hysterectomy

Avatar n tn My cuz had a lap. hysterectomy 5 wks ago. 1st complication was that bowel had been cut during surgery. MD went back in through large midline lower adb. incision to repair bowel. 2nd complication, midline incision became infected. It was partially opened to drain out infection. She went home after 13 days in hospital. Once home she had severe abd. pain and was unable to have BM.
Avatar f tn they were collapsing my colon, thus I was Dx. with Irritable Bowel Syndrome, but it was all due to adhesions from my radical hysterectomy. Please find my journal entry on Surgical adhesions and read or print it and read. If your doctor gives you the go-ahead to try this type of deep massage, it just may be the answer. It is like a well-kept secret and I cannot tell you how many women seem to suffer from this problem. It was an exercise coach who literally saved me!
Avatar n tn Have recently found that I have a cyst the size of large melon on one ovary, and have been sheduled to have surgery in a couple of months time. However, my gynae surgeon has arranged for a 'bowel surgeon' to be there at the same time as he will need to operate on me at the same time. I was so flabbergasted when he said this, that all sensible questions went out of my mind. Only afterwards did I realise that I should have asked him why we needed this other surgeon.
Avatar f tn And removing the uterus will cause other problems with the bladder and bowel because the uterus is a placeholder and separator for the bladder and bowel. Once it is removed those organs drop and no longer have the uterus to separate them which can cause pelvic organ prolapse and fistulas. The vagina can also collapse / prolapse without its connection to the uterus. I'm 10 years post-hysterectomy and my vagina has been like a crumpled up shirt sleeve for some time now...very disgusting.
Avatar f tn t see your post. Since the uterus helps to keep the bladder and bowel anchored, hysterectomy can lead to prolapse of bladder and bowel. Does she really have a prolapse or maybe some other cause for frequent urination? As women age, frequent urination seems to be fairly common even without prolapse. If her bladder is truly prolapsed, a pessary can be used to suspend it (along with the uterus). There are some that don't have to be changed very often.
Avatar f tn i am having female problems with my female organs. i am postmenopausal. the gyn dosen't want to operate because i have lots of adhesions from several surgeries in my abdomen. they are monitoring my problems every 3 months. he stated your cancer risk is low. how do they know this for sure. don't they have to operate on me for an exact diagnosis of cancer. they want to do a hysterectomy but they are scared because of complications of adhesions.
15946915 tn?1444173614 Then 10 days after my surgery, I had complications, as my bowel twisted and I had to have emergency surgery to have part of my bowel removed. I almost died, but I am lucky and I feel not too bad for the most part, but I am now having problems with my estrogen. It is very very low which I expected after having my 1st operation. I have a lot of hot flashes and nausea. I also have anxiety and feel depressed at times. I am looking for any one who can give me any advice on my situation.
Avatar f tn I am scheduled for a Total Hysterectomy in mid-April. Initally when I decided to do the procedure I thought it would be a permenant birth control solution and give me seven days of my life back a month. However, I've done some research and have begun to question my decision. There are a lot of horor stories out there. I am also unsure about the research because the sample sizes are often so small in the studies.
Avatar m tn on this they noticed that my womb had been damaged by the procedure and also my bowel. i ended up having an emergency bowel repair and also a full hysterectomy, I have finally recovered but i am still waiting for answers from my surgeon. She did say that she thinks its because i had a c section and it caused an area of my womb to be thin and it was not noticed.
Avatar n tn CT abdomen and pelvis 10/1/2012. TECHNIQUE: Axial images from the lung bases to the symphysis are performed with additional coronal reformatted images. 100 mL of Isovue 370 are given intravenously. Oral contrast is also given. FINDINGS: The lung bases are clear. Abdomen: There is diffuse fatty infiltration of liver. Prior cholecystectomy changes are noted. A probable tiny cyst is noted in the lateral mid spleen measuring only 2 or 3 mm in size on image 27.
Avatar f tn Hi- Just wondering if anyone out there had any complications post total hysterectomy? I had mine 3 months ago due to several cysts again! Paternal grandma died of ovarian cancer at age 50. I had 15 years of cysts, and a total of 8 laporosopies. I am not even 40 yet! Any how, at my 8 wk check up my oncologist said everything was fine, no infection, no cancer, etc., I can try having sex with my husband. We did everything was fine.
Avatar n tn Option 2 is something to think about, however as I discussed about scar tissue, you will get it,,,my ovary became wrapped in scar tissue and was attached to my bowels lead to lots of complications,,A hysterectomy has lots of pluses and minuses at your age, Of corse you will be thrown intomenopause. have you tried Leupron its an injection that will put you into a chemically induced menopause, I have heard many negative side effects as far as emotions running high, crying spells etc.
391401 tn?1202182839 You didnt say if they removed the endo from your bowel or not. I dont think its good to have any kind of blood in your bowel, expecually after surgery. My advice would to be to call your doctor.
Avatar f tn i was hospitalized the next day for complications from hernia surgery. since then i have had problems and now im bleeding vaginally which i shouldnt be considering i dont have a period from a hysterectomy. i told my doctor and she said it was from irritation where my ovary was removed but the bleeding went from spotting to a light period. what should i do?
Avatar f tn s possible too it could be your bowel as the bowel is displaced when the uterus is removed and can cause problems.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know if they do bowel surgery that autmoactly means a hysterectomy? Thank you.
Avatar f tn elevated protein and inflammation and also appear high .......and bowel bleeding with an area of degregated blood flow to a portion. of bowel which may be caused by cyst......my question can a gyn tell for sure its not cancer just y the blood tezt and CT.......many thanks in advance.
Avatar m tn What is the risk of bowel damage from over inflation during a colonoscopy? How can this occur?
Avatar n tn My wife had Gastric Bypass Surgery roux-en-y 8 yrs ago and her gallbladder was removed during this surgery,I read that 17% of patients that had gallbladder removal had long term bowel complications and bile. Or could this be vagus nerve because she is having related symptoms. What kind of doctor can test for vagus nerve disorders?
Avatar m tn recurrence of hernia, adherence of the bowel to the edge of the prosthetic (mesh); adherence of the bowel to the tacks; and trocar (from where the laproscope was inserted) site adhesion or herniation. All these can be treated by cutting the adhesions by another laproscopy. The other possibilities are nerve entrapment in between muscles or due to the tracks of muscles changing direction post surgery.
Avatar m tn I had a salpingo oopherectomy on both sides, a hysterectomy as well as a appendectomy on February 5th 2013. I am 27 years old. Since the procedure was done I have had severe lower abdominal pain while urinating. I have been very sick. Does anyone have an idea of what this pain is from?
Avatar f tn Most people actually do have complications with an abdominal cut hysterectomy, and laporoscopy.
Avatar m tn I had a full abdo hysterectomy 1 yr ago .
Avatar f tn It is likely to be just a coincidence that you have developed symptoms post your hysterectomy. Diabetes is a chronic disease and complications are unlikely to develop over a few weeks or months and alternative possibilities to the cause of your symptoms may need to be considered. I would suggest getting this evaluated by a primary care physician initially and depending on the cause diagnosed/ suspected, it can be managed accordingly or specialist care may be sought. Hope this is helpful.
1100598 tn?1413127426 The risk of these changes tends to increase as the years progress since the bladder and bowel fall after hysterectomy. Adhesions (scar tissue) can further hamper bowel function even to the point of obstruction. The alignment of the spine, hips, and rib cage also change since the uterine ligaments are the pelvis' support structures. That is why the figure changes after hysterectomy and many women complain of back, hip, and rib cage pain as the years progress.
Avatar n tn My mom had to have a bowel resection when she had her hysterectomy. Her surgery lasted over 4 hours and they had to call a general surgeon in to work on her bowels. She has been fine ever since. I also had a hysterectomy and had endometriosis. I did not have any bowel issues and my surgery was less than 2 hours. I had a gyn/onc. do my surgery. They have 3 more years of surgical training and are better at removing the endo and of course cancer if that it a concern.
