Avatar n tn Are you seeing an Endocrinologist, a doctor who trained on the endocrine system which includes specializing on diabetes? Possible causes of postprandial hypoglycemia [low blood sugar] occur if the pancreas produces too much insulin, adrenal insufficiency, conditions effecting the pituitary or thyroid glands, kidney or liver failure. I'm unsure of the meanings " I am a Non Veg By Birth and My HB is 18.2". " what should i do to have a helathy Life.
Avatar m tn Extreme tiredness, high fever, hypoglycemia or low blood sugar, high blood sugar, kidney problems causing brain fog, liver problems causing brain fog, low electrolytes, very high blood pressure, alcohol or drug intoxication, etc can all cause slurred speech. Please do not ignore this and consult a doctor ASAP or maybe go to the ER. MRI of the brain, dental examination, nerve conduction studies, kidney and liver function tests etc will be required.
Avatar n tn There have been a few reports in Japan of a rare condition called insulin autoimmune syndrome in people using alpha lipoic acid.[citation needed][51] The condition causes hypoglycemia and antibodies directed against the body's own insulin without previous insulin therapy. The safety of alpha lipoic acid in pregnant or nursing women, children, or people with kidney or liver disease is unknown.
757137 tn?1347196453 I have long believed that most alcoholism was not a psychological problem, but a physical one related to hypoglycemia. Some years ago I had occasion to test my theory on a friend of mine who had become an alcoholic. She had all the signs of a hypoglycemic, the most notable being sugar cravings. (She was, by the way, very slender.) She told me she went on her biggest binges when she got out of rehab. I found out that in rehab they replace alcohol with lots of sugary foods.
Avatar n tn Addison’s disease is not the only cause of sudden hypoglycemia, though. Other causes that could have occurred in your dog’s case include Insulinoma (a tumor of the pancreas that produces excess insulin) and overwhelming infection (possibly secondary to the surgery, in your dog‘s case). There was a sign of possible infection in your dog: “SQ emphysema” in the integument at the suture site, this can be indicative of infection.
Avatar n tn The worst part is sometimes the headache gets very bad and I get sudden sharp pains in one side of my temples. This can happen several times over an hour or two. It is so bad it causes me to jump in shock and I cannot do anything while it is happening it is so intense. It is enough to make me cry sometimes and it makes me feel like something is terribly wrong. One time for about a month dizziness enough to make me fall over seemed to replace the sharp pains but not the whole headache.
Avatar n tn It was weird, it only lasted about 6 seconds but I had to really concentrate to speak. My family has a history of diabetes and hypoglycemia. Has anyone heard of low blood sugar causing slurred speech?
Avatar m tn i was tested for diabetes, and my results were 76 1st hr 81 then 43 3rd hr, they say i have hypoglycemia ? i didnt feel any symptoms when i left.......
1204020 tn?1493698890 If you have a high BP then causes of high BP should be found out. Hyperthyroidism, renal artery stenosis (by dopplar studies or MRI), abnormal kidney function (by kidney function tests), hyper function of adrenals, Cushing’s syndrome, abnormal liver function, etc would have to be ruled out. A high BP itself can cause dizziness and nausea. I think you should discuss these possibilities with your doctor. It is difficult to comment beyond this without examining.
1055725 tn?1265869375 m just going to speak to the symptoms you are experiencing and the possibility of hypoglycemia or diabetes. Hypoglycemia is one of the symptoms of diabetes and just means low blood sugar. Some people however, have a diagnosis of just hypoglycemia, without the diabetes. That is very different. Your symptoms might relate to either one, or they might not. Some other symptoms of diabetes are increased hunger and thirst. Some people however are diabetic without experiencing any symptoms at all.
Avatar n tn Initially my symptoms appeared to be urinary tract related with pain and discomfort on my left flank, lower back and left Kidney area as well as pelvic and lower abdominal pain and discomfort. After numerous scans(X-ray, CT scan with and w/o contrast, and ultrasound) and several lab tests to check for proper organ and metabolic function, the only finding was a simple cyst on my left Kidney and a calcification on my right Kidney.
3094000 tn?1341799387 You need to see a doctor to ensure other health factors are not causing your hypoglycemia; thyroid disorder disrupting pancreas insulin production, poor pancreas functionality, kidney and liver disease, etc. Also, drinking liquor before eating. A level of 55 mg/dl is not dangerously low but low enough to cause concern. Dipping lower could cause irreparable harm such as coma. Get an A1c test too to see how well you have managed your blood sugars.
Avatar n tn Another Medical Note, I am prone to kidney stones. At one time, I had more than 30 stones in my right kidney. I have been under the care of a Urologist for more than 2 yrs. Is it possible that my Hypoglycemia could be due to kidney trouble. Also, I have PCOS (Poly-cystic Ovarian Syndrome). I recently had surgery to remove endometreosis. Bottom Line, looks like I have quite a situation on my hands.
Avatar n tn So is this where your pain is located? If yes, then this is usually due to kidney stones or kidney infection or due to urinary infection or muscle pull or pinched nerves. Rarely is it due to colitis. The pain due to kidney stone can radiate back as well. An ultrasound of the abdomen followed by urine examination may help clinch the diagnosis.
Avatar f tn I was also prescribed Lexapro, Lamictal, and Welbutrin for dystymia and anxiety. I recently taperd off the Lexapro. I now have all the symptoms of hypoglycemia: tingling in lips (its constant, no break) and dizziness at just the slightest turn of the head, heart rate that is averaging 100 beats per minute (this has been constant not in little bursts for about three days now), and tightness in the chest/lung area, slight muscular type pain during deep breathing (also for about 5 days now).
Avatar f tn I have a follow up appointment with my doctor tomorrow question is is this something that I would have to take medication for regularly while pregnant. I already feel I'm taking too much medication now antibiotics for tooth infection plus tylenol #3 something for nausea prenatal vitamins and now this hypoglycemia. through all this I'm just praying that my baby is healthy.
1034736 tn?1319559035 Increased insulin levels can cause hypoglycemia. Excessive alcohol intake, hepatitis, kidney disease, certain medications, disorders of adrenal gland etc can all cause hypoglycemia. It can also be caused by poor eating patterns. Rarely is it caused by insulin secreting tumors called insulinomas. These can secrete huge amounts of insulin after food and a person can suffer from hypoglycemia despite eating. You need to consult an endocrine specialist.
Avatar n tn Hello you may have hypoglycemia-low blood sugar. Try eating some peanut butter crackers and juice or regular cola next time the symptoms start to see if it helps. If you can eat 6 small meals a day it will probably stop your symptoms all together.
Avatar m tn Then you also need to investigate other causes of brain fog like liver dysfunction (get liver enzymes done—liver function test), kidney dysfunction (get kidney function test done), and anemia. Thyroid problems, adrenal gland function and diabetes should be checked. I think you should discuss these possibilities with your doctor. It is difficult to comment beyond this without examining. A comprehensive investigation is required keeping all the points in mind.
Avatar n tn Hypoglycemia in children is a puzzling problem, for until the root cause of it is discovered (and sometimes it never IS discovered why it happens to certain children), you are stuck simply responding to it whenever it happens instead of fixing the root health problem that causes it. A pediatric endocrinologist should be able to do tests to rule out some causes and narrow down possible causes in order to have a better idea of what the problem actually is as she grows.
Avatar f tn Hello, Some of the common causes for such pain are Infection or inflammation of the organs present in the pelvis, pelvic adhesions, ovarian cysts, vaginal infections, bladder problems, irritable bowel syndrome, kidney causes, uterine fibroids and pelvic inflammatory diseases (PID) .Endometriosis can cause chronic pelvic pain. I suggest you to get it evaluated from a gynecologist and get an ultrasound done.
