Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy and pmdd

hysterectomy

Avatar f tn I'm so happy to find a site that talks about pmdd....I'm 40 yrs old...2 kids and great hubby!! Unfortunatly I turn into a stranger when I start the process of ovulation and it gets worse as I go!! attentively scheduled hysterectomy 10/23/2015.... After seeking many treatments that of course failed! I ask today if anyone has done what I plan on doing soon..." And how do you feel now"?
Avatar f tn Now, within the same day, I go from ravenous hunger and wanting to eat everything in sight to dry heaves and back to starving. It feels very much lille pregnancy. I had a hysterectomy last year for PMDD. They left one ovary. I'm trying to determine if I could still be having reactions to ovulation but symptoms seem to frequent. I'm also diagnosed with Panic DO and Major Depression. It's it all psychological?
661941 tn?1297447355 I was just curious to see if anyone else has had problems with severe PMS (or PMDD), along with their diagnosis of complex ovarian cysts? My cycle has been irregular for the past 6 mths. (been 3 mths. since my last period) I am 48 yrs. old, so I know this can be expected at this age. Also, I had light bleeding for 6 weeks in this time, which prompted making the appt. with the gyn/onc. But it seems when I start having symptoms of starting my period, (which I am now)...
605458 tn?1539228808 No, it's not PMDD. I have a pretty classic case of Bipolar I Disorder and the condition responds to the therapy I get that is specifically for Bipolar Disorder. I do some wicked PMS, but not to point that it qualifies for PMDD. The surgeon has already explained and given me information about the type of hysterectomy he would do, so I'm assuming that means his plan is to do that in the event that I can't get the hormone. Another thing I worry about is weight gain.
Avatar f tn my dr put me on premarin for hrt...it helped me alot and i had pmdd before my hysterectomy...mine was june 2011 for removal of cervical cancer i've been on premarin ever since, it does work ask your dr what he thinks.
Avatar f tn //www.webmd.com/women/pms/premenstrual-dysphoric-disorder#1. Premensrual dysphoric disorder or pmdd is real. And treatable. Give that article a read and see what you think!
Avatar f tn I had a complete hysterectomy in 2006, because my PMDD was severe. The only change from that was no more periods. I still have cramps, mood swings, cycstic acne; not once but twice a month. I don’t have ovaries and I have tried every hormone replace (pellets, creams, compounded bio identical hormones). Nothing helps. My doctors have opened me up and cleaned the surgery area, but have given up on a answer for me. I’m a life long type 1 diabetic with thyroid dis order.
Avatar f tn For the past year, I've been having between 1 to 2 weeks of pure rage before my period. I've been looking into this and it may be PMDD, which is a much more severe version of PMS. People normally get more depressing thoughts, but I just get rage and to an alarming point. Did anyone have any suggestions for treatment? I've read that only 10% of women have this.
1097853 tn?1260942431 It is, however, considered to be a very severe form of PMS that affects about 5% of menstruating women. Both PMDD and PMS share symptoms in common that include depression, anxiety, tension, irritability and moodiness. What sets PMDD apart is its severity. Women with PMDD find that it has a very disruptive effect on their lives. Please read on to get more information about PMDD -- what it is, how it is diagnosed and how it is treated.
Avatar f tn I'm 40 with a history of pms/pmdd and pcos. Had a total vag hysterectomy ( both ovaries removed) 2 weeks ago. I feel I made a mistake having a total. I thought the hormones could be replaced, but my gyn says I don't need progesterone because I don't have a uterus. I use a rx spray estradiol. But, I thought my probs were due do estrogen dominance.
Avatar f tn It’s constant so it can’t be PMDD, the only reason I don’t like presenting feminine is because it relates to the organs (if I could just get rid of them and that’s all I’d be over the moon) so I don’t think it’s dysphoria and it seems to be too intense for a phobia and I can’t find anyone else with this phobia.
Avatar f tn I also suffer with pmdd and yes a lot of the symptoms mimic early pregnancy I have one child so I know what early pregnancy feels like I notice breasts tenderness nausea sometimes vomiting a lot of strange cravings before my diagnoses I thought I was crazy especially when I hadn't been having sex with anyone during the time with this disorder you really have to listen to your body
2010625 tn?1329372056 Hello, welcome to medhelp! I am sorry you suffer PMDD, that's hard. I know that in my area, there is a subspecialty of psychiatrist that specializes in woman's issues specifically. Identifying and treating PMDD is becoming more common but has a long way to go. People joke about having PMS but the implications of PMDD are far greater as you know. I've never suffered it but have a friend who has.
Avatar n tn t sound very severe that or your one of the ones that cycle like myself...my answer and you may not like it....marijuana...
9177436 tn?1402160034 Drink plenty of fluids, eat frequent small meals, fresh fruits and vegetables, cut down on caffeine and eat Calcium rich foods include dairy products, dark green vegetables, nuts, grains, beans and canned salmon and sardines (with bones). Calcium supplements may also be used. You can take OTC pain killers for the muscle cramps.
Avatar f tn at 42 I am sick and very TIRED of extremely painful cysts forming on my right ovary (had lap to remove nasty one less than 2 yrs ago and have had 3 or 4 b/t then and now). GYN & I are trying to set date to remove ovary. I am very happy about that too! But I am also thinking about having my uterus removed. I have had extremely painful periods since they began. Hovering over toilet, not being able to eat, nausea, faintness, crazy mood swings, etc.
Avatar m tn I do naturally suffer from anxiety and depression, but it was well treated with medication. On Thursday, I had a large cyst removed, along with my right ovary, and surgery to "scrape out" the endometriosis. I actually thought this would be a relief because most of my depressive symptoms came prior and during my period. I've been anti-depressants for years, but this is so different. I just feel hopeless and empty.
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with PMDD in my mid forties and have recently discovered a history of bipolar disorder on both mine and my husband's side of the family. In doing some research and reading books on this disorder, it seems like most of the symptoms are the same in both disorders. The only real difference I can see if the frequency of the cycles as women with PMDD cycle pretty much every month where those with bipolar disorder cycle much less frequently.
Avatar f tn m not past menpause yet. How do I know if I still need this drug for pmdd or if thew pmdd was just a transitional problem?
1305767 tn?1361192676 No MMahon I am not on birth control but I do know this girl who has severe PMDD and her doctor put her on birth control and it is helping with the PMDD
Avatar n tn s lasted 3 months, it is probably PMDD...and maybe the Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo was helping the symptoms of PMDD, but now that she has switched, the symptoms are becoming visible. Tell her to go to her doctor, to see if it is PMDD.
Avatar f tn For the last 6 months or so maybe more, I have been having a reoccurring issue that no one can seem help me resolve, let alone find the reason for. I'm at my wits end with this and I'm scared that it might be something more serious. So anyway like I said the last 6 months or more I have been having this horrible horrible foul smelling odor coming from my vagina. and I've done everything I can possibly think of to resolve it. it even smells after I have a shower.
Avatar m tn Thanks for the comment, you gave me a lot of good info, it's always better to hear from the people who've tried these meds, etc! She doesn't have to tell her diagnosis,no, but she would, we're very close and talk often, esp about this. The doctor didn't tell her a diagnosis, except PMDD. She was on Prozac before for the PMDD and the doctor thinks that caused the suicidal thoughts, as she's young and it sometimes has the reverse effect in teens.
Avatar f tn Have you ever considered PMDD? Look it up. I know quite a few woman that suffer from it! And a lot of woman with endo and pcos have it! Just a thought!
Avatar n tn Look up PMDD and read the symptoms and I bet you will see yourself there. If you do then make an appointment with a gyno as soon as possible and they have I think low dose birth control pills to control this, I mean I am not positive. But I do know that I have heard of this before and it it not you but this PMDD and it is totally fixable.
Avatar n tn I have Bipolar 2 and PMDD. I switched from Geodon to Lamictal in December 2010. Since that point, my depression has greatly improved and I feel like my old self. But, ever since I began Lamictal, the Lexapro that controlled the PMDD issue for years, stopped working. I'm now having severe PMDD issues every month. My doctor switched me from Lexapro to Viibryd a week ago. I am experiencing increased appetite, gastrointestinal distress, and can't sleep.
Avatar f tn When I was diagnosed wtih Bipolar they took me off my SSRI and put me on a mood stabilizer, my PMDD was so horrid I was suicidal. There is a discussion about only taking a SSRI for 10 days a month, but the withrdrawal symptoms are so bad that it's better to stay on it, even at a low dose. Long term these drugs are good if you don't have Bipolar or borderline disorder, I would really chat with your doctor before doing anything.
Avatar f tn I ended up finding progesterone and went on to have a hysterectomy it did not fix it but stopped it from clustering into a unbearable state. I have a job now I used to squat in the corner for 13 days at a time Eight years later my daughter started going psychotic every menstrual cycle for 16 days at a time. She is now on natural progesterone only. She was diagnosed at 17 with bipolar without any investigations.
Avatar f tn Background: Diagnosed w/ OCD (health obsessions, not compulsions), PTSD, PMDD, panic attacks So after 5 very unsuccessful attempts at managing my extreme anxiety w/ medication (psychiatrist & PCP), my [new] PCP & I may have had a breakthrough w/ Zoloft. I'm currently taking 25 mg (we started low due to my intolerance of other SSRI's), but this time we combined it w/ .5mg of Xanax (.25mg 2x/day).
