Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy and headaches

hysterectomy

Avatar f tn I had a hysterectomy 9 years ago (ovarian cancer but no chemo) and have since developed chronic migraines + headaches, allergy to cat hair that was treated with allergy shots over 2 years, and an exacerbated dust allergy that did not respond to shots. My migraines involve great sensitivity to odours and sounds. You are well within your rights to ask people around you (at work or school) not to wear perfumes because most of the new perfumes are chemical-based.
Avatar n tn He said it is just menopause and to exercise. I had a hysterectomy 10 years ago due to polps and have cysts on my ovaries now. What else if anything can I do to feel better?
Avatar f tn Even if you get by with few symptoms, medical studies show that estrogen deficiency caused by ovary removal has many adverse health effects, some silent and/or longer-term and others more apparent and immediate. You can find the studies in PubMed by searching for something like "bilateral oophorectomy long-term health.
Avatar n tn Hello, I have had menstrual migraines for over 30 years and as I get closer to menopause, things are getting worse. I had a hysterectomy last July and have been taking.25mg estradiol gel every night and when I first started taking it, it seemed like the headaches were not so bad. Now I am wondering if I should bump it up to .
Avatar f tn I had a partial hysterectomy 2 months ago. Having lot of headaches, back and legs. sweating at night, but not sure if this has anything to do with my surgery but a do no that I did not have any of this before so, I assume that is related. Do a need to take hormones? If I do, I'm looking information regarding natural hormones. Also have a cyst 4.2 (forms before hysterectomy) now, if this cyst grow what are the chances of having surgery again? Hopping everybody is OK. Thanks for everything.

Avatar f tn She has never been given HRT, and her GP has two conflicting letters from the hospital that performed the Hysterectomy, one states she had a total and the other states a partial, she has not had a period since but only recently has found out about the 2 different letters, what can we do to get a diagnosis for her inabilities as well as finding out which of the letters are correct and if she should have been on any medication, I only ask as some of the illnesses/ diagnosis are age related but sh
Avatar f tn I had a partial hysterectomy (I still have my ovaries) 4 years ago. I have had headaches/migraines my whole life . Recently they have gotten worse. I have been diagnosed with sinusitis many, many times, I never really felt like that was the real answer. Lately my migraines are so terrible I am unable to even get out of bed without vommitting. I also developed brown spots on my face a year ago . I am concerned and really don't know where to start can you help me?
Avatar f tn Just days before the hysterectomy I was told I had a nodule on my left ovary. The dr went ahead and did the hysterectomy and took my fallopian tube. After she ordered an ultrasound and I was told the nodule was gone. When dealing with my gastro dr I was complaining about the same pain I’ve had for over a year now in the flank area wondering if he could help or find something because no one seems interested and they make me feel like I’m making it up.
Avatar f tn Hi MPANDE. I am 39 and will be 40 in June and just had a radical hysterectomy in January to treat cervical cancer. When I went into surgery my ovaries were producing a little too much estrogen to be exact so I had yet to experience even the first sign of menopause. Well because my body was used to having so much hormone when they took everything it essentially threw my body into shock. Or so they say. It's just funny you said you get headaches because that was my very first symptom.
8012558 tn?1399308657 I did ultrasounds to eliminate anything else that could go on down there and nothing was found. Also MRI for headaches and everything was normal. I did CAT scans, lot of lab testing, and nothing. Few months ago I start reading about essure and stories of the women that had this procedure done. It was like they were describing me and my pain. The light bulb went on and I realized that all these problems started shortly after I had this procedure done.
Avatar f tn She ended up having the surgery and it went well. This was done two moths after the hysterectomy. Anyways, so after that she started developing depression causing to always feel like she couldn't breathe, lost in appetite. Weeks after the depression slowly went away, but she started developing abdominal/stomach pains when ever she ate. She's barely eating now, cause her pains are always bothering her. She describes it as "my stomach is really tense.
Avatar f tn Also hormonal imbalance may trigger early complications like hot flashes, fatigue, insomnia, weight gain, urinary incontinence, joint pain, hair loss, loss of sexual desire and painful sexual intercourse, vaginal dryness, headaches and palpitations. Hysterectomy is often referred to as surgical menopause, as the person may experience menopause symptoms at an earlier stage.
Avatar n tn I am a 44 year old female and I have been having symptoms on and off for 3 years. Some come and go. They all seemed to increase this January and I went to my PCP. These symptoms are fatigue, intermittent bouts of vertigo, intermittent sinus headaches or headaches when I am hungry, frequent dropping things, weight gain, inability to concentrate when really fatigued, intermittent tingling in hand, constipation, and what I describe as no temperature regulation.
Avatar n tn Yes it is normal for them to do that. I am 22 and am not where near menopause or hysterectomy, but my gyno put me on Lurpron for 6 months after long suffering from pain from my endometriosis. It will put you into a false menopause, but once you discontinue the injections the menopause symptoms will disappear after awhile. I will warn you, the shots were miserable for me because of the side effects such as nausea, headaches, fatigue, depression, loss of appetite, etc.
Avatar f tn Besides of having the MRI's or CT scan is there nothing else that can be done to help me with the headaches and my vision. I am not able to see a dr right now due to no insurance so I don't know when I will be able to see one and all i'm taking right now is pain reliever and it don't help. I tried a caffiene pill that my dr that done my hysterectomy gave me and it didn't really help either. I have been just living with the migraines.
Avatar f tn I have a list of symptoms as long as my arm, the main ones being really bad fatigue, vaginal dryness/itching, aching joints, mood swings, sudden tears, hot sweats, headaches, and no energy to name a few - I feel like i´m going mad. I did not really have any symptoms after my operation but as the years have gone on there is definately something happening and it´not nice. Any advice would be appreciated.
810462 tn?1252286160 Presently my hemoglobin has been good but I have an increased RBC count and RDW and then my MCH, MCV, MCHV, iron and folate levels still continue to be low. But when I called about my blood results I was told everything was normal. This is why I always ask for a copy of my blood test. So I guess I was just wondering if you can be considered iron deficient anemic if your iron and folate are super low but your Hemoglobin is normal????????
Avatar f tn I get a dull headache now and then if I forget to change my patch. For me the bad headaches were related to menopause... of course, you will check out this pain with the doctors... but do the research on the hormonal front and see what you think. The reason I like Vliet's book so much, for one thing, is that she gives ideas of doses... she backs up her work with research data and thorough explanations. Again, good luck.
Avatar f tn Valium is not working and I am drained and depressed by these headaches. I have never felt this much pain..labor was easier than dealing with these headaches.
Avatar n tn I am about to turn 51,I had a full hysterectomy about 18 yrs ago and I'm going through something, just not sure what it is.I have never taken hormones.I'm having night sweats really bad, crazy weird nightmares causing bad headaches but I have a drama free, stress free life.I normally don't dream.I'm just feeling very strange.Someone please help if you think this might be what it is.
Avatar f tn I suffer constantly with low grade fevers, lower back pain, pelvic pain, lower abdominal pain, headaches, extreme fatigue, and from time to time I'll also have pain/burning in my upper thighs. I've tried some birth control pills tho I can't currently remember the name brand. They didn't help at all.
Avatar f tn I was put on Lamictal for trigeminal neuraligia and migraines and the lamictal ended up making the headaches worse, plus gave me vertigo. Also, with your major weight loss, any structural cause? cervical spine maybe? If your pain is behind the eye, eyebrow, over ear or in similar areas, look at occipital neuralgia. It is caused from problems in c2. this can cause extreem headaches as well. Check your estrogen levels, when low can cause weird symptoms in some individuals.
Avatar f tn I had my hysterectomy on August 22 of 2006, I was 36 years old, started having thyroid pains within eighteen months of surgery. Cysts in both breasts within 3 months of my hysterectomy and again a year later. Cysts on ovary, now I've been diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer (papillary) at 38. Could there be a connection between the Hysterectomy and Thyroid Cancer? No major problems before hysterectomy.
Avatar f tn and it is a lot of swelling and inflammation that occurs with that and with swelling comes tighter space for blood and CSF to flow which with Chiari is tight already..... Deff talk with your OBGYN and NS to see the best way to deal with this.....not knowing your age....there are things I wish I knew when I was younger as I went into early onset menopause....I also have Hashimoto's thyroiditis and that can affect hormones and in effect affect headaches too.
Avatar n tn I am 35, and am considering hysterectomy for AUB. As far as I know there is no reason to remove my ovaries and since I probably have 15 years until menopause I can use the hormones. I was wondering if because of still having the ovaries which leads to the menstrual cycle does one still experience PMS? By PMS I mean the moodiness, bloating, constipation etc?
Avatar n tn I had a hysterectomy ten years ago. Prior to the surgery, I suffered with migraines and they were significantly reduced with the use of estrogen. Since stopping the estrogen, I have been getting severe frequent migraines. Should I go back on estrogen?
Avatar f tn The insurance would pay for this type of termination of pregnancy. It is considered medically necessary for her to have her hysterectomy. Why can't she just call the GYN and talk to the nurse and see what kind of an issue/problem this presents for the hysterectomy? They usually don't charge to talk to you on the phone. Plus since it's her choice to terminate the pregnancy. I'd ask about just going on with the hysterectomy.
1087834 tn?1256647396 Please dont just have a hysterectomy,go on the hysterectomy site and see the alternatves.I had a hysterectomy and have since found out, there was other treatment available, please check it out.My doctor total me there was no treatment for fibroids but there is,if i had known this I would have never had my hysterectomy, take care.
