hypoglycemia

Avatar n tn Eat some protein with foods that have carbs so as to slow down the digestion and absorption of those carbs, and avoid sugary caffeinated drinks, for caffeine can be a real problem for people who deal with hypoglycemia. Some people find that they can stave off hypoglycemia by eating small snacks often throughout the day rather than huge meals. --that was copied from an answer posted by another volunteer on 7/23/2007, who is very knowledgeable on the subject of hypoglycemia.
Avatar n tn 71 is normal but again I felt horrible, weak, shaky, anxiety, etc. Could this be something other than Hypoglycemia? Before I had lunch I ran 2.5 miles on the treatmill and felt fine so this is beginning to puzzle me. I had a stress test done and it was normal so I have no heart troubles, but I was also diagnosed with acid reflux. I've exercised all of my life, why would my blood sugars start dropping all of a sudden? Fasting it's always normal 85-92.........
Avatar n tn m being told there is NO WAY POSSIBLE that hypoglycemia can cause a seizure. I need real advice from someone. They want to lable him as epiletic. Can someone give me advice!
Avatar n tn Large amounts of caffeine in your diet can make this problem worse, for the caffeine speeds up production of insulin by the pancreas -- many hypoglcymic people are told to avoid foods or beverages with caffeine. Also, many typical sufferers of hypoglycemia find that they will have hypoglcyemic episodes after eating sugary foods.
Avatar f tn have you ever had an mri scan or talked to a doctor for anxiety
Avatar n tn Anxiety, low calcium levels, drinking caffeine and alcohol all can lead to shakiness and jitteriness. Palpitations or fluttering in chest can be due to digestive problems. Hypoglycemia can cause tremors and jittery feeling. Take good sleep and stay away from stress. Your doctor can test you further for health conditions that may cause your symptoms. Take care and regards!
Avatar n tn You may need a multifacted approach to resolve your RLS and leg cramps as they may not be from the same cause. Have you had a thorough medical workup lately? Magnesium and potassium come to mind, and iron studies could tell if that could be playing a role in your RLS. For the RLS, avoiding caffeine is usually recommended. It's also a good idea to evaluate any meds for having worsening of RLS as a known side effect.
Avatar n tn I experienced the normal caffeine crash and then later the next day, I decided to get a pizza. About an hour after eating the pizza, I checked my sugar to see if it was low (i got a meter to check for suspected hypoglycemia). The reading was 297. This was back in october. I checked frequently to make sure everything was ok. It peaked at 150 a few times but nothing more. Then a week ago, I had a peak reading of 207. Then it went back to normal.
Avatar n tn Recently, a friend of mine, who thought she had hypoglycemia for the past 10 years or so, stopped caffeine altogether and her shakiness disappeared. Just something to consider. If you need advice after having determined if diabetes is the cause, please post again. Good luck to you.
Avatar m tn It does sound like reactive hypoglycemia - and the treatment also requires cutting out caffeine as well as cutting out sweets. Did your doctor order a GTT? If you get a GTT, make sure you get a 6-hour GTT, not the 2-hour GTT used to diagnose diabetes. Do you ever check your blood pressure during these episodes? Some people have hypotension and actually need medication to keep their blood pressure up. You might want to get a BP kit.
Avatar n tn Is hypoglycemia the same as diabetes? What's the difference between type 1 and type2 diabetes? is it the age of the person that makes the difference between the two types?
Avatar n tn Sounds like hypoglycemia otherwise known as low blood sugar.I have it and so do several members of my family. Eating small frequent meals (every few hours) consisting of wholewheat carbs lean protein and some healthy fat-totaling 250-300 cals should keep your blood sugar steady and help you avoid the crash that gives you the shakes, dizzys and headaches.
Avatar m tn Non-cardiac may mean you have metabolic causes such as hyperthyroidism or hypoglycemia; drug-induced causes, structural abnormalities or even psychiatric or stress. For us to understand this, we must identify the underlying cause. Blood tests for glucose, electrolytes and thyroid function tests can be done to rule out other diseases.. An ECG may also be useful in evaluating cardiac problems. Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar n tn The causes of Restless leg syndrome are peripheral neuropathies, vitamin and minerals deficiencies, lumbosacral radiculopathy, spinal stenosis, excess caffeine intake, hypoglycemia, and hypothyroidism. He needs to undergo spinal radio imaging, blood sugar and thyroid status to rule out the cause. Pertaining to this I suggest him to consult a neurologist to rule out the cause and treatment accordingly. He may have to take vitamin B-complex supplementation.
Avatar n tn Other causes include the use of some drugs (such as amphetamines, caffeine, corticosteroids, and drugs used for certain psychiatric disorders), alcohol abuse or withdrawal, mercury poisoning, overactive thyroid or liver failure. Tremors can be an indication of hypoglycemia, along with palpitations, sweating and anxiety. Some forms of tremor are inherited and run in families, while others have no known cause.

1353650 tn?1429463374 My doctor checked my glucose and insulin and it showed high normal and that I had reactive hypoglycemia. So, she treated me for the thyroid inflammation, thinking that was causing the fibromyalgia and reactive hypoglycemia. A few months later we discovered what I had because I went off my strict diet of no sugar and my condition came back even more severe.
Avatar n tn Endocrine gland related conditions like hyperthyroidism, acromegaly and glucose control disorders (diabetes and hypoglycemia both) all result in increased sweating. Pheochromocytoma, cancers, carcinoid syndromes, tuberculosis and other infections too can cause increased sweating. It can also be due to low blood pressure. Get your thyroid and adrenal gland function tested. Wear loose clothes. Carry an astringent and a deodorant. Do not be over anxious about this as this will increase sweating.
Avatar m tn The causes for jerks can be peripheral neuropathies, vitamin and minerals deficiencies, excess caffeine intake, hypoglycemia, and hypothyroidism. He need to undergo blood sugar and thyroid status to rule out the cause. He may have to take vitamin B-complex supplementation. First important step for management is treat identifiable cause. Pharmacotherapy usually involves drug modulating GABAergic neurotransmission like Levetiracetam, Piracetam, Clonazepam or Valproic acid against prescription.

The other possibility is that you have a pelvic condition. Pelvic tremors or vibrations can be due to PID or pelvic inflammatory disease, compression of spinal nerves or due to pudendal neuralgia as an initiating symptom.
