Hypoglycemia symptoms of hyperglycemia

Common Questions and Answers about Hypoglycemia symptoms of hyperglycemia

hypoglycemia

Avatar f tn Weight has nothing to do with, if your diabetic or not. As for you Hgb(iron count), 20 is way too high. Normal range of Hgb for women: 13-16mg/dl. I don´t know what type of physician your seeing, but you do have some diabetic symptoms and this "physician" is not capable of observing symptoms nor does he have medical criteria. Recomendation: Buy a personal blood glucose unit and monitor your results.
Avatar n tn You may not know that a dry mouth which can feel like thirst is one of the symptoms of hypoglycemia as well as diabetes. And logic tells us that if your mouth is dry and you are drinking lots of fluids, you will urinate often. I am a tightly-controlled type 1 diabetic, and the dry mouth feeling that I get when my glucose is low is almost identical to the sensation of having high blood sugar.
Avatar f tn d get very warm (I have panic disorder aswell so some of these symptoms could be associated with that) As soon as I eat, 10 mins or so the shaking stops. Not all the time I can get up and go eat at work. But in the past 4 months it's happened three more times. I was just wondering if this could be hypoglycemia?
1770925 tn?1365618522 There is much info on diabetics with hyperglycemia but very little on one that have hyperglycemia. I have a low sugar problem, that go to hypoglycemic symptoms, and doctors that only treat high sugar oroblems. Where can I find info on treatment of my type diabetic?
Avatar m tn How could you say he had hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia without knowing what the blood sugars are. He did state that they were in normal range. Palpitations may not even be related to blood sugar.
Avatar n tn Yes, hypoglycemia can be an early warning sign of diabetes, or you might have something else going on. Talk to your doctor. Tell him what you are experiencing. Then make sure you get an A1C test, not just a fasting blood sugar test. The A1C tests all your glucose for the last couple months, not just one moment.
Avatar n tn Hello. Your symptoms are a bit different from those of Alzheimer's disease. It seems that you may be having episodes of low blood pressure or hypoglycemia. During such episodes, the brain receives less blood, oxygen and glucose, leading to symptoms experienced by you. You can consult a family physician; get a full system check up, routine blood work, blood pressure monitoring and blood sugar levels. Do not worry too much about Alzheimer's disease.
Avatar n tn I am a Type II diabetic and what you have described sounds like hypoglycemia vs. hyperglycemia (diabetes). I have experienced hypoglycemia on several occasions and my symptoms were quite similar to yours. See your doc right away.
Avatar f tn Last week I was diagnosed with insulin resistent Hypoglycemia. I am not obese....although I am overweight by about 25 lbs. I am 36 year old female. My family does have late onset history ( my dad) but he was not diagnosed until late 50's. I do exercise although not everyday. I was put on Metformin to help regulate my Insulin and told to stay away from concentrated sweets. I guess I am a little concerned about this since I am fairly young.
Avatar m tn Have you heard of a link between use of Cydex disinfectant and risk of developing COPD? Thank you.
Avatar n tn You raise many important concerns that require answers of medical professionals who can see all aspects of your symptoms. Steroids can create abnormalities of metabolism (including high blood sugar), but without knowing all relevant information, that is not something I can determine. My suggestion is to find a doctor(s) you can put your faith and trust in and pose your questions to them. I wish you all the best.
Avatar f tn I was also prescribed Lexapro, Lamictal, and Welbutrin for dystymia and anxiety. I recently taperd off the Lexapro. I now have all the symptoms of hypoglycemia: tingling in lips (its constant, no break) and dizziness at just the slightest turn of the head, heart rate that is averaging 100 beats per minute (this has been constant not in little bursts for about three days now), and tightness in the chest/lung area, slight muscular type pain during deep breathing (also for about 5 days now).
Avatar m tn For a little over a week now I have had these symptoms: feeling tired all of a sudden even though I have slept for 8 hours or more. Constantly thirsty! Feeling faint but not fainting, sometimes everything goes black and takes a minute or so to come back to we're I can see, feeling week as well. It's starting to get really annoying!
Avatar f tn It seems as though Reactive Hypoglycemia exists in some people entirely separate from any diagnosis of diabetes. (but they check to make sure as hypoglycemia is a symptom often experienced by diabetics). The "insulin resistant" part (which is a characteristic as well of Type II diabetes) in people diagnosed with Reactive Hypoglycemia is related to the chemical process that causes the Hypoglycemia (an excess of insulin).
Avatar n tn and dizzy, nausea, sweaty feelings are common symptoms of hypoglycemia aspects of diabetes. The frequent urination and weight loss and others are common symptoms of hyperglycemia aspects of diabetes. Only a physician can determine, for sure, if you have diabetes, pre-diabetes, or something else altogether. If your current physician was only willing to test you for anemia (are you being treated for that?), then I recommend you choose another physician for a much more complete workup.
Avatar m tn As the above posters have noted, the shaking is a hallmark of hypoglycemia, and the provisional diagnosis is "rule out hypoglycemia". As Allmymarbles suggested the shakes are a warning, and a big one. This is correct. There are several possible etiologies. Fasting blood sugar testing is one means of evaluation, however there is another test, known as an insulin challange, that involves an IV line. Both are equally good, but the later test does not tie up the office for several hours.
5669694 tn?1372070410 It's not gastritis. I was misdiagnosed for gastritis because of unrelated back/rib pain last week. Turned out to be pulled muscle and muscle spasm. Saw a gastroenterologist and she sent me to physical therapy. I didn't have symptoms of gastritis just that pain. The dizziness and nausea feeling I get when I don't eat right away - I've had this since I was a little kid. I was tested for diabetes and everything the past month.
Avatar f tn That is what they did with me. If you are having other symptoms of MS, you may want to see a neurologist about this to rule out MS.
Avatar m tn I am wondering if I have had insulin resistance developing for a few years, but the constant stress of the problem caused cortisol to stop being produced as much, either because of exhaustion or as a protective mechanism against hyperglycemia and elevated insulin. If this is the case, is it possible that these hormone imbalances are "masking" more overt insulin resistance problems? If so, could insulin resistance be the key behind why my hormones are so imbalanced?
335297 tn?1210597884 Here is what the Pegasys Insert has to say under Warnings Endocrine Disorders Pegasys causes or aggravates hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism. Hyperglycemia, Hypoglycemia and diabeties mellitius have been observed to develop in patients treated with Pegasys. Patients with these conditions at baseline who cannot be effectively treated by medication should not begin Pegasys therapy.
Avatar n tn Type 1 diabetics do run into this kind of severe hypoglycemia occasionally, and it is our worst fear. If hypo for a long period of time (several hours) without any help, the body burns its own fat in order to provide the fuel that the brain needs; hence, the ketones. No long-term damage is done in most cases. I have certainly been in this situation before, and it is terrifying. I feel woozy for a few hours and then am just fine.
