do to their own wife, mother, sister or any family member. After doing the research I have no trust in them.
Avatar f tn In general most doctors will use intravaginally estrogen, pill or cream, nightly for 2 weeks and then twice weekly thereafter for maintenance. Using estrogen for 4 to 6 weeks is generally enough time to show improvement in the vagina for surgery.
Avatar f tn Which did not work last time. Also my gp says that the cystocele has gone too far and big for pelvic floor exercises to work. Do I try to change hospital. Or ask ask the gp to get in touch with the gyno so he can repair this again. I cant wait the 17 weeks to see the gyno again. I want this lump gone and feel me again It has destroyed my self esteem .
