Hysterectomy and what to expect

Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy and what to expect

hysterectomy

Avatar f tn I'm 24 years old and I'm scheduled to have a complete hysterectomy next month on the 24th. Can anyone tell me what to expect after surgery, please?
717440 tn?1292743742 The best person to ask what to expect before and after the hysterectomy is your physician performing the procedure because he knows your case better than I or anyone else. Your physician should give you and your hubby a thorough explaination of what he is going to do and projected expectations. Please make sure you understand and have all your questions answered by your physician before agreeing to this.
Avatar n tn When I went back, she told me that I had a 7 x 4 complex mass on my right ovary. She scheduled surgery for 4/30 and was said she was going to remove the mass, my right ovary and right fallobian tube. I live in a very small town so I called my obgyn that delivered my son (in a much larger city). He scheduled me with a gyno-oncologist and my appointment is in the morning. All the first doctor told me was that the mass "was the kind that worried them".
Avatar f tn I am 52, never went through menopause, and getting ready to go through a radical hysterectomy. I have cerival cancer, caught early. I have no idea what to expect or how to handle thrown in menopause. Any suggestions how to prepare for this venture?
Avatar f tn Hi ALL: I just been told I have to have both ovaries removed and tubes due to high CA125 test, a cyst and strong family history of cancer. I am 45 and pre-menapusal, so I am wondering what to expect with the sudden slam into menopause they don't want me to take hormones but I don't think I can cope without them, I have a two year old and a large family to care for. I am also worried that they will find cancer is a CA 125 test of 44 bad?
Avatar f tn My mother inlaw has been off painkillers for 5months and is still having withdrawals. She usually has them around the 10th of the month. She is wondering what to expect and for how long. She usually gets night sweats, flu symptoms, anger...etc...I have never been addicted to anything so im not sure what she's feeling or what she should expect. If someone could help that would be great....
Avatar n tn I had two high risk preg within two years (my boys we delivered by C-section in Aug 06 and Aug 07). I had a abdominal hysterectomy July 08 but was able to keep my ovaries. I woke up last night in A LOT of pain. I went to my family doctor today thinking it might be a kidney stone or kidney infection. I did not have blood in my urine so he ordered a CT. The CT showed a complex cyst in my left ovary. I have an appointment with my GYN doctor tomorrow. What is next?
Avatar f tn Hello, After 30 years of dealing with endo, I'm seriously considering surgery to remove adhesions on my left ovary and whatever else they can find. I'm not interested in a hysterectomy at this point nor do I want to go on Lupron. I've been on birth control since 25 and it did wonders for pain and controlling my cycle but after having my son, I seriously think that the endo spread or something because I'm always in pain whether on my cycle or not.
Avatar m tn I am a healthy 49 year old and need to have a hysterectomy because of an enlarged uterus and fibroids. I would like to know what to expect after the surgery. I am not having my ovaries removed and maybe leaving the cervix. Woudl like to know thoughts of leaving the cervix and how is it post surgery.
Avatar f tn Well at last, and again more surgery Im scheduled for urgent surgery within the next 2 weeks, but my consultant still really worries me, im having a laproscopy this time, as because its only 6 months after last surgery to remove the cyst and massive adhesions, he is going in just to see what they are dealing with first, and then if have to convert to laproatomy if needed, i think my bladder and bowel have stuck down again, but have 3 haemorragic cysts over 5cm each in my only ovary and he does
551683 tn?1220656108 I don't know what to expect after my D&C and endometrial ablation. Anyone know? I'm not sure when. They will call tomorrow or Mon. with the dates for me. I'm just curious as to what to expect. I know that a lot of it depends on exactly what all they do, but I have no idea what to expect.
Avatar f tn Unfortunately, I didnt get to have a restful recovery as I had to take care of a child for emergency care, and that threw a kink into recovery, its been almost 4 months since surgery, im back to work now, but i still find that my hormones are wacky(even with being on birth control), and i still have days where im just wiped, and stomach can still be tender. Listen to your body, when its too much, stop.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your answer, and it was almost six weeks post-op, so I did call my Gyn and they called me in for an office visit. It does take time for healing, and fortunately he seemed to find nothing wrong with me and the area on the cervix where the polyps were removed had healed nicely.
Avatar f tn The doctor they found was not my choice and did not do what he shoud have. So, I recommend going to one now and getting their advice. You know your body and if you are feeling bad keep at the doctors until they give you some information that will help you! I hope you will be feeling better soon!
955060 tn?1251260239 Hi. I'm 26, have three kids and on August 6th. I'll be having a total hysterectomy. I've been dealing with severe endometriosis since I was 16 (shortly after the birth of our first daughter). it has spread and gotten so bad that I have to take prescription pain pills for the pain. I sometimes have to skip doing things with my kids (ages 10 years, 2 years and 2 months) because it hurts so bad.
Avatar f tn I have ice packs prepared as per the recommended preemie diaper icing method. But I have been given no idea what to expect, other than to fill the script for pain meds and stay off my feet. My house is a tri-level, with the bedroom 7 steps upstairs. Will I be OK to get upstairs with help? Or is that too much of an initial exertion, meaning I should plan to sleep on the couch in the living room for the first night?
Avatar f tn I know what you mean! I chalk my figure changes up to a hysterectomy since the cutting of those pelvic / uterine ligaments destroys the pelvis' structure. Within 2 years, my rib cage had fallen, spine compressed, and my waist, flat abs, and the curve in my lower back disappeared. I abhor this blob of a figure and flat butt look! Ugh!!!
Avatar f tn 9 cm large, minimal fluid in the cul de sac, and a thickened cystic endometrial lining with a significant amount of vascular flow, I have another ultrasound coming up and I was just curious what all of this means and what would be the next step if this cyst is still there? Is this cyst large? Am I at any risk of this cyst being malignant? Thank you!
Avatar n tn My mom was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2005. Had hysterectomy. She started chemo in 2007 had chemo for 2 yrs then developed blood clot in lung and her Dr and her decided no more chemo. Just let the cancer run its course and enjoy what time she has left without being sick all the time.
Avatar f tn Probably should have just had the hysterectomy. So any feedback on what to expect from Megace would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.
Avatar m tn Now I have a Small Bowel Obstruction, extreme pain, vomiting( sometimes blood), fever, bloody stools. I was referred to a surgeon and we are doing a laparoscopy to remove the obstruction and remove the adhesions that are causing them. How successful are these surgeries??Is this something that can be fixed and for how long??
Avatar f tn Told hysterectomy possibly in future. Decided to end suffering now. A vaginal hysterectomy in the upcoming month. What can I expect before and after surgery.
Avatar m tn I am nervous because Friday I go in it has my tubes and ovaries removed as well as thinning of scar tissue from my hysterectomy.
