Avatar m tn so we are getting ultrasounds done for her every 3 months. The latest u/s was in nov 2017. The right kidney volume is 16.44 ml and the left is 31.31 ml. In The august 2017 u/s the right kidney volume was 21.05 ml and left kidney volume was 25.40 ml. Does the volume of kidneys keep changing. What does the reduction in the volume suggest. Please help.
Avatar f tn My daughter (15 yrs old) has Stuve-Wiedemann Syndrome. She has managed well with her disorder including surgery to correct severe scoliosis (which was fused and roded) and a titanium rod used to straighten her left thigh bone. The one thing that effects her the most is a sweating issue. She sweats when she is cold and not when she is hot. A sweating episode can be brought on by drinking something cold and cold weather. Sweating is severe.
Avatar f tn There thinking he may have Beckwith Wiedemanm Syndrome cause of all the assist But not 100%
Avatar f tn A white rice or quinoa would be alright in small amounts and in moderation. (I know people will rail against white rice but whole grain or brown rice contain too much anti-nutrients and can cause leaky gut syndrome) Make sure to eat those starches with protein and fat to help reduce the spikes of glucose. Do not go low fat, your growing baby NEEDS saturated fat in order to build healthy neuro-processors. Just stay away from trans-fats (mostly found in processed foods).
Avatar n tn Recently my brother in law died, he was a Type 1 diabetic since about 14 years of age. His 3 sons and wife are devastated, as are we. We recently have heard about something called the "Dead in Bed Syndrome", which seems to occur with Type 1 diabetics in that they seem to lose the ability to recognize the sypmtoms of hypoglycemia. The night of his death, he ate a snack because his sugars were diving during the night.
Avatar f tn Sometimes babies of mothers with gestational diabetes develop low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) shortly after birth because their own insulin production is high. Severe episodes of hypoglycemia may provoke seizures in the baby. Prompt feedings and sometimes an intravenous glucose solution can return the baby's blood sugar level to normal. Jaundice.
Avatar n tn This type of hypoglycemia does not lead to diabetes.
Avatar f tn As it was a single episode, immediately you follow a strict schedule for everything. Breakfast in morning 8 to 9 am. Lunch in between 12 to 1 pm (3 Chapatis), 4 pm Tea and 3 to 4 biscuits. 8 pm have a dinner (3 Chapatis). Do not sleep immediately after dinner. At least go for brisk walking for 30 minutes in the morning (5:30 to 6:30 am) or in the evening (6pm to 7 pm.). Forget about episode and don't think more. Follow god life style. Leave smoking etc if any.
Avatar m tn You may be experincing hypoglycemia. If you take insulin you may be taking too much for the amount of food you are eating. As insulin helps the glucose get to the cells and tissue. If you are not taking insulin your body may be releasing a large amount of insulin in response to a meal high in carbohydrates. You need to find a balance as hypoglycemia can cause you to serious problems. I would talk to your dr.
Avatar n tn Restless leg syndrome? A lot of people have it. Does he have a history of seizures? If not, I would look at the restless leg syndrome.
Avatar m tn She is suspected to have Beckwith Weidmann Syndrome(BWS) and is under surveillance, ultrasound of abdomen and blood work every 3 months. People with BWS tend to be more prone to Cancers. My question is her serum calcium level is coming up 10.3 mg/dl which is high normal. (the cut off is 10.3mg/dl). The latest test was in Nov 17 and first test was in June of 2017. The value came up as 10.3 mg/dl both the times. Our pediatrician is not too worried about it.
Avatar n tn Have citrus juices, lemonade and foods marinated in vinegar. They help in washing away the metallic taste by producing more saliva. Brush your teeth and your tongue with a tongue cleaner at least twice in a day and surely at bedtime. It will help in lessening the metallic taste. Vit C tablets, over the counter oral mouthwashes will help fight the taste. Increase fibers in the diet.
Avatar n tn I posted a similiar question not long ago about tremors and trembling coz I get them a lot. I have thyroid problems, menopause, and sjogren's syndrome, but I'm not sure which causes the tremors. But I do no they are definately caused by these hormone disorders.
Avatar m tn I was also diagnosed in the US with hypoglycemia, because I would suddenly feel faint, but back in the UK that was ignored I was told to eat pasta. So I have been treating these pains as if it were an ulcer, eating little and often, no alcohol and relying on Tagamet and Gaviscon (liquid) only Paracetamol for pain as Aspirin, Nurofen, Codein, or any strong painkillers caused more pain...

Avatar n tn Can older people get mono? I recently tested positive to a monospot test. I am 55years old and never heard of anyone in my age group getting mono. Avatar n tn I often have palpitations and strange slightly faint/dizzy/agitated after eating carbs. My dr mentioned Dumping Syndrome, which is where the stomach contents empty into the small intestine too quickly causing a rapid release of insulin into the bloodstream. He also said it was usually common in top athletes(not me then), has this anything to do with diabetes and what can I do about this??
Avatar n tn Hello. I'm not a medical professional, just the parent of a kid with diabetes. As a fasting blood glucose result, 80 is on the low end of the ok range, but it is in the ok range. If your daughter will develop diabetes, or just hypoglycemia, there is nothing known that you can do to prevent it. You can keep your family, daughter included, more healthy through exercise and a better diet with more fruits and grains, for example, but that won't stop hypoglycemia in your daughter.
Avatar n tn Tremors are often associated with drugs, alcohol, smoking, lack of sleep, poor sleep patterns, stress and fatigue. They can be seen in peripheral neuropathies of diabetes, in hyperthyroidism, parasomnia, multiple sclerosis, TIAs or transient ischemic attacks or mini strokes, hypoglycemia, disorders of calcium metabolism, hyperparathyroidism etc. Certain epilepsies too could be the cause. Consult an internal medicine specialist or your PCP. Discuss these possibilities with your doctor.

Avatar m tn This is an Diabetes Adult Type II forum and we are discussing hypoglycemia in diabetic patients. Yes, there are very rare instances where it occurs in non-diabetic people. This forum does not address non-diabetic people nor should one create confusion to forum diabetic readers.
