Common Questions and Answers about Hypoglycemia books

hypoglycemia

Avatar m tn Absolutely! There are many books out there about low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), my favorite of which is Low Blood Sugar and You, by Carleton Fredericks. Hypoglycemia affects the workings of all our glands, our minds, our sleep rhythms, growth cycles, our very brains and thinking. SassieLassie, I had similar test reactions. So humiliating and embarrassing; very much like panic attacks. As far as your last sentence, though, I've had a couple of really nasty supervisors...
Avatar n tn Be careful to look for books on hypoglycemic diet and not just a low carb diet. The focus of weight loss books is not blood sugar control.
Avatar n tn Hello Lilliebelle, As you may know, we're volunteers here and not medical professionals so none of us can give you a custom treatment plan. Perhaps we'll provide some new ideas to consider with your endo. First a comment on your "sense" of your Endo. In general, we need to find medical professionals with whom we can discuss and work well. Whether you have ongoing hypoglycemia or eventually become diabetic, you need a *sustainable* life style.
Icecream The regimen may be aggressive, but not uncommon for a newly diagnosed patient. I do not know what your baseline lab values were (A1c, fasting blood sugars, etc..) But nearly all newly diagnosed patients start oral medications right away and some physicians are more aggressive than others because it is important to get diabetes under control as soon as possible to reduce risk of long term complications.
Avatar n tn Eat some protein with foods that have carbs so as to slow down the digestion and absorption of those carbs, and avoid sugary caffeinated drinks, for caffeine can be a real problem for people who deal with hypoglycemia. Some people find that they can stave off hypoglycemia by eating small snacks often throughout the day rather than huge meals. I do wish you the very best. And I wish you safety during your tour in Iraq.

Avatar f tn Im a first time mom wondering if there are any books out there that really helped you guys understand things that are going on?
Avatar f tn Or I do like cheesy romance books that seem overrated but are actually good. The only kind of books I don't like are things like fantasy, (I.e harry potter crap).

11305938 tn?1417998533 What books have you read on MS that you would recommend? I am a huge reader and when I got diagnosed I bought some books online.
1117137 tn?1345227905 What books are you reading/have read that you would recommend to the group, and why? My current favorite is 'Raising Baby Green' by Alan Greene, M.D. - It is an amazing resource that provides tips and information about providing your baby with the best environment inside the womb, and out that you possibly can. It doesn't preach at you, but rather gives insight and ideas to consider.. even if just one at a time. The best book of its kind that I have read.
790669 tn?1465189099 Anyone know of some really good infertility books? I'm really looking for some to read and plus if anyone knows of any that would be somewhat helpful to my husband. I know they really don't understand it all, but something he could make some sense of. I don't mind if there's a book for us both or seperate his/her books. Anyways, thanks!
Avatar f tn Up the duff by Kaz Cooke is a great lighthearted read, doesnt scare you with the 'what ifs' like many other books do. And you get a bit of a giggle out of it. Its one to go through week by week.
Avatar n tn What else could be causing this?
Avatar f tn Is anyone else having hypoglycemia (which is low blood sugar abt an hr or 2 after meals)? I'm 26wks and been having it for around a week now.How do u usually deal with it when it strikes?
Avatar n tn Hi - I'm new here. I have pre-diabetes (about 2 years now) and have autoimmune degenerative neuropathy (CIDP for 26 years) unrelated to diabetes. I am not overweight, and am 32 years of age. My question is: does inflammation in the nervous system cause alterations in glucose metabolism? I'm currently having multiple daily bouts of hypoglycemia - my doctors can't/won't answer my question. I'm taking IVIG, Imuran and Ultram - no steroids or antidiabetics.
Avatar n tn 71 is normal but again I felt horrible, weak, shaky, anxiety, etc. Could this be something other than Hypoglycemia? Before I had lunch I ran 2.5 miles on the treatmill and felt fine so this is beginning to puzzle me.
