1085545 tn?1284042254 I am also a vegetarian and found I had to make some drastic changes in my diet, but I am now able to eat a variety of foods and enjoy cooking again. What you need to reduce is your intake of carbs. If you are used to eating a large amount of rice (for me the problem was pasta) you will have to change that.
Avatar f tn t like meat, but your body can even have a hard time with that so to be vegan which is very respectable can be so hard on your body. It sounds like you are missing something from your diet definately, Hypoglycemia and all you have mentioned is a very good possibility. Do you eat small meals frequently? Enough water? Can you at least visit a natural path once to discuss these issues? You may need B12 shots or something. Sounds like you might be digesting too fast as well.
1051017 tn?1349636853 i am a vegetarian and im wondering if anyone out there can give me some good recipe ideas for when i do eventually get pregnant? im not vegan but i do struggle to eat well. any ideas?
Avatar n tn About two years ago I became a vegetarian but have only recently starting having problems. In addition, I am tired all the time, have bad headaches, and when I work out I have shortness of breath. My doctor thought I had exercise induced asthma and prescribed an inhaler, but it doesn't seem to help. And now I am having stomach pains. Since I have no health insurance I can't go in to a doctor and have a lot of tests run and not get a diagnosis.
Avatar n tn Very classy for her to call it a vegetarian diet. Actually it is a junk food diet. Who ever heard of a vegetarian diet that omitted fruit and vegetables! What you have is a very lazy sister. And she is going to have one unhealthy child.
915369 tn?1355314810 Hey everyone! I was diagnosed with Crohn's about a year ago, and have since then been on a few medications and have settled on Imuran. Now, I have no complaints about my doctor, he's actually fairly good at what he does and he goes out of his way to help me and all his other patients but I find he doesn't have the time to really go in depth with my questions.
1662361 tn?1302762372 I am 23, I know I am over weight, I diet and exercise but never loss weight. I have been test for diabetes since I was 12, and my levels have always been low. I have noticed lately tho when I test because my mom and grandma are diabetic that my sugar levels are from 50 to maybe 75 no matter what I eat. I snack on granola and some times hard candy and sometimes cookies. I just feel sick all the time, and dizzy and i get really shaky and, Nothing I have been doing is working.
Avatar f tn Vitamin B12 needs to be supplemented because that does come from any of the foods you eat in the vegetarian diet. Look at www.vrg.org for more information on vegetarian eating. Hope this helped you.
Avatar f tn Actually vitamin D deficiency occurs due to inadequate exposure to sunlight or because of a strict vegetarian diet. Excessive use of sunscreen, kidney problems, having IBS, Crohn’s or celiac disease could be the other risk factors for vitamin D deficiency. So, probably you should think in terms of a liver or kidney affliction. Please consult your doctor regarding this. Take care!
599170 tn?1300973893 Oh, hi Cherie, and WELCOME! I admire anyone who embarks on a healthier eating regimen. Unfortunately, I know nothing about a vegetarian diet and wouldn't want to pretend to know! You can believe someone will. Hang tight, you came to the right place. Congratulations on your success so far, and you've done it with challenges - so good for you! Keep reading posts; keep responding to posts. Keep comin' back for more! So glad to have you!
Avatar f tn Some nutrients, such as methionine and B12, are very difficult to get in a vegetarian diet or a vegetarian vitamin since they're largely found in animal food, but it's easier to do in a vitamin than just by vegetarian diet, but since you're not a vegetarian you probably don't have that problem. I think taking a multivitamin is a good idea, because it's always been very difficult to get everything we optimally need in our diet, but mega-dose vitamins should be avoided.
Avatar f tn I'm 6 weeks pregnant and I've been vegetarian for the last 17years. Any more vegetarian pregnancies out there?
Avatar f tn Want to transition to a vegetarian diet! I am a type1 diabetic for 36yrs and this disease degenerates. What supplementation should I embark to maintain a balance nutritious way to eat?
526889 tn?1212540641 For your age you need 1500 calories daily to safely lose weight. I would recommend a Heart Healthy diet which is a moderate fat diet. Moderate fat diet means = use polyunsaturated (omega 3, corn oil, nuts, etc) fats and monounsaturated (olive oil, canola oil, peanut oil, etc) fats, no saturated fats (high fat snack foods, butter, fat spreads) and no trans fats.
Avatar f tn Im a vegetarian but since being pregnant ive been really fussy! :| i believe thats why i got anemia during my pregnancy. I find it so hard to find stuff i like! Id never eat meat though!
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with type II diabetes, and my physician at the time immediately put me on actoplusmet (no discussion of diet and excersise control first). I told him that I previously had gestational diabetes that once on diet alone caused my blood sugar levels to drop so low that the meter read in the 40's and sometimes just LOW. The nutritionsts then changed my diet so that it was double portion sizes and everything read perfectly.
Avatar n tn If you are a vegetarian for animal-cruelty reasons, add eggs and cheese to your diet. I was a vegetarian for a long time but I ate fish and poultry when I was pregnant.
Avatar f tn Most of the same rules for dieting apply. You just need to ensure you are eating a balanced diet and that you are getting the right nutrients. If you go to the Healthy Cooking Forum you will find lots of good recipes - many of them vegetarian and on the health pages there is some information about dealing with cravings and issues around vegetarianism and how to lighten up your cooking. Do ensure you are getting sufficient protein through beans and dairy.
