Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy and ibs

hysterectomy

Avatar f tn t had the hysterectomy I would be convinced I was about to have a period. I do have IBS, but I am not having any of the other symptoms that I would normally have (no diareaha, not constipated) -- this feels different. Should I be concerned? Do you have any thoughts as to what might be the cause?
341953 tn?1209481891 I guess you could say I am in the same boat as you are - I have A LOT of stomach pain - it could be from the Endo and it could be from the IBS. I have IBS-D. I see from reading your post that you have IBS-C. I can't believe your gyno doctor won't listen to you. You need to get another gyno that will listen.
Avatar f tn Since getting home a week and a day ago from my robotic assisted hysterectomy leaving my ovaries. I feel tingling all over waves of nausea and hot flashes. I feel unable to concentrate on anything. I dont know what is happening with me. If i take my Centrum silver for womens multivitamin i get this sensation within 20min lasting at least 4hrs. I have felt like this all day today.
Avatar f tn ache under right rib ,and right kidney area, aches where my gall bladder was removed years ago,i had a total abdominal hysterectomy one years ago no ovaries,i take no hrt .
Avatar f tn Ive been feeling fine. 41 year old female. Diagnosed years ago with IBS and a long history of hemorrhoids and adrenal fissures. History of pe- cancerous colon polyps at 29. Last colonoscopy was 4 years ago. Last month I unexpectedly lost 14 lbs in less than 2 weeks. Dr sent off blood work(normal), mammogram(normal) and chest, abdomen and pelvic CT. CT showed a calcified granuloma in my lung(usually benign from my readings) and segmental colitis with majority thickening of ascending colon.
Avatar n tn Today I went in for a Laproscopy. This was my third, but unlike before, they found no endometriosis. Instead they found my uterus had adhered to my abdominal wall. Because of this, he was unable to move my uterus to look around for endo. The doctor had suggested a hysterectomy (but leaving my ovaries). My question is has anyone had this done and has it alleviated their pain?
Avatar f tn Thank you so much for the advice, as I have been diagnosed with fibromalgia and IBS and am sure that the headache and diahrea is related.
Avatar f tn I then began to try to do some of my own research. I read on the internet information regarding IBS and thought maybe this was it, but the information you gave me will definitely give me some questions to ask the new Family Physician I am seeing in 2 weeks. Thank you again so much for the information.
Avatar f tn Do you have bowel problems? IBS? I have Endo ibs-c which causes alot of sciatica! and sciatica is the same feeling as arthritis. However prolonged Endometriosis does caus arthritis also as its an eostrogen related disease, I`ve had it so long that my hair falls and I have nails like paper and creaky joints....its only a matter of time for me! but asprin and Flax seed each day is underrated.
Avatar f tn thanx for advise the pains were severe had to breath through them as were just like contractions.. i had a hysterectomy last march and have been doing great until now!!!!

Avatar f tn He did a colon scope 09-15-09 and said that there was nothing, just that I have IBS and prescribed me to take Nortriptyline HCL 25 mg one capsule at bed time.
Avatar n tn At 35 a gyn/oncologist recommended I have a total hysterectomy and oopherectomy based on family history. He said he understood if i sought a second opinion. I got 2 more opinions this time from female gyns. Both said that he was being too drastic and that I should continue CA125s and ultra-sounds. They also said even if I had the surgery I could still get ovca. I also read a book by a well respected female ob/gyn called No More Hysterectomies that agreed with my second opinions.
Avatar f tn i had total hysterectomy done on Sept. 1, 2010. The procedure was a da Vinci laparoscopy or a robot assisted lap. and the uterus was removed thru the vagina. I had D& C thru the same procedure done on Feb. 22. 2010 and never had any problems after that but the second one, the hysterectomy, i'm experiencing severe spasms and pain on the left side of the stomach. The pain is described as squeezing, tightening feeling that never stops.
Avatar f tn Hi , I was just wondering if you ever found out why you had these pains. I am 12 years post total hysterectomy and had everything removed and now having cramping and gas . Looking for some help .
Avatar f tn She cannot find a cause to it even following here recent hysterectomy. She has had 2 C sections and been diagnosed with Lupus a few years ago. IBS has been ruled out as many other common causes.. Tests all come back normal. She did have a severe allergic reaction to oxycodone (codine based) following her surgery recently (Dr thought it was the reproductive system) which paralyzed her limbs, experienced severe joint pain and loss of speech. Very close call!!
1949068 tn?1449628519 I guess maybe there is a connection in maybe issues that can/will come up? Which I had my Hysterectomy Nov. 16, 2011. I already have IBS problems. So should I mention to my doctor to check for polyps, cancer, and/or etc? Any advice will be helpful!
Avatar m tn I am too scared to take them as they are known to cause severe colon inflammation as a side effect especially in ibs sufferers and can cause severe diarrea and bleeding and a worsening of ibs. Response from doctors was just take the pills. From past experience with mild antibiotics i have ended up in hospital with bad ibs flare up resulting. Have also been given a thrush cream. Please, can a thrush cream really help?
Avatar n tn I have had a colonoscopy came out normal and no signs of IBS But they say that is what this is. I have had an endoscopy, duodenal biopsy, gastric biopsy, defrogram MRI, Cat Scan, ulta sounds , laporoscopy. All of these test have been run. The only things found were small hitalhernia, irritated lining of the stomach, tiny spot on my liver and severe endometriosus. I was informed that I would need to have a hysterectomy and that was done. Don't think it is the solution to my problem.
Avatar n tn I am constantly having cramps, and feeling the need to go now. I had a hysterectomy about 7 years ago, and was fine. But the last 5 years have been terrible. Nothing seems to show up, but yet I suffer. I have been trying to lose weight for a while as well, and nothing works. I have counted calories, been on many diets, and nothing helps. Tests say my thyroid is fine. I am borerline diabetic, and want desperately to not go there.
Avatar m tn I suffered from GI issues all my life and was told after seeing a specialist that I had IBS. Wondering now if it was endo related. At any rate, I had more pain this last week or so and have an appt with my GYN this week. If given the choice I don't know if I should do BCP or have a hyster and oophorectomy? I am really torn but this pain and symptoms are making me crazy. I am a nurse so right away I think I have some other thing going on. The pelvic pain is just getting more and more.
Avatar f tn I have been to Cleveland Clinic for severe cramping when ready for bowel movement. This was diagnosis and treated for IBS. Meds do not help this situation ... wondering if anyone else has experienced. Questions to physicians would be since I had complete hysterectomy and everything has dropped should I seek a surgeon to lift up ? Very painful. Also incontinence is becoming on issue feeling like pressure there. Thank you appreciate your thoughts or anyone thoughts from forum on this subject.
1442059 tn?1340240952 In the beginning no bowel movements then I would wake up with the slightest noise and my IBS would kick in as usual only no bowel movement without a great deal of tears and crouching in the corner. This went on for months till i was down to one pill a day then by that time i was on metrocloprimide and it was helping and have been on it since.
Avatar n tn I suffered with breast cancer 8 years ago. Had hysterectomy 12 years ago leaving ovaries. Been experiencing low back pain, discomfort in lower abdomen, similar to period pain although I have no womb, and also need to pass urine more frequently. Is it possible ovarian cancer could be the problem?
Avatar f tn I am experiencing nausea, dizziness, fatigue, loss of appetite (or unable to eat due to nausea), diarrhea, metal taste in my mouth, crumbly stomach, cramping, and shakiness. I have had IBS and acid reflect for years. This seems different. The symptoms seem to be more elevated right before and during my menstrual cycle. Mornings and evenings I also experience elevated symptoms. I often get nauseous before and after a bowel movement.
Avatar n tn you most likely have pelvic organ prolapse! I developed this after my hysterectomy and also look into pelvic floor dysfunction...I understand your misery as I have been living since 2005...went from laxatives, to mag citrate to enemas to colon hydrotherapy...dr's saying I was addicted to the above methods...after a 6.5 hour surgery correcting my anatomy I went from the above methods to going 4-8 times a day...unfortunately my pelvis is destroyed by endometriosis...
