Hypoglycemia causes neurological manifestations outcome

Common Questions and Answers about Hypoglycemia causes neurological manifestations outcome

hypoglycemia

Avatar f tn The other neuroglycopenic manifestations of hypoglycemia may be abnormal mental state, anxiety, fatigue, confusion, paresthesiae etc. Other non organic causes of seizure may be a febrile convulsion due to very high body temperature. He needs to be evaluated thoroughly for a complete blood sugar profile, fasting, post prandial and an hbA1C to check his glycemic control over the last 3 months. The neurologist should reexamine him for systemic manifestations of diabetes to check. Take care.
1766088 tn?1385300594 If you get neurological manifestations of HSV do you need to take addtional medical precautions or is there concerns about my longterm health I should watch? I am concerned that the HSV will go to my brain or spread throughout my body.
Avatar n tn Lyme disease is a tick-borne illness caused by a spirochete called Borrelia. Lyme has multiple clinical manifestations and different phases. An early localized phase characterized by the skin lesions. An early disseminated phase with some more constitutional symptoms, and sometimes neurologic or cardiac manifestations. A late phase in which patients complain of arthritis and sometimes neurologic manifestations like neuropathy or encephalopathy.
Avatar n tn The causes of dizziness or giddiness can be many involving various systems like postural hypotension, cerebrovascular disease, and cardiac arrhythmias. Certain neurological conditions like benign intracranial hypertension, peripheral neuropathy, meniere’s disease, vestibular migraine etc. Various metabolic causes can also cause giddiness like hypoglycemia, hypothyroidism, anemia, panic attacks.
Avatar f tn I do have cervical lesion and thoracic , if I can trust the opinion of the Neuro doc who is old and spent last 50 years dealing with radiology images and neurological diseases . My MRI and some neurological examination consistent with MS as stated by MS specialist . I also have nystagmus , anisocoria , positive Romberg . All other tests typical in MS probability were conducted and all are clear and negative . There is not much more I could test .
Avatar n tn I understand several tests have been done. However I am again enumerating all the causes which should be looked into. You need to get your daughter examined to rule out a few things such as low blood pressure, postural hypotension, cervical spinal nerve compression, hypoglycemia, severe anemia, an underactive thyroid (called hypothyroidism), overactive thyroid (called hyperthyroidism), adrenal insufficiency (called Addison's disease), GERD, and internal ear infections.
Avatar m tn Quite clearly you need a neurological examination and both an MRI and an MRA. Both. Not one alone. Then an EEG. An x-ray or CAT screen are inappropriate. They are obsolete. Once structural abnormalities and damage are ruled out a neurological disease must be considered. Don't be embarrassed or depressed. None of this is your fault. Often there is a dysfunction of part of the brain that does not interfere with intelligence or reasoning ability.
1139187 tn?1355706647 Hi. Lots of things cause tinnitus. It's very common, almost always nothing to worry about. What was the onset? If gradual, and ringing is mild, might be anything: getting older, exposure to heavy sound wave pressure (acutely or chronically) are most common causes. I have it from years of listening to music in headphones - it doesn't take as much sound as some think to damage the little hairs. Guns, firecrackers, playing orchestral instruments, etc.
Avatar f tn many neurological manifestations can occur, but usually in the acute phase of infection. (IgG antibodies are usually an indicator of chronic infection or prior infection). The neurological manifestations include inflammation of your brain and its coverings (i.e., meningitis, encephalitis, cerebellitis), or spinal cord (i.e., transverse myelitis), or eye (i.e., optic neuritis), cranial neuropathy, or small fiber neuropathy. It does not seem your symptoms fit into these.
769013 tn?1234938239 It could be a neurological problem, but you need to have some blood tests done to rule out other causes. Adrenal caused hypoglycemia is not uncommon.
Avatar f tn Your welcome, sorry i don't really have any true ideas other than the types of things that your blood tests should of picked up ie vitamin deficiencies, peri menopause, menopause, a virus, an infection, pre diabetes, diabetes, hypoglycemia etc, other possible causes i'm aware of are lack of sleep, poor quality sleep like from sleep apnea, mental health, dehydration, poor fitness level, breathing issues like hyperventilating, emphysema, asthma etc but there's likely a lot of others i
Avatar m tn What you suffer from is probably narcolepsy, which is a neurological disorder. This is thought to be caused by low protein called hypocretin, which is made in the brain. The symptoms are an urge to sleep especially after meals. Sleep studies and EEG are done to rule out other causes of poor sleep and insomnia. Eating light and frequent meals during the day helps. Also assigning a nap time during the day often helps. You can take a light meal before this.
Avatar n tn I have never read that any blood or metabolic disorder causes brain lesions. Hypoglycemia is not a mimic of MS that has to be ruled out before an MS diagnosis can be made. Would you explain more about why you feel the two are related, or that one underlying illness could be causing both? Is this because of the timing, and you believe it is not a coincidence? I haven't heard that hypo is an autoimmune disorder.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with Hypoglycemia many years ago but never gave it much thought or consideration. When I felt sick or faintish after not eating for many hours I would just grab something quick and ignor the whole matter. I didn't think hypoglycemia was anything to worry about until lately. Over the last couple of months I've experiecened tingling and numbness in my hands, feet, lips and felt tingling sensations all over my body.
619345 tn?1310341421 I am doing a lot of research before tx and trying to at the same time prepare my body to tx I have read some how interferon works and for now it is the only means of reducing viral load and stopping progression of the disease wrecking havoc on our bodies but since the HCV virus can travel throughout the body (if this is true) must be as the Pancreas as I am IR is affected like in my case 45 years My brain is also affected and I have many neurological problems causing me Pain plus the GI pa
Avatar n tn t happening very, not to worry. But, I do worry and want to know what might it be? It appears neurological to me because it travels from one region to another, but, I'm no doctor. What could be causing this?
Avatar n tn The flashing lights are called scintillating scotomas and are most commonly cause by migraines. Other less common causes are hypoglycemia or anxiety induced catecholamine secretion, epilepsy and other neurological disorders. See your family Doctor for evaluation and if necessary for a referral to the proper specialist.
757137 tn?1347196453 I have long believed that most alcoholism was not a psychological problem, but a physical one related to hypoglycemia. Some years ago I had occasion to test my theory on a friend of mine who had become an alcoholic. She had all the signs of a hypoglycemic, the most notable being sugar cravings. (She was, by the way, very slender.) She told me she went on her biggest binges when she got out of rehab. I found out that in rehab they replace alcohol with lots of sugary foods.
Avatar m tn I agree with doublevision, it doesn't sound like MS or even of neurological causation to me either. My sensory sx (tingles, numbness etc) are in spots or areas on the left side of my body, they dont move around but over time (years) i've added more spots and more obvious neurologically caused issues.
1602576 tn?1297686082 I think you should discuss this with your daughter’s doctor and look for non neurological causes. Take care!
