Common Questions and Answers about Hypoglycemia effects

hypoglycemia

Avatar n tn 71 is normal but again I felt horrible, weak, shaky, anxiety, etc. Could this be something other than Hypoglycemia? Before I had lunch I ran 2.5 miles on the treatmill and felt fine so this is beginning to puzzle me.
1654177 tn?1319838494 m not sure if these symptoms could be side effects from the medications I was taking for hep C (Interfuron, ribivirnin and victrelis).
Avatar n tn While it may be nothing very serious, dyspnea or shortness of breath can be an allergic reaction affecting the respiratory system and can become fatal. This shortness of breath can also be due to hypoglycemia cause by Levaquin. Please call up your doctor urgently and do not take the next dose until you have spoken to the doctor and have been examined by him. Take care!
Avatar n tn Are weight loss and drops in blood glucose levels side effects of tamoxifen? I had a lumpectomy for DCIS one year ago and have been on tamoxifen for 10 1/2 months. I started taking the tamoxifen in the evenings; however, I found that I wasn't sleeping well, so I began taking it in the mornings. I find that if I do not take it with my breakfast or immediately after, my blood gluclose levels drop sharply.
Avatar f tn I was also prescribed Lexapro, Lamictal, and Welbutrin for dystymia and anxiety. I recently taperd off the Lexapro. I now have all the symptoms of hypoglycemia: tingling in lips (its constant, no break) and dizziness at just the slightest turn of the head, heart rate that is averaging 100 beats per minute (this has been constant not in little bursts for about three days now), and tightness in the chest/lung area, slight muscular type pain during deep breathing (also for about 5 days now).
Avatar n tn Dear melgonzales64, i am a diabetic like you and not a doctor or medical professional. Alcohal has many different effects on diabetics which is why the American Diabetes Association recomends diabetics only drink two drinks a day. If you take insulin for the alcohol it will just lower your blood sugar since alcohol doesn't need insulin for it to be digested.
Avatar f tn Confusion, abnormal behavior or both, such as the inability to complete routine tasks Visual disturbances, such as double vision and blurred vision Seizures, though uncommon Loss of consciousness, though uncommon Hypoglycemia may also cause these other signs and symptoms: Heart palpitations, Shakiness, Anxiety, Sweating, Hunger. Avatar m tn Excess insulin may cause hypoglycemia and hypokalemia, particularly after IV administration. Hypoglycemia may occur as a result of an excess of insulin relative to food intake. As with all medication, discuss in detail with your doctor the potential risks and advantages of the prescribe medication, including side effects. Talk with the pharmacist too.
Avatar n tn You don't say whether your little guy has ever been diagnosed as being type 1 diabetic, but your note seems to indicate that he is NOT diabetic, for I suspect that if he WAS, you would have probably not let him go to bed without eating enough. Parents of type 1 children have to watch this very carefully and usually have glucagon kits handy to revive their children if they drop too low during the night. You must have been terrified.
Avatar m tn It could be the effects of hypoglycemia which may cause the fluctuating/intermittent symptoms. Low thyroid function can cause hypoglycemia because: it slows the rate of glucose uptake, decreases rate of glucose absorption, slows response of insulin & slows the clearance of insulin from the blood circulation. Look into a low carb low glycemic diet and spread your your food intake over more frequent & smaller meals.
Avatar f tn I am almost 37 weeks gestation now, and have regular episodes of palpations and tachycardia daily. I do not get dizzy, or feel faint, nor do I get chest pain. I am concerned about the effects of the drug on the baby, as I have read it lowers resp rate, HR, BP & Sugars, as well as decreasing spontaneous respirations at birth in the baby. I have read the drug should be stopped 3-4 days pre labour (which I would like to know how we would know that date? as there is no elective birth planned).
Avatar f tn I'm 52 and was prescribed macrobid for a UTI. Shortly after taking it I started having really severe heart palpitations. I have had them off and on since I was 29 and have been told it's probably due to my hypoglycemia. I'm very sensitive to certain medications and I looked this one up and it says it should not be prescribed to older people who have a debilitating condition. I am extremely anemic and may have internal bleeding in my intestinal area. My dr.
Avatar n tn Any time you start messing with how the body processes energy as a diabetic, you risk hypoglycemia and other risks. I would suggest that you not do anything without first consulting your endocrinologist.
2130123 tn?1338125448 Hi :) I fingered my GF 9 days before her normal period but 12 days after fingering her period (the amount of blood is as usual ) came. I found on internet that if normal period come, there is no chance of getting pregnant. However, she said that she feel nausea in the morning when she wake up. I fingered her again weeks after the period and thought that's fine. But when my friend said that there is a chance if it's in the middle of the period.
Avatar f tn Is anyone else having hypoglycemia (which is low blood sugar abt an hr or 2 after meals)? I'm 26wks and been having it for around a week now.How do u usually deal with it when it strikes?
Avatar n tn Hi - I'm new here. I have pre-diabetes (about 2 years now) and have autoimmune degenerative neuropathy (CIDP for 26 years) unrelated to diabetes. I am not overweight, and am 32 years of age. My question is: does inflammation in the nervous system cause alterations in glucose metabolism? I'm currently having multiple daily bouts of hypoglycemia - my doctors can't/won't answer my question. I'm taking IVIG, Imuran and Ultram - no steroids or antidiabetics.
Avatar n tn (I think he was embarassed to call and say I was having leg cramps). I told him this was something more than just leg cramps. The hypoglycemia episode followed by SEVERE leg cramps and then nausea concerns me. I have hypoglycemia episodes once or twice a week but do try and control the with diet and excercise. Sometimes I really do not know why they come, yesterday was one of those instances. I have NEVER had any sort of cramps or nausea following an episode. Is this normal? Common?
2088051 tn?1334542007 So I Was Diagnosed With Hypoglycemia When I Was 15.. I'm 18 Now. It Seems Like It's Gotten Worse As I've Gotten Older. I'll Eat.. Then Not Even An Hour Later, I'll Start Shaking. This Stuff Is Horrible. I Just Need To Know If It's Because I'm Not Eating Enough Or It's Because Of The Food I Eat. Help!
Avatar f tn I have a follow up appointment with my doctor tomorrow question is is this something that I would have to take medication for regularly while pregnant. I already feel I'm taking too much medication now antibiotics for tooth infection plus tylenol #3 something for nausea prenatal vitamins and now this hypoglycemia. through all this I'm just praying that my baby is healthy.
Avatar f tn I would see your doctor about this very soon, as folks with hypoglycemia may develop diabetes later on. You may have pre-diabetes, and need to go on a diabetic diet. Meanwhile, make sure you have both protein and carbohydrates with all meals, and with all snacks, which you seem to be doing. You also might need to get a dietary consult and/or see an endocrinologist, for both are specially trained in working with people with blood sugar problems.
