Hypoglycemia symptoms of diabetes

Common Questions and Answers about Hypoglycemia symptoms of diabetes

hypoglycemia

Avatar n tn You may not know that a dry mouth which can feel like thirst is one of the symptoms of hypoglycemia as well as diabetes. And logic tells us that if your mouth is dry and you are drinking lots of fluids, you will urinate often. I am a tightly-controlled type 1 diabetic, and the dry mouth feeling that I get when my glucose is low is almost identical to the sensation of having high blood sugar.
Avatar n tn hypoglycemia is low blood sugar, and it is increasingly prevalent in our society. Hypoglycemia can cause an array of symptoms, including spaciness, fatigue, mood changes, PMS, sugar craving, headaches, difficulty focusing the eyes, tremors, temperamental outbursts, depression, excessive sweating, hot flashes, palpitations, cold extremities, abdominal pain, and panic attacks.
Avatar f tn These are vague symptoms for hypoglycemia. I would see an Endocrinologist and have some bloodwork done.
Avatar n tn Hello. I'm not a medical professional, just the parent of a kid with diabetes. Your son's symptoms sound more like hypoglycemia than diabetes. That is a condition where someone's blood sugars drop too low for whatever reason, and it's different from diabetes in both cause and treatment. I would request to your doctor to get a hypoglycemia check done. Good luck.
Avatar n tn Hello CanadianSweetheart17, First we are volunteers here and not medical professionals, so it's important that you explain your symptoms to your doctor and have tests done if s/he finds enough reason to follow up. Only a qualified medical professional can accurately diagnose you -- whether it's diabetes or 'something else.
Avatar f tn I would see your doctor about this very soon, as folks with hypoglycemia may develop diabetes later on. You may have pre-diabetes, and need to go on a diabetic diet. Meanwhile, make sure you have both protein and carbohydrates with all meals, and with all snacks, which you seem to be doing. You also might need to get a dietary consult and/or see an endocrinologist, for both are specially trained in working with people with blood sugar problems.
Avatar n tn A simple test can give you a definate answer. Shaking is sometimes a sign of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). This is different than diabetes. Diabetes is a disease that occurs when your pancreas doesn't produce enough insulin to offset the sugar you eat. Hypoglycemia is just the opposite. It occurs when your body puts out too much insulin. Your symptoms could be any number of things. Your doctor will be able to help you more than we can here.
Avatar n tn The previous posting seems to be indicating that your symptoms may also be of diabetes, but this is not really the case. Symptoms for diabetes do not include shaking hands or nausea, but are the following: thirst that is noticeable, weight loss although the person may be eating a lot, fatigue (also a symptom of low glucose), frequent urination because the person is consuming lots of liquids to quench the thirst.
1055725 tn?1265869375 m just going to speak to the symptoms you are experiencing and the possibility of hypoglycemia or diabetes. Hypoglycemia is one of the symptoms of diabetes and just means low blood sugar. Some people however, have a diagnosis of just hypoglycemia, without the diabetes. That is very different. Your symptoms might relate to either one, or they might not. Some other symptoms of diabetes are increased hunger and thirst. Some people however are diabetic without experiencing any symptoms at all.
Avatar n tn What are her chances of becoming diabetic? Her doctor said hypoglycemia sometimes precedes diabetes in children. Is is possible to "grow out of" hypoglycemia? If so, what are the chances of this happening?
Avatar f tn I was also prescribed Lexapro, Lamictal, and Welbutrin for dystymia and anxiety. I recently taperd off the Lexapro. I now have all the symptoms of hypoglycemia: tingling in lips (its constant, no break) and dizziness at just the slightest turn of the head, heart rate that is averaging 100 beats per minute (this has been constant not in little bursts for about three days now), and tightness in the chest/lung area, slight muscular type pain during deep breathing (also for about 5 days now).
Avatar n tn Here are some of the more common symptoms of diabetes Frequent urination Excessive thirst Unexplained weight loss Extreme hunger Sudden vision changes Tingling or numbness in hands or feet Feeling very tired much of the time Very dry skin Sores that is slow to heal Yeast infections Nausea, vomiting, or stomach pains may accompany some of these symptoms in the abrupt onset of insulin-dependent diabetes, now called type 1 diabetes.
Avatar n tn Truly normal blood sugars in people without diabetes, or risk of diabetes is about 83 +/- 10, regardless of what they eat.
Avatar m tn howeve,r now i have been diagnosed with diabetes tyoe ii. have i had this autonomic hypoglycemia all these years and if so is that a sign of diabetes type ii? i'm 65 years old now. thanks, bigdaddy601 This discussion is related to autonomic neuropathy.
Avatar n tn hyperglycemia (diabetes). I have experienced hypoglycemia on several occasions and my symptoms were quite similar to yours. See your doc right away.
1654177 tn?1319838494 I also urinate often and get fatigues (which may be normal, plus I drink a lot of water). I seem to keep my weight down too easily these days, I eat a lot, and I only mildly exercise (walking, hiking and pilates). Anyway, I told my doctor at Kaiser and she ran a random blood glucose test (non-fasting). My blood sugar was 68 ml/dl, the standard range is 70-140 ml/dl. She says to just eat less carbs and do more cardio exercise, and that this could be pre-diabetes.
Avatar f tn Eat more frequently?? Something is obviously wrong. It could possibly be hypoglycemia or diabetes. Weight loss is not necessarily a symptom, especially of Type 2 Diabetes. Random blood sugar tests are virtually meaningless. He needs to do an A1C which is a test of the average of your blood sugars for the last couple months. If it is not hypoglycemia or diabetes then you need a doctor who will help you figure out what else it might be.
Avatar n tn Even after operation he started giving symptoms of hypoglycemia.i.e. shivering, confusion etc. He was advised and treated for hypolycemia. However, today sometimes his sugar level increases upto 200-220 & sometimes hypoglycemia symptoms are seen. I am confused how should my father be treated - as diabetic or for hypoglycemia?
Avatar n tn Since he also gets temperature fluctuations, the first things to be ruled out are thyroid disorders, adrenal gland problems, anemia, diabetes, hypoglycemia, liver diseases, low Vit B12, and vasovagal attacks. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral. Take care!
Avatar n tn Yes, hypoglycemia can be an early warning sign of diabetes, or you might have something else going on. Talk to your doctor. Tell him what you are experiencing. Then make sure you get an A1C test, not just a fasting blood sugar test. The A1C tests all your glucose for the last couple months, not just one moment.
514704 tn?1228312637 is this symptoms of diabetes? diabetes runs in my moms family... all of her brothers and most of their kids have it. i need advice..
885280 tn?1289562555 Hypoglycemia can lead to diabetes if not watched. I was told by my doctor that we are going to have to watch me for diabetes as I am hypoglycemic. Because there is a history of diabetes in my family.
Avatar n tn You don't say if you have type 1 diabetes. How low does your blood sugar drop at how long after eating. Then how high does it spike? Are you on medication or insulin?
Avatar n tn It's absolutely something to be concerned about, but if your daughter doesn't show any more symptoms it likely isn't as big of concern. Just learn the symptoms and keep a watch out, and ensure that the hypoglycemia doesn't progress.
