I have noticed lately tho when I test because my mom and grandma are diabetic that my sugar levels are from 50 to maybe 75 no matter what I eat. I snack on granola and some times hard candy and sometimes cookies. I just feel sick all the time, and dizzy and i get really shaky and, Nothing I have been doing is working.
Avatar n tn I am a 41 year old female that has hypothyroidism and hypoglycemia and am trying to lose some weight, about 10 to 15 pounds. I take meds for my thyroid, watch what I eat and exercise 45 minutes to 1 1/2 hrs a day 5 times a week. I've tried following a low blood sugar diet and was able to lose about 4-5 lbs the first week, but for the next 5 weeks I lost nothing. This last week I went off the diet slightly and gained 2-3 lbs. back. Am I eating the wrong things?
Avatar f tn Could be insufficient rest or insufficient diet -- especially since you say you're losing weight. When you change your diet, the point is to eat better permanently so the weight stays off, but you have to get sufficient of the right type of nutrients to support your exercise. Many people "diet" which is to say go on some fad diet or severely restrict calories instead of eating healthier foods for a permanent change.
Avatar n tn My doctor thinks its nothing serious and my body is reacting to all the changes I have made to my diet and my weight loss etc. He says the symptoms are typical in people with insulin resistance and will go away with time. However, a specialist I saw seems to think it could be hyperinsulinism or reactive hypoglyecmia. I wonder if anyone has had a similar experience and could help me understand what I am going through.
Avatar n tn It's diet and exercise!!
Avatar f tn Diet aids such as Releana are not the best way to lose weight. While you might lose a considerable amount of weight on it, which might be nice, the chances of gaining it all back, once you go off the med are extremely high. I can't think of anyone I've ever known, who would stick to such a "diet" for any length of time.
1051236 tn?1253805722 t say what your sugar levels were that the doctor was responding to. Did he officially diagnose you as pre-diabetic? Diabetic? Yes, losing weight in addition to eating well and exercising can help control blood sugars in someone who is pre-diabetic. But in order to really know what is going on with you you need to test. I suggest buying a glucose meter and testing at least a couple times a week fasting and two hours after food.
Avatar f tn My ages 32 yo and 10 days ago my weight 74kg. I try my diet program call OCD (obsessive corbuzier diet) and now my weight 68kg and still doing the OCD. The main idea is we must keep away from calorie consume to our body for 16 hour a day. Within 16 hour only pure water and tea. Trust me it's work for me.

5147790 tn?1364304489 t that hypothyroidism, insulin resistance or PCOS, all of which can cause weight gain and/or make losing next to impossible. Good luck and keep posting.
Avatar m tn How were you treated for Graves Disease? Are you now hypo? Are you on thyroid replacement hormones? If so, which ones, what dosage and for how long have you been on it? It's possible that you need to increase your med dosage, if you aren't losing weight. Typically, when thyroid hormone levels are adequate weight will come off. If you have current labs you could post, that would be helpful for us.
1149046 tn?1264361586 For your height, you are just about perfect weight. Losing 20 pounds would put almost in the "underweight" category. I would not advise doing that. Here's part of a height/weight chart that applies to YOU.
1469595 tn?1298671180 Meanwhile you should start cutting your carb intake, getting regular exercise and if you need to losing weight. Yes, your blurry eyes are from high blood sugar. You are not in an immediate danger at 195 but prolonged time spent over 140 is what forms diabetic complications so you need to be treated with diet change, exercise, weight loss if needed and oral meds if needed to reduce your blood sugar.
Avatar f tn Losing 10 pounds in a month means losing 2.5 pounds per week. That translates to a calorie deficit of 1250 kcal per day. Assuming your BMR is 1800 kcal. Your daily intake allowance would be 550 kcal. A safe diet would be eating at least 1200 kcal. That means you should do 650 kcal of exercise. Exercising that much would be tough though.
Avatar f tn I would suggest making an appointment with your family doctor to discuss a realistic weight loss and a possible new food plan to achieve this new realistic goal. Losing 15 lbs in 2 weeks is not realistic and can put your health in jeopardy, big time. I wish you well.
