Avatar n tn I am a 32 yr old Caucasian male. I am also about 110 pounds over weight, so I very seriously need to lose weight, obviously. But it is not that I don't have the willpower, it is that I am dealing with symptoms that make it very hard to eat properly. I will explain... In the past, I have had reactive hypoglycemic attacks, but just occasionally. Mainly during exercise. But, lately, I am having hypoglycemic attacks constantly every day...
Avatar n tn Blood sugar is our source of energy and by having too low of a blood sugar can certainly increase the chances of no weight loss and interfering with thyroid activity as well. My experience with thyroid medicines after changing to I don't know how many is that I didn't start to lose weight until I addressed my diabetes question. I am Type II which means for me I am hyperglycemic or producing too much sugar.
Avatar f tn Fast forward back to new Endo (female) she was shocked to see what I looked like before wt.loss and during maintaining my weight loss and right now in person with 35 pound weight gain. Back to my current issue I'm currently on 100mcg synthyroid and 15mcg Cytomel for almost 6 weeks (New) and been having issues with hypoglycemia issues after eating dinner (roughly hour or 2)after eating JUST after dinner not during the day.
Avatar n tn Are weight loss and drops in blood glucose levels side effects of tamoxifen? I had a lumpectomy for DCIS one year ago and have been on tamoxifen for 10 1/2 months. I started taking the tamoxifen in the evenings; however, I found that I wasn't sleeping well, so I began taking it in the mornings. I find that if I do not take it with my breakfast or immediately after, my blood gluclose levels drop sharply.
Avatar n tn and dizzy, nausea, sweaty feelings are common symptoms of hypoglycemia aspects of diabetes. The frequent urination and weight loss and others are common symptoms of hyperglycemia aspects of diabetes. Only a physician can determine, for sure, if you have diabetes, pre-diabetes, or something else altogether. If your current physician was only willing to test you for anemia (are you being treated for that?), then I recommend you choose another physician for a much more complete workup.
Avatar m tn I'm a 31 year old Hispanic male. Current weight 232lbs, (height = 6'1) with most of it concentrated around my waist. Still, this is also the lowest I've been since I was 13. About a year ago I had a GTT done which revealed me to be a flat-line hypoglycemic. (Fasting = 79, 1/2hr = 81, 1hr = 71, 2hr =79) I have a very strong family history of diabetes and am working to prevent it in myself At least, that's what I hope.
Avatar m tn Would any of these diseases contribute to sudden weight loss? I have been close/over 350 lbs for years, but in the last several months I have dropped a significant amount of weight. I'm down to 287. (20 lbs in the last four weeks alone.) I wish I could say it's because I'm exercising or eating right... but I'm not. I've made no change to physical activity or diet. Any suggestions?
2104507 tn?1333752737 With the FT3 and FT4, you also need another TSH. Some people function better with a higher TSH, which is why you need to know the actual thyroid hormone levels. You should also get actual insulin levels tested, if you can. This should be drawn during a period of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). If insulin is detectable, the indication is insulin resistance, which means your body is producing insulin, but using it. Talk to your doctor about this.
Avatar m tn Im wondering what causes that especially in pancreatitis? I loss alot of weight a year ago, was real sick with abnormal bruising and weakness, falling down, ect, this was before pancreas started acting up again, prior to that I had only one acute episode of pancreatitis. Now its been basically non-stop, confirmed by mri, that it is chronic pancreatitis, and fatty liver.
Avatar n tn Hypoglycemia and diabetes are two different conditions. I will share with you my knowledge of both. Hypoglycemia occurs when a persons pancreas produces too much insulin and their blood sugar drops low enough to produce symptoms of a low blood sugar that may include shakiness, sweating or clammy feeling, or mental confusion. When this happens, glucose needs to be given to raise the blood sugar to a normal level.
Avatar m tn All you can do now is treat the neuropathy and control your blood sugar with a combination of weight loss, exercise, lowering carb intake and oral meds or insulin as prescribed by your doctor.
Avatar n tn thirst that is noticeable, weight loss although the person may be eating a lot, fatigue (also a symptom of low glucose), frequent urination because the person is consuming lots of liquids to quench the thirst.
358971 tn?1330888975 Are you staying away from simple carbs and eating more complex carbs? keeping your blood sugar level is essential for weight control. Are you overweight at all? Just losing 10% of your excess weight will kick in ovulation! Trust me! I did and suddenly got pregnant after 7 years of trying. Anyway, best of luck and keep praying!
Avatar f tn Eat more frequently?? Something is obviously wrong. It could possibly be hypoglycemia or diabetes. Weight loss is not necessarily a symptom, especially of Type 2 Diabetes. Random blood sugar tests are virtually meaningless. He needs to do an A1C which is a test of the average of your blood sugars for the last couple months. If it is not hypoglycemia or diabetes then you need a doctor who will help you figure out what else it might be.
2088051 tn?1334542007 To keep blood sugars stable you need to eat small meals frequently. these should consist of protein and fat (and a little bit of carb). AThe fat and the protein will help the food to be digested slowly and help keep sugars stable. Carbohydrates should be slowly digestible ones with fibre and fat included, ideally. Although you may feel like eating lots of carbs when you shake this may actually make things worse.
Avatar f tn Once I started doing that the hypoglycemic events decreased drastically and I started to gain weight appropriately. Also, I was a candy addict before getting pregnant and if you eat simple sugars like that it will raise and drop your blood sugar quickly. Also had to give that up!! Hope this helps.

Avatar n tn But the most common symptoms are excessive thirst and urination, especially at night, feeling tired all the time and possibly weight loss and vision problems. You may also experience symptoms of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) if you skip meals, which can be feeling shaky, sweating, blurry vision, and feeling cranky or "spacey". These feelings go away when you eat.
Avatar f tn Associated symptoms include sweating, dizziness, anxiety, confusion, weakness and difficulty with speech. Small frequent meals, a healthy weight, less of sugary carbohydrates but more of fruits and vegetables may help. If it persists, check with your doctor for proper evaluation., Take care and best regards.
Avatar n tn When this happens in episodes too close together, the result is loss of warning symptoms of hypoglycemia. So it is important for you to know that the liquids will start raising sugar levels quicker than carbs in solid foods, especially in foods with high fat content. Both will of course raise the sugar levels at some point, but the difference is in timing.
Avatar f tn Last night I had to go to the er because my sugar dropped to 63 and they diagnosed it as hypoglycemia...
Avatar n tn Frequent urination, insatiable thirst and hunger, unexplained weight loss, vision changes, etc are all common symptoms of diabetes. Shaky hands is sometimes a symptom of low blood sugar that affect diabetics from time to time. Similarly, shaky hands can occur in folks who have an unrelated condition called hypoglycemia, in folks with a neurological condition, or in folks who are quite stressed physically or emotionally.
