Hysterectomy and estrogen dominance

Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy and estrogen dominance

hysterectomy

Avatar f tn I had my thyroid checked by my doctor in May and they came back with a tsh level of .056 and a t4 level of 4.1. My doctor then had me do an uptake and scan and said it came back normal and no longer thought my thyroid was an issue. Now my doctor thinks I am estrogen dominant but my thyroid levels are still out of whack. does any of this makes sense. is it related to my partial hysterectomy ? why if my levels are hyper thyroid can I not lose weight ?!?
Avatar f tn After hysterectomy, you may have estrogen dominance even with low estogen levels due to a lack of progesterone. Maybe you should talk to your ob/gyn.
1074733 tn?1256231619 My blood and saliva panel came back showing a very high level of estrogen, even though I have no uterus and only 1 ovary. They call this estrogen dominance. They prescribed estrogen cream which was compounded by a pharmacist. Over the past 10 years I have had numerous doctors tell me they thought I should be on HRT for symptoms I was having, and just because of the hysterectomy.
Avatar f tn I did a hormonal imbalance test and it turns out my estrogen level is at 203. The doctor told me to eat healthy, no carbs and no sugar. They also say irregular period is due to stress. I did my research stress leads to high estrogen. So I am guessing that is what causing it to be high. But I also read eating foods with lots of vitamins (ex. Selenium. Melatonin, vitamin b, magnesium, etc.) helps reduce it. But all this time I've been on a diet and I have been eating all of that.
Avatar f tn t, appears you have many clear signs of estrogen dominance. I believe estrogen to progesterone should be 2:1 (according to more naturopath MDs) and that is what I strive for, but definitely get many of the symptoms you list above when my estrogen gets too high. Saw 3 traditional OBGYNs + 2 internists who were of no help to me and their primary solution was BCP then finally got relief from a preventative medicine MD.
Avatar f tn I am now on estrogen replacement, bioidentical estrogen and Im sooooo much better. It takes alittle while to tweak the dose but it is so much better. Fat cells do produce estrogen, but it is not the most effective estrogen so I would say you need some replacement. I hope this helps. We have all been through this.
1676653 tn?1391039945 There are things you can do to lower your estrogen levels (estrogen dominance is one of the causes of fibroids) in your diet, etc, to help to minimize the growth and effect of the fibroids. Before I got pregnant I was taking vitex (chasteberry) to increase progesterone and minimize estrogen -- after about 3 months my menstrual cramps, which before that were dibilitating!, disappeared. If you want to talk fibroids more feel free to send me a message.
Avatar f tn Anyway I have been doing alot of research and stumbled across a condition called Estrogen Dominance which can be caused by the Birth Control Pill and how Estrogen Dominance can affect the thyroid. http://outsmartdisease.com/how-estrogen-dominance-can-ruin-your-thyroid-health/ I was wondering what peoples thoughts are on this? and if anyone has gone through the same thing.
Avatar m tn t it counter the extra oestrogen in my body automatically and remove the effects of oestrogen dominance? Why would I continue to suffer the symptoms of oestrogen dominance? 2 - If I was to take some form of Progesterone (the method is not important for this question), and my progesterone levels are restored, why would my progesterone levels stay restored after I stop taking the progesterone supplement (cream or otherwise)?
Avatar f tn Causes of estrogen dominance include birth control pills, estrogen replacement therapy, stress, poor diet, obesity, xenoestrogens (excess estrogens found in anything from pesticides to plastics). Estrogen dominance can affect conversion of T4 to T3 as well as increase thyroxine binding globulin (if there is too much thyroid binding globulin, thyroid hormone is bound and unable to get into the cells).
Avatar f tn Sue, I haven't been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, but am quite certain I suffer from it. I have been diagnosed with Hashimotos auto-immune diseasewhich is attacking my thryoid. I will venture to say YES that hormonal supplements DO affect the very interconnected endocrine system. Our bodies are a whole system, not a bunch of non-related parts. I was given a prescription for Levoxyl the first month I took medication. For me, it was an AWFUL experience!
Avatar m tn I see a lot out there that the estrogen and progestin pill significantly improves endometriosis and prevents it from continuing to grow. I also see a lot out there that says estrogen dominance contributes to Endo. So which is it? Does estrogen make it worse or better? Trying to figure out if I should avoid putting extra estrogen in my body if that will make things worse.
Avatar f tn As I've mentioned in my previous post, I have the strong feeling that I have a hormone imbalance. For 3 years, I've been overemotional/irritable/nervous, have had light/skipped periods, persistent acne,(I'm 20 and I don't feel like this should be happening), and hot flashes. These problems have gotten progressively worse over the years. The problem is though, that I feel like I have the symptoms of both estrogen dominance and estrogen deficiency.
Avatar n tn I have estrogen dominance as well, and my doc told me that an effect of estrogen dominance is hypothyroidism (or at least symptoms of hypothyroidism). When my levothyroxine made no change, I decided to quit taking it as I started taking progesterone. Now I have almost no hypothyroid issues anymore.
Avatar f tn All of what you are talking about is from Estrogen Dominance...too much estrogen girls....we need progesterone to counteract it and not sythetic progestin....PROGESTERONE! Sincerely, Christina Dx with adenomyosis, endometrial polyps...etc...
Avatar f tn i was also thinking of trying some lugols iodine to see if that helps since she has FBD as well and fibroids..would estrogen dominance have anything to do with her higher levels?
1002364 tn?1250107254 If you have had an US to show and blood work to show you are ovulating it is usually not an issue of estrogen dominance though. Your BBT will show if it is a problem though and if you are Oing or not. Hope this helps!
Avatar n tn Does anyone happen to know if there has been a connection with too much estrogen causing more neuropathy pain?? Anyone experience the onset of neuropathy after a hysterectomy? I would appreciate any info.
Avatar f tn I hope you can help, l am going throught he menopuase and my dr this week increesed my hrt patches estrogen only.
Avatar f tn I have had quite a number of auto-immune issues and have heard that estrogen dominance (search on the web, very interesting) could be a cause of those and the swelling (and many estrogen related gynological issues) and there are things we can eliminate from our lives/diets and take supplements that may help. If you are on HRT and it is only estrogen that could be causing the problem.
Avatar f tn You can also use a good, over the counter cream, I am talking about Progesterone by the way, it will help to alleviate the estrogen dominance and get those hormones back in balance. Hardly anyone needs extra estrogen, our bodies still make it even after menopause, just not as much, the progesterone will use what your body makes and help balance it out, there is no cancer risk with natural hormones either, with synthetic, that is a different story.
Avatar f tn I also produce too much estrogen. My body regulated on its own. How were you diagnosed and what symptoms are you having?
Avatar f tn I just remembered how my hair fell out a lot after my first child was born, before I was hypoT. Maybe ANY hormonal imbalance contributes to hair loss? We all know how a limping thyroid throws the entire hormonal (aka endocrine) system out of balance. Perhaps once our thyroid is balanced, we still have to contend with getting all our other hormones balanced. Maybe having our thyroid back up and running isn't enough to repair and balance the rest of our system that got out-of-whack.
Avatar f tn I suspect you have Ovarian-Adrenal-Thyroid (OAT) Axis imbalance, with estrogen dominance (which could be blamed for your cervical cancer and hysterectomy). You may also have multiple mineral and nutritional deficiencies, stemming from gut dysbiosis. A food elimination diet would be in order. Following a BRAT for a few (bananas, rice, apple sauce, toast) usually helps with diarrhea, but take some coconut water (not the one with added sugar) to keep you hydrated and mineralized.
Avatar n tn It can range from benign growths to hyperplasia (overgrowth of endometrial tissues due to a bit of estrogen dominance or low progesterone levels) to atrophic vaginal tissues that can cause bright red bleeding (thinning of the vaginal walls) and may require hormonal vaginal creams. Of course, when this happens, it needs to be checked out thoroughly to rule things out but, by and large, the majority are not cancerous.
