hypoglycemia

Avatar f tn In ICU after undergoing a procedure to insert a pump to help his heart. He has Congestive heart failure and this will bridge the gap until he can get a heart transplant. Anyone hear the facts on this?
Avatar n tn My son has been diagnosed with ketotic hypoglycemia. He too is very skinny. He also complains of palpitations and his heart rate goes to about 160-180 by holter monitor but the cardiologist said his echo was normal and the monitor although it showed a fast hr it was sinus rhythm. When he stands up his heart rate goes faster but he is not dehydrated, we keep him well hydrated and his labs don't show dehydration. (nor a fever). In my family we have many autoimmune diseases.
Avatar f tn deficient can have constant problems with hypoglycemia, especially if there is deficiency of TSH and ACTH also. My son had hypoglycemia many times before his surgery, in spite of thyroxine and hydrocortisone replacement. In fact, the insurance co. said they were denying coverage because my son had never done a G.H. stimulation test. The stim tests force hypoglycemia on the patient to see if the pituitary gland will respond - by releasing G.H. to correct the hypoglycemia.
Avatar f tn I would see your doctor about this very soon, as folks with hypoglycemia may develop diabetes later on. You may have pre-diabetes, and need to go on a diabetic diet. Meanwhile, make sure you have both protein and carbohydrates with all meals, and with all snacks, which you seem to be doing. You also might need to get a dietary consult and/or see an endocrinologist, for both are specially trained in working with people with blood sugar problems.
Avatar n tn This type of hypoglycemia does not lead to diabetes.
Avatar n tn Symptoms of hypoglycemia occur at different levels of blood glucose in different patients. In most healthy individuals, symptoms of hypoglycemia may not occur until the glucose level drops below 45 mg/dl. In elderly people, and in patients with chronically high glucose levels (such as patients with poorly controlled diabetes), the symptoms of hypoglycemia can occur at higher glucose levels.
Avatar n tn My son is 6 and he started showing symptoms of hypoglycemia 2yrs. ago. It started out with him getting very pale, shaky, and he would start vomitting. I bought a glucose meter to keep at home so I could check his sugar when the symptoms started to appear. He has had readings down to 40mg/dl. I can give him a coke or something sweet and within 15min. he will start to feel better and the symptoms will go away.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone else here was considered "high risk" for treatment (the "typical" treatment w/ pegasys (interfuron) and copegasys (ribaviron) and what their experience has been with both access to Doctors willing to try the therapy with them being "high risk" patients, and the therapy itself.
1835973 tn?1318617713 I very recently found out I am hypoglycemic & I have had Rheumatoid arthritis since 1991. I've tried various pills, drugs & intravenous Rheumatoid arthritis drugs through the years all after a while have hardly any effect or relief.
3054705 tn?1348415479 I posted earlier before then about having blood in my urine and having stabbing pain in my right side. My doctor said that I am either passing kidney stones or I have a bladder infection that is making its way into my kidneys. He sent me home with Tylenol w codine and an antibiotic. I took a nap and woke up due to excruciating pain. As I fell to the floor screaming in pain I threw up a ton and was rushed to l&d. Now I'm sitting here on an iv and having to stay overnight.
Avatar f tn I'm in the hospital with a serious infection that may or may not be in my blood as well as in abscess, depending on whom you ask and what time it is. I am beyond enraged, long story, and feel like a human ping-pong ball. As of now it's IV antibiotics thru tomorrow at least. What I think has happened is the mega Prednisone I have been given for the TN has done a number on my immune system and allowed infection to set in, so now I have 2 problems instead of 1. OMG.

Avatar n tn Hello, I hope you'll find this information useful... If you would like to know more this subject you could join the diabetes Forum. http://www.medhelp.org/forums/Diabetes---Adult-Type-II/show/46 While there is some degree of variability among people, most will usually develop symptoms suggestive of hypoglycemia when blood glucose levels are lowered to the mid 60's.
Avatar m tn If this injection is effective in bringing down blood sugar levels, why couldn't some type of use of this injection substance be useful in lowering blood sugar levels when they are running to high? This might be a stupid question, but I was just wondering. Thanks!

Avatar f tn Notable prolongation of the prothrombin time was always present initially and antedated other abnormalities of hepatic function. Three of seven patients in this group survived. Hypoglycemia was seen in both groups and in two subjects with acute hepatic insufficiency, glucose administration alone resulted in rapid lowering of lactate levels.” https://jamanetwork.

Avatar m tn I stopped the zolft on day 4 and ended up in the emergency room with chest flutters. My family has a history of hypertrophic cardio myopathy , and heart attacks. They did a blood test, and ecg, an echogram, and a chest xray and all came out normal. They put me on aspirin therapy, lipitor, and a beta blocker as a preventive care. I am extremely worried about the Pvc's. Are they life threatening, should I be asking them to do any more tests, and can this be cured? Thank you in Advance..
Avatar f tn The higher the score the less chance of survival, the higher the mortality rate. In interpreting the MELD Score in hospitalized patients, the 3 month mortality is: * 40 or more — 71.3% mortality * 30–39 — 52.6% mortality * 20–29 — 19.6% mortality * 10–19 — 6.0% mortality * <9 — 1.
1231791 tn?1289756226 t bother with the hospital stay because they are able to identify the high risk patients from their ECG and such patients are never prescribed the drug in the first place. I took Sotalol for a year with no dangerous arrhythmia resulting from it and was not hospitalized at the start.
Avatar f tn Take the time to Google and learn about Hypoglycemia and also LADA [Latent Autoimmune Disease in Adults] which is a type of Hypoglycemia and often misdiagnosed as Hyperglycemia. Good luck.
