1662361 tn?1302762372 I have been test for diabetes since I was 12, and my levels have always been low. I have noticed lately tho when I test because my mom and grandma are diabetic that my sugar levels are from 50 to maybe 75 no matter what I eat. I snack on granola and some times hard candy and sometimes cookies. I just feel sick all the time, and dizzy and i get really shaky and, Nothing I have been doing is working.
Avatar n tn In situations of pre-diabetes, we often hear that people have bouts of hypoglycemia. This happens when the glucose levels start to rise too much and the person's body over-compensates by producing too much insulin. Many hypoglycemic folks eventually do end up being diabetic after the pancreas wears itself out and is no longer able to lower those glucose levels. Most doctors recommend a diet fairly low in carbohydrates to avoid stimulating the already over-active pancreas.
Avatar n tn lately my blood sugar levels have been dropping low then spiking after i eat, which is making me vomit, is this hypoglycemia, or something different?
Avatar n tn Or if these drugs affect the endocrine system, for if your adrenalin levels have been lowered by these drugs, hypoglycemia could be an result (adrenalin tends to raise glucose levels, so lowering adrenalin and cortisol could cause glucose levels to drop). The endocrine system is amazingly complex, so affects on the body can be surprising at times.
2088051 tn?1334542007 So I Was Diagnosed With Hypoglycemia When I Was 15.. I'm 18 Now. It Seems Like It's Gotten Worse As I've Gotten Older. I'll Eat.. 6918915 tn?1395932871 I suddenly get very light headed, dizzy, anxious, hot, sweaty and STARVING. I think this is hypoglycemia but not totally sure and I'm going to ask my doctor on Monday at my appt. It happened here and there a few weeks ago but now it's been happening every day and its awful. I end up literally stuffing my face with anything I can find that has sugar because my body feels like that's my only instinct. Then after like 20 minutes of eating and putting my head down I feel better.
Avatar f tn I told him that I previously had gestational diabetes that once on diet alone caused my blood sugar levels to drop so low that the meter read in the 40's and sometimes just LOW. The nutritionsts then changed my diet so that it was double portion sizes and everything read perfectly. Due to this it was decided that I would take the medication only once per day instead of twice.
Avatar n tn In people without diabetes, hypoglycemia can result from the body producing too much insulin after a meal, causing blood sugar levels to drop. This is called reactive hypoglycemia. Reactive hypoglycemia can be an early sign of diabetes. https://www.diabetes.
Avatar n tn Is severe Hypoglycemia a sign of Diabetes? I have had a normal fasting blood tests. My hypoglycemia strikes with no warning many times throughout the day, even as soon as an hour after my meals. I have to carry glucose tablets and orange juice with me at all times. When it falls low I cannot function. The last really bad episode of this I could hardly breathe, complete mental confusion, weak all over, headache, heart palpitations, very scary to say the least.
649848 tn?1534633700 56 L Over the past 5 years, my fasting glucose levels have ranged from around 97 or 98 all the way up to 125, but never over 125. My A1c has ranged from 5.5 to 5.8 over the same period and my doctor has said I'm pre-diabetic. Insulin levels have only been measured a couple of times. The last time it was measured blood glucose was 125, with insulin at 8.1. Blood glucose was considered to be in pre-diabetic range, while insulin level was considered to be normal.
Avatar n tn They asked if there was a family history of diabetes. Of course I said yes. On both sides. They then took his surgar levels. It was 34. I then realized this was BAD. When we got to the hosp. they did nothing for him. Now I'm being told there is NO WAY POSSIBLE that hypoglycemia can cause a seizure. I need real advice from someone. They want to lable him as epiletic. Can someone give me advice!
Avatar f tn These are vague symptoms for hypoglycemia. I would see an Endocrinologist and have some bloodwork done.
1654177 tn?1319838494 The OGTT sees how well your body shed excess glucose. The A1c looks at your glucose levels over the past 2-3 months. Kaiser doc should have ordered these tests - email her and request labs. Numb Feet and Diabetes This could be associated with diabetic neuropathy which is damage to the nerves. When a nerve is pinched, per se, for a period of time and then is released it will "Wake up" and cause that shooting, tingling, cramping, numbness feeling. Poor circulation is another cause.
Avatar f tn If you eat high proportion of food in your meals from either (1) and/or (2), you will induce high levels of secretion of insulin into your blood, making them cycle up and then plummet low. Both (1) and (2) will cause your blood sugar to cycle up and then down. In the (1) condition, the simple carbs will deliver a bolus of glucose right into your blood, creating a spike in blood sugar, and then your body will react by secreting insulin to bring it low.
Avatar f tn I have been recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, i guess about 2 months now. During the summer I continued to run cross country, and after about 2 weeks I figured out how to keep my levels up enough for practice. Now that school has started my whole routine has changed. I've changed from practicing at 7 in the mornign to 3:45 in the afternoon, and first I couldn't practice, but then I got the hang of it and my levels were conrolled.
Avatar n tn 71 is normal but again I felt horrible, weak, shaky, anxiety, etc. Could this be something other than Hypoglycemia? Before I had lunch I ran 2.5 miles on the treatmill and felt fine so this is beginning to puzzle me. I had a stress test done and it was normal so I have no heart troubles, but I was also diagnosed with acid reflux. I've exercised all of my life, why would my blood sugars start dropping all of a sudden? Fasting it's always normal 85-92.........
Avatar n tn t matter what I eat, 4, 3, even sometimes just 2 hours later, my blood sugar has been falling to symptomatic levels, even if the prior meal is solid with proteins, carbs, etc. Plus, if that isn't enough, for the same amount of time, even when my blood sugar registers as normal (I do have a home meter), I am constantly feeling sickly... hard to explain, but I seem to have ..
Avatar n tn Are weight loss and drops in blood glucose levels side effects of tamoxifen? I had a lumpectomy for DCIS one year ago and have been on tamoxifen for 10 1/2 months. I started taking the tamoxifen in the evenings; however, I found that I wasn't sleeping well, so I began taking it in the mornings. I find that if I do not take it with my breakfast or immediately after, my blood gluclose levels drop sharply.
Avatar f tn Take the time to Google and learn about Hypoglycemia and also LADA [Latent Autoimmune Disease in Adults] which is a type of Hypoglycemia and often misdiagnosed as Hyperglycemia. Good luck.
Avatar n tn As for whether you need to see a doctor or not... hypoglycemia is dangerous if your blood sugar levels drop so low that you cannot function (think clearly or react quickly). In your situation, being deployed and in a dangerous location, you probably need to step back and evaluate whether you are impaired in your abilities to do your job when glucose levels are low and make your decision based on that.
