411980 tn?1267555591 had anyone had an abdominal (open) Hysterectomy and was awake with mild sedation? I have to have one soon and i am really worried about it.
Avatar m tn What complications should she expect will happen and is there anything she could do to improve this situation. She is also a smoker of tobacco, but will start breathing treatments with ipratropi/alb and obstain from smoking also.
Avatar n tn im have vaginal removal of my uterus and im haveing a spinal block no anesthesia should i stop taking phentermine & advil
Avatar f tn C when they do those as well while you are under general anesthesia). I had no scar tissue INSIDE my uterus until the ablation procedure, which was a "tag on" procedure since they were going in anyway to remove adhesions on the outside of my uterus. :( I have to make a decision re hysterectomy (forced menopause is out of the question, I get migraines and my mom was diagnosed w/breast cancer last year so I am not a good candidate for any hormone therapy).
Avatar f tn 7 percent) had serious complications, and 48 (4 percent) were readmitted to a hospital within the year following surgery because of conditions related to hysterectomy. The most common serious complications were related to the incision or urinary tract problems. Avatar f tn t want to have bad experience with general anesthesia during my hysterectomy surgery. What do I do not to have any bad experience with general anesthesia during my hysterectomy surgery on September21,2016?Please e-mail me back before my hysterectomy surgery.my e-mail address are ***@****.
Avatar f tn So, you are saying that you would live with the uterine cancer because you are afraid you will not survive anesthesia? What does your doctor say about this concern? It is pretty rare to not survive anesthesia, but it is pretty serious to ignore cancer. If they think they can excise the cancer completely with surgery, you then have to talk about the odds. If it's 100% getting over the cancer versus 1% dying from the anesthesia, I know what I would choose.
Avatar f tn Help!!! I have history of many prior abdominal surgeries, and then a hyst, and now I am told I have adhesions due to many pelvic surgeries. History of PCOD BAD! Endometriosis, hysterectomy in 05'. Now my stomach feels like it is on fire, I have to burp and pass gas alot. Could adhesions be causing this? What could this be? I don't know if a surgeon or any dr will treat me, as I dont have any insurance, and dont have SSI or Medicaid yet. Can these adhesions be life threatening?
Avatar f tn i was hospitalized the next day for complications from hernia surgery. since then i have had problems and now im bleeding vaginally which i shouldnt be considering i dont have a period from a hysterectomy. i told my doctor and she said it was from irritation where my ovary was removed but the bleeding went from spotting to a light period. what should i do?
Avatar f tn My doctor tried to do a hysteroscopy and D&C on me (in hospital, general anesthesia) and said cervix is completely scarred shut. 3 weeks until my follow up. We still don't know what is the "area of concern" in my uterus. She mentioned we'll talk hysterectomy next. I'm 46. Do I have options? Trans vag US showed this area, unsuccessful Saline Ultrasound - the wall is up apparently. I do not want to play roulette. If doc thinks it is cancer, I want it out.
Avatar m tn Some months ago I had an anesthesia for a gastroscopy. There were usde the following neuroleptics: propofol, midazolam and fentanyl. I slept for about 2 hours and as soon as I woke up I was abnormally acting like a drunk. That being ended up in a couple of hours but unfortunately some symptoms and problems remained.
Avatar f tn Okay so my c section is tomorrow and I made a mistake of looking up complications for spinal anesthesia...one thing that can go wrong is that it can paralyze the top as well and affect breathing. :( I'm so scared, you guys!!!
Avatar n tn They do like you to cut down prior to surgery as to not have pulmonary complications post anesthesia. Do you have any pulmonary complications from smoking? COPD, Bronchitis? Do you have asthma? These types of things just put you at a higher risk post anesthesia. Doesn't mean you will have problems, just be up front with the anesthesia folks, telling them how much you smoke etc...That way they will be prepared and take all precautions.
Avatar f tn My gynecologist also said I needed a hysterectomy. Even though the frozen section done while I was under anesthesia showed the cyst was benign (MOST cysts even complex ones are benign), he removed all my organs anyway. That was 8 years ago and the problems caused by the surgery are never-ending. I was horrified how quickly I aged post-op.
Avatar f tn I have suffered from fibromyalgia for over 15 years. I have never before had any type of surgery or general anesthesia. Unfortunately, I am continuing to experience constant, aching, debilitating pain in my right rib cage post-op. My doctors say that the pain will "go away", and is to be expected. But, I begin to wonder if it is true. For those of you who have had a similar procedure, how does fibromyalgia complicate the recovery process?
Avatar m tn I had a salpingo oopherectomy on both sides, a hysterectomy as well as a appendectomy on February 5th 2013. I am 27 years old. Since the procedure was done I have had severe lower abdominal pain while urinating. I have been very sick. Does anyone have an idea of what this pain is from?
Avatar f tn Most people actually do have complications with an abdominal cut hysterectomy, and laporoscopy.
Avatar f tn Just curious if anyone else in this forum after having hysterectomy was having nightmares every night right after the surgery? I seem to be having VERY vivid, strange, scary, and weird nightmares since having my surgery. It's not just once a night, it's more like two, three times a night. Sometimes I wake up crying and sometimes I wake up screaming and yelling. These are so bad that I am almost afraid to go to sleep at night now.
Avatar f tn It is likely to be just a coincidence that you have developed symptoms post your hysterectomy. Diabetes is a chronic disease and complications are unlikely to develop over a few weeks or months and alternative possibilities to the cause of your symptoms may need to be considered. I would suggest getting this evaluated by a primary care physician initially and depending on the cause diagnosed/ suspected, it can be managed accordingly or specialist care may be sought. Hope this is helpful.
Avatar f tn The procedure may be done using a local or spinal anesthesia, sometimes they put you into a twlight sleep,,drs usually use heat or freezing chemicals to take off edometrial layer,,,seems to be more common now than the D&C method,,,,in theory it should work...
Avatar m tn I'm so sorry you've also been diagnosed with breast cancer! **********HUGS********* I was hoping someone would reply but i suspect medhelp doesn't currently have anyone with personal breast cancer and MS experience, i can't actually recall anyone specifically with breast cancer posting in the MS community before. Have you tried connecting with people in any of the bigger MS specific sites eg MS World or speaking to your local MS society for advice? Hugs.........
Avatar f tn Hi- Just wondering if anyone out there had any complications post total hysterectomy? I had mine 3 months ago due to several cysts again! Paternal grandma died of ovarian cancer at age 50. I had 15 years of cysts, and a total of 8 laporosopies. I am not even 40 yet! Any how, at my 8 wk check up my oncologist said everything was fine, no infection, no cancer, etc., I can try having sex with my husband. We did everything was fine.
3185070 tn?1344700577 I just went in a year after my hysterectomy for an odor and the gyn said it was granulation tissue. Is this normal?
Avatar f tn When I had my cysts removed via laparotomy, they had planned to do a total hysterectomy and spinal anesthesia is common for hysterectomies. I believe that standard anesthesia is used but is inserted through an epidural in your spine. Afterwards this is left in place for a bit and your pain medications are fed through it. They will keep close attention and continually test your freezing with cold. I had an epidural with my son and this did feel differently.
1212601 tn?1276920691 My advice would be not to rule anything out, it really does depend at the time on how well you are coping with the pain and whether or not there are any complications. If you are able to cope with little or no pain relief then it is certainly IMHO the quickest to recover from but don't put yourself through unneccessary pain. Hope this helps.
