Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy complications years later

hysterectomy

Avatar f tn I am a 36 year old who had to have a hysterectomy 8 years ago due to uncontrollable bleeding.. partial hysterectomy.. my ovaries, tubes, and part of my uterus are still intact.. cervix is gone.. factory closed.. haha.... recently I have had tremendous pains in the lower left quadrant of my abdomen, and this as of late coincides with bleeding vaginally.. bright red blood, so it's not "old" blood..
Avatar f tn had to go back a year later, countless pills later and have what is called a BSO big word is bilateral sapingo Ooperectomy means removal of ovary and tubes. Addhesions can be serious if they comprimise the bowel. YES ER drs are obligated to treat you, they will tell you your diagnosis load you up with pain pills tell you you need surgery and sorry but send you home.
Avatar f tn Hi- Just wondering if anyone out there had any complications post total hysterectomy? I had mine 3 months ago due to several cysts again! Paternal grandma died of ovarian cancer at age 50. I had 15 years of cysts, and a total of 8 laporosopies. I am not even 40 yet! Any how, at my 8 wk check up my oncologist said everything was fine, no infection, no cancer, etc., I can try having sex with my husband. We did everything was fine.
Avatar f tn I heard that pregnancy and hysterectomy can cure endometriosis. It can also attack again as far as you still menstruate. Menopause will cure completely. What type of surgery you had?
Avatar n tn I have been experiencing severe pain and discomfort from a combination of ovarian cysts and fibroids for 3 years now. I was treated with birth controls pills and then steroids and nothing has worked. I just got back the results of my most recent ultrasound. I have 2 cysts on an ovary and 2 fibroids. The doctor has talked to me about a myomectomy option vs. hysterectomy for the fibroid removal. I don't know which way to go on this.
Avatar f tn I need to serve for another 26 years.
Avatar m tn I had a salpingo oopherectomy on both sides, a hysterectomy as well as a appendectomy on February 5th 2013. I am 27 years old. Since the procedure was done I have had severe lower abdominal pain while urinating. I have been very sick. Does anyone have an idea of what this pain is from?
Avatar f tn I had 2 surgeries 2 years ago, and the last was a horizontal cut hysterectomy. My muscles in my stomach are still not mended, and my colon was scarred during one surgery. So, I cannot enjoy my usual presurgery workouts. I was in the military for 11 years, so having this new pouch in my stomach is new for me. I'm already a vegetarian, don't eat sugar often, but I cannot get the weight off. As a matter of fact, it goes up and down all of the time. Has anyone else been in this situation?
Avatar f tn I know personally I would have preferred to have been given the option to decide for myself even if it meant complications and more surgeries later to take out the uterus. So I completely feel for you and your situation. I know without a shadow of a doubt that I would persue legal action with the medical board and also civil litigation. Was there no discussion whatsoever during your pre-op consult of the possibility of taking the uterus at the time of procedure if indicated as necessary?
Avatar f tn You've answered a very old thread, so it's unlikely the previous poster will respond. I had a hysterectomy at 46 and was placed on estrogen patches, but only used them for a couple of years and my doctor said I didn't need them any longer. I had hot flashes and night sweats for a good 10-12 yrs after my hysterectomy. I finally got my doctor to admit that they no longer had anything to do with menopause, but he wasn't willing to try to find out what was causing them.
Avatar m tn the next evening i did not feel well so i went to bed. about an hour later my husband checked on me to find me shivering with a really high temperature. i ended up being rushed into hospital that same night and doctors diagnosed me with streptococcal septicemia. I was put in to icu and was very poory. after having really strong iv antibiotics i was getting worse so i had to have a ct scan. on this they noticed that my womb had been damaged by the procedure and also my bowel.
Avatar f tn I am scheduled for a Total Hysterectomy in mid-April. Initally when I decided to do the procedure I thought it would be a permenant birth control solution and give me seven days of my life back a month. However, I've done some research and have begun to question my decision. There are a lot of horor stories out there. I am also unsure about the research because the sample sizes are often so small in the studies.
Avatar f tn i was hospitalized the next day for complications from hernia surgery. since then i have had problems and now im bleeding vaginally which i shouldnt be considering i dont have a period from a hysterectomy. i told my doctor and she said it was from irritation where my ovary was removed but the bleeding went from spotting to a light period. what should i do?
Avatar f tn But your saying you feel the Same way you did 5 years ago while you were taking the medication? Why would you wait 5 years to try to find out what's wrong? Dont know what medication you were taking but you should not be feeling any of the symptoms you had from 5 years ago. You should seek medical advice. It sounds to me that you have an underlying medical condition and when you were taking the pain killers it made the symptoms of your condition worse.
1053613 tn?1255987994 Has anyone had their hysterectomy by robotics? Im having the robotics hysterectomy on Dec. 30 and was wondering how the recovery has been for someone who has that type of surgery.
Avatar f tn It is likely to be just a coincidence that you have developed symptoms post your hysterectomy. Diabetes is a chronic disease and complications are unlikely to develop over a few weeks or months and alternative possibilities to the cause of your symptoms may need to be considered. I would suggest getting this evaluated by a primary care physician initially and depending on the cause diagnosed/ suspected, it can be managed accordingly or specialist care may be sought. Hope this is helpful.
314833 tn?1263259499 Ok, so I am having an abdominal Hysterectomy on November 4th. I am looking for what to expect and ideas for dinners to freeze and anything else that could be helpful....I am stressing over it....Scared, confused, worried.... Avatar f tn Then another 10 years later as the permanent style stitch at the cervical site was red and causing severe pain. The Dr. cut it out and removed it and put a dissolving stitch there. I have not had problems since. However, I just discovered I had clips where the ovaries were following a back x-ray. I did not even know they were there. No one told me nor asked me if that could be a problem. I am allergic to metals. I have had severe pain and swelling of the lower abdomen for over 15 months now.
178345 tn?1242536246 Just wondering ...i had my full hysterectomy back in May 07..The last few days I have been having a pain in my lower buttocks on the left side..i had this pain before the hysterectomy so i assumed it was from the cysts or endo..It feels like a pressure or something. it is not constant ...does anyone know what this could be...I have no ovaries, tubes, no uterus just a small piece of my cervix so what could it be?
