Avatar f tn Most keloids will decrease in size over time. They are scar tissue that has grown and enlarged to a greater degree than they should; eventually they will probably disappear.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have seen comments about the correlation of isotretinoin (accutane) and keloids. I'm prone to develop keloids on the chest, shoulder and back. Is there a chance to develop more keloids during and after the course of taking isotretinoin? Please advise.

Avatar f tn IF you are one of those people who form keloids, I would NOT get any tattoo. And since you HAVE keloids that you are having injected...that's a pretty BIG red flag for tattoos.
Avatar m tn potassium iodide (SSKI). SSKI must be rubbed into the keloid at least twice daily (more applications offer even better results) for several months to more than a year, depending on the severity of the keloid. Be patient, because progress often isn’t obvious for two to three months. Despite the somewhat lengthy treatment period, persistence pays off. Eventually, SSKI will diminish a keloid scar until it’s “just an ordinary scar,” flat to the skin surface again.
Avatar m tn They are more flat and less ball-like compared to piercing keloids that can easily fall off. Would it shrink? Would it make it worse and grow?
Avatar n tn He was incredibly knowledgable about my keloids and inflammation and he reassured me that the psychological damages were, in fact, legitimate. And because of him my suffering ended.
Avatar n tn I went too quickly from a smaller to a bigger size, and now I have these really ugly keloids on my ears where I guaged them. I am hoping there is something that I can do at home to reduce their size or get rid of them. They are somewhat painful but not if I am leaving them alone. I want to gauge my ears again and I think if I make the holes bigger, the keloids will stretch out and not appear visible. Do you have any suggestions for me?
Avatar f tn Hi, Keloids usually occur on the upper chest and shoulders - particularly over the breastbone (sternum) - and on the earlobes. In dark skin individuals they very often occur in the beard area and on the scalp. Injections of a steroid (triamcinolone) are up to date the most successful treatment. After 4-6 sessions keloids usually become flat and the same colour as the surrounding skin. Keep me informed if you have any queries. Bye.
Avatar m tn A couple of weeks ago I had cortisone injections into those keloids, and now I am curious whether the cortisone would affect the results of the test? Since cortisone is an immunosuppressive, would it eliminate HIV antibodies in my blood from the keloids so that the test wouldn't be able to detect any?
Avatar n tn re all flat and some slightly raised maybe. A year ago I bought dermatend which gave me keloids and my moles just ended up growing back anyway accept for the ones that were really bad keloids,. 3 Months ago I bought blemish-free, it got rid of my moles but left me with 2nd degree pink pigmented freezer burns that have barely faded in 3 months, I'm now treating my burn scars and keloid scars with mederma. My question for you is should I go to a laser surgeon for this?
Avatar n tn I got injections for many years and , 2 keloids on back and 1 in arm are flat but 1 keloid in upper arms near shoulders stopped growing for a few years but it rebound after i moved from Canada to Asia. I guess the humidity and i need to move the shoulder and arms often are the causes. The injections back to Asia was very painful and one time can't stop crying for a few hours even after the injection but it doesn't work at all ! it grows very quickly.
Avatar m tn I have 2 keloids on my chest and 3 on my back. I had the steroid injections once a month for 6 months. Initialy the results where good but after about 8 months they started to grow again. I have tried many different treatments and "remedies" and found that a simple block of ice, once a day, directly on the keloid not only took away the itching and redness, but also reduced its size. Have been "icing" the keloid for about 3 weeks now and so far so good...
Avatar n tn Hi, Keloids are an aggressive wound healing process of the body. It is not normal and is known to follow the Koebner phenomenon, according to which lesions like this tend to occur more at sites of repair. Hence and area which has faced some trauma actually is a possible site for keloids. It is usually possible for a dermatologist to differentiate a keloid and an hypertrophic scar which heals much more easily. Therapy includes steroid injection, some dressings and creams and cryotherapy.

Avatar n tn Unfortunately there is no cure for keloids as of now,but just to reduce the size and symptoms there are methods.
Avatar n tn They most often on the chest, back, shoulders, and earlobes. Keloids are firm, rubbery lesions or shiny, fibrous nodules, and can vary from pink to flesh-colored or red to dark brown in color and usually turn unsightly. They sometimes get infected and tend to be itchy, tender, or even painful to the touch. If the keloid becomes infected, it may ulcerate. Another possibility is a mole that has changed its colour or increased in size. This might indicate some precancerous changes.

Avatar f tn I had a 6 cms keloid on the center of my chest for quite over three years. I went to a dermatologist and she injected the keloid with steroids for over 4 months but to no avail, so I stopped going to her. A week ago, small red pimples formed all over the surface surrounding the keloid, so I treated them with a tretinoin (0,5 g) paste, they seemed to get small, and suddenly they turned to big red rash.
Avatar f tn Psoriasis and genital warts is a long term chronic problem and pilar cysts, keloids and molluscum are not chronic. Psoriasis is a non-contagious disorder which affects the skin and joints. It commonly causes red scaly patches to appear on the skin. It can be treated but it commonly has recurrences also. So a regular treatment is required for this.
