Avatar m tn These hormones are very important for normal functioning of our body and if there is a deficiency of these hormones it is important to take hormone replacement therapy to overcome this deficiency. Please relax HRT will not damage your brain but is essential at the moment for you.
718868 tn?1230730029 m dealing with. I am 26 years old and after having my daughter in 2003, I had to have a hysterectomy due to complications from endometriosis after going into labor. I was left with 1 ovary which for sometime hasn't been working properly. I'm currently taking Premarin 1.25 mg for my hormonal issues but it isn't helping very much. At 26, I have horrible night sweats, hot flashes, crying spells, mood swings, etc...
Avatar n tn re in the midst of one, keep caffeine and hot and spicey dishes to a total minimum or cut them out completely, get a fan for your bedroom that you can turn on and off as needed and generally, do some calming things like yoga, stretching, meditation or anything that you find calming as being stressed will also bring them on with more strength and more often. But, I also agree with the previous poster that getting a blood test to check out your thyroid functions is well worth it.
Avatar f tn Because I had my ovaries removed and am young, my oncologist has me on estrogen only replacement. With all the new information in the news now I don't know what to think. The thing is, these studies are on post menopausal women. I can see where taking a replacement hormone when your body should naturally not be making this hormone anymore could be bad and I wouldn't do it.
Avatar n tn Should a woman who has had her uterus and cervix removed (ovaries are left) take any HRT for hot flashes? It has been 10 years since my hysterectomy and the hot flashes have just begun. I was 42 at the time of the hysterectomy I am now 53.
Avatar f tn Hello, After hysterectomy, hormone replacement therapy would consist of estrogen alone usually given daily by pill or sometimes weekly or biweekly skin patch. However hormonal replacement therapy should be given for a short time only as long term use may be associated with a small increase in breast cancer. In my opinion you should consult a gynecologist and start with hormone replacemenr therapy.
Avatar n tn I used folic acid and black cohosh for my symptoms. I really only had hot flashes and night sweats and using folic acid and black cohosh seemed to lessen the frequency and severity for me. This combination doesn't work for everybody. Check with your doctor before taking these supplements because they can intefer with some prescription medicines...especially for thyroid problems.

Avatar f tn however had a complete hysterectomy at 21 and have been on hormone replacement. I know that the early hysterectomy has caused my bone issues(been on Fosamax and actually just started Reclast this week -2.7) but I wonder if it is effecting the breast? I went in for my annual mamo last week and have been called back yet again. New spot directly under the nipple, same breast. Sheduled US for next week. So two mamos and 2 call backs...I am nervous..
1267412 tn?1270253586 I am 40 and had a total abdominal hysterectomy 8 months ago due to an ectopic pregnancy, endometriosis and a benign tumor. I have been taking hormone replacement since then and would like to know if its REALLY something that I HAVE to do for the next 20 as the doctor said... Ive heard alot about side effects and dont want to put anything into my body that isnt truly necessary. Any advice is greatly appreciated!!
Avatar f tn I was suppose to go for exporitory surgery for the mass that was found on my right ovary but they found it to be cancer and opted, with my consent, to do a total hysterectomy. My doctor, who is a OB/GYN, preformed the surgery and after placed me on Premarin. I was worried after finding out all the health issues around premerin, especially the blood clots, since my mom died of that several years after her hysterectomy.
Avatar f tn On September 29, 2009 I had a complete hystorectomy with a 10lb adnexal mass removed at MD Anderson. An intestinal type cancer of low malignant potential was found. I am waiting to be sceduled for an MRI & Colonoscopy. After my surgery I was prescribed Effexor for my mood swings and hot flashes. The doctor has continued to increase the dosage up to the highest = 150 mg per day. All it has done for me is turn me into a zombie.
Avatar f tn Starting with a smaller dose and possibly upping it if your having any symptoms like hot flashes and such. I really think it would be a good idea for you and your Dr to decide on a hormone replacement before you have the surgery.
Avatar f tn Cysts are quite common and often occur with hormonal variation (including menstruation and hormone replacement therapy). Of course, lumpy breast tissue can also swell as a result of hormonal variation. If you are concerned, you should see your doctor for evaluation and he/she can order an ultrasound, if appropriate. Also, just so you are aware, “natural” hormone replacement has the same risks of estrogen exposure as “clinical” HRT. Estrogen is estrogen, whether it is from soy or the lab.
285896 tn?1237211227 A friend of mine had a hysterectomy when she was in her 30's and she has had her ovaries left in so that she dosent have to have hormone replacement and she said its the best think that she ever did as she had no end of problems and said that she now feels like a total weight has been lifted off her as she no longer has to suffer with surgery, taking tablets etc.... If you are sure you arent having an more children then i say go for it!
Avatar f tn I had a hysterectomy 2 years. ago at the age of 21. I have the Depo Provera hormone shot a week ago. My whole body has been hurting.and I asked to not get it again.has this happened to anyone else.I have never had pain this bad. my endi is worse than before the surgery.what should I do.I have to have hormones I'm only 24.
Avatar m tn What is the best hormone replacement therapy and what hormones are necessary? How can she stay healthy, not gain weight and still be interested in sex? Any other advice about this whole situation would be helpful and appreciated.
Avatar n tn HI, For distressing menopausal symptoms, you will need HRT (hormone replacement therapy) and over the counter medicines will not help. You need a systematic evaluation for hormone levels and a thorough examination to find out whether HRT will be suitable for you. Consult your Doctor. Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn I am 43 and had a full hysterectomy 6 weeks ago but prior to that was having menopause symptoms. I went on the Vivelle hormone replacement patch the day of surgery and everything went away. Even all my menopausal symptoms prior to my surgery. I don't have any issues at all.
Avatar f tn FSH, LH, estrogen, progesterone, androgens and prolactin. If they are found to be in menopausal levels then, hormone replacement therapy will help a lot. Even if the ovaries are not removed, post hysterectomy many women suffer from such symptoms. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar f tn I was not told much and neither was my mom. Am I going to need hormone replacement? And when is the pain that I am still having going to subside? I don't feel like I can move or do anything...... any help would be great?....or ideas on what u did for relief?
