Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy endometriosis bowel

hysterectomy

1222892 tn?1312148824 Yes endometriosis can be on the bowel and bladder for example. Sometimes there are places in which the doctor is unable to remove it all.
Avatar f tn Do you have endometriosis? If so, hysterectomy is not a cure for endo so the pain can come back or never improve after hysterectomy. It's possible too it could be your bowel as the bowel is displaced when the uterus is removed and can cause problems.
Avatar n tn My mom had to have a bowel resection when she had her hysterectomy. Her surgery lasted over 4 hours and they had to call a general surgeon in to work on her bowels. She has been fine ever since. I also had a hysterectomy and had endometriosis. I did not have any bowel issues and my surgery was less than 2 hours. I had a gyn/onc. do my surgery. They have 3 more years of surgical training and are better at removing the endo and of course cancer if that it a concern.
Avatar f tn I stay in Houston and have found an endometriosis specialist, he advised me to do bowel surgery after lap but he never suggested me to get rid of female hormones. However he wants me to go on 3 month lupron shots which I am not very sure about.
477837 tn?1457461992 I constantly feel pressure on either side of my very lower abdomen. I can not have a bowel movement without repeatedly pushing on both of these places. It right were the Psoas muscle is on both sides . It feels like there is a knot there. I have to take laxatives to have a bowel movement but these days that doesn't help much. I've been dealing with this since I was diagnosed with Endometriosis in May 2008. I had a partial Hysterectomy in Dec. 2008 & kept my right ovary.
Avatar f tn Mine was on the outside, but I also had a large fibroid pressing on my bladder and later, at the time of my hysterectomy, the dome of my bladder was found folded and stuck to my uterus with the sticky endometriosis. I was having to go it seemed (and sometimes literally) about every five minutes. The fact you have a strong tie on with your period makes endometriosis seem a likely culprit. Gold standard to verify you have it is surgery. I didn't know I had it until my first laporotomy.
Avatar m tn Did / do you have endometriosis? That may explain it. Bowel issues can also cause cramping.
Avatar n tn I am a 32 year old female. History of endometriosis. Hysterectomy at age 23 with just one ovary remaining. For the past month I have been experiencing a pressure in my rectum. It is not a terrible pressure, it feels as if though I need to have a bowel movement. I do have bowel movements quite regularly, lately they have been a little more narrow than usual. I am concerned because this pressure has been constant for a month. Could this be related to my history of endometriosis?
Avatar f tn is the diagnoses the same? is there anything to do for it? i had a hysterectomy in my twenties but still have a battle with it and im fixing to turn forty. i have had a severe case of it. thanks so much....
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed when I was 18 and have had 4 laporoscopic surgeries, a hyteroscopy, two miscarries and finally the hysterectomy. I had a lot of pain. I thought my problems would go away after the hysterectomy but I guess I was wrong. I am very blessed to have a daughter and son, very blessed. I had tried all types of birth control to help things and nothing worked.
Avatar f tn s a symptom of endometriosis. I started looking into it and the symptoms match up. My painful bowel movements and sharp pains occasionally during sex. I have bloating around my period before and after and pelvic discomfort. My periods aren't heavy or long because I'm on birth control and my cramps aren't that bad. Also I've had problems with hip pain ever since i remember and sciatica.
Avatar f tn I am 44 years old. I had a hysterectomy 4 years ago for fibroids. I have a history of ruptured cysts. Since the surgery I've had issues with painful sex, bladder urgency, trouble emptying bladder and bowel issues. Over the last year I started having severe bloating, nausea, and lower back pain. I started to wonder if I was having trouble with cysts again. I got an ultrasound last week and learned I have a cyst on both ovaries. One is hemorrhagic.
Avatar f tn I am sorry you are suffering from both PCOS and endo that is leading you to hysterectomy. I assume you already know that hysterectomy is not a cure for the insulin resistance of PCOS or for endo. Some women do get relief, either temporary or permanent, but some don't (I don't know the percentages). I had a hysterectomy 9 years ago at age 49 - absolutely the WORST thing that has ever happened to me but I did not have a chronic pain condition.
Avatar f tn You also want a skilled surgeon who would check the cul-de-sac area that is harder to visualize for endometriosis and make sure they adequately bowel prep you, just in case.... endometriosis can also grow on and into them, though thankfully, I didn't have that. I fared much better with the pain after my hysterectomy compared to after my first surgery, where they kept everything, although my bladder was a real trial since they cut a 2 cm chunk out of the wall of it.
Avatar f tn I have had my gall bladder removed, part of my small bowel removed (due to endometriosis), mesh put in my abdomen from a hernia and a hysterectomy. My last surgery was approx 3 years ago. Since then, I have had loose yellow bowel movements, chronic pain in my abdomen, shoulders, knees, feet and hands. Cymbalta helped but caused constipation. With that being said and the research I have done, my question is: Is it possible that I have fibromyalgia?
Avatar f tn The forum hystersisters is excellent as it has a whole section on endometriosis and how women have dealt with it through hysterectomy or other means. Take a look and I do understand how you're feeling. It's a very hard thing to come to terms with as a woman. Look after yourself and don't be afraid to cry when you need to Prayers sent your way.
Avatar f tn ( no I was hoping the hysterectomy would solve my endometriosis pain. I thought they could scrape out the scar tissue during the hysterectomy? Why do you wish you hadn't had the hysterectomy? I'm in so much pain today. Usually it's bearable. Dr just prescribed bed rest and Vicodin and if not better by Thursday she will do another ultrasound. This is so discouraging. She also ordered blood work that would show cancer risk. Now something else to worry about.

477837 tn?1457461992 I have had bowel problems since April 2007. I could not have a bowel movement when I had my period. After much research on my part, I realized I had Endometriosis & had a laporoscopy done on May 22, 2008. After all the endometriosis was all cleared out, a week later I went regular formed bowel movements everyday for a week. Then I got my period & I went right back to not having any bowel movements. I only went once a week with an enema. I got a supracervical hysterectomy on Dec.
Avatar f tn endometriosis of ovary, Endometriosis of rectoviginal septum and vagina, Endometriosis of pelvic peritoneum, before my consultant said I also have adenomyosis, my next surgery on 3rd October to remove all endometriosis..I'am really tired of this disease, its true this disease destroy your life, relationship, work, family, everything....
Avatar n tn My uterus is completely fixed and all of the doctors are giving me the same options. At this point, I am considering the Hysterectomy as a chance for freedom. To be free of the pain associated with everyday tasks: bending, lifting, going to the bathroom, walking down stairs, eating, etc. My mother had her uterus removed at 35 due to cancer. Having it removed would ensure that I don't follow in her footsteps. I just don't know what else to do.
Avatar f tn Im 26 and have endometriosis anf ovarian cyst on my right ovary. I also have a heart shaped uterus. I have been dealing with extreme pain for about 3 years now and am considering having my uterus and right ovary removed. By the way i got my tubes tied to answer any questions about children i have 2. My question is how will it affect my sex drive and my hormones? Will i do in to menopause with the removal of one ovary?
