Hypoglycemia and vision problems

Common Questions and Answers about Hypoglycemia and vision problems

hypoglycemia

Avatar m tn like lightheadedness after meals, not being able to stand still, heart palpations and being heat intolerant, dizziness and chest tightness and being tired plus headaches and a lack of appetite and nausea a lot with some tunnel vision or glared vision(things seem too bright). My doctor recommend that I monitor my blood glucose whenever I experience these symptoms.
Avatar n tn Lately, I have noticed towards the end of my workout, during the cool down, the last 10 minutes, I begin to feel lightheaded...I get the strobelight effect in the middle of my vision, and my entire field of vision begins to darken somewhat. At first, I thought this is near syncope, but recently I had a severe occurrence which my instinct told me to take my blood sugar, so I do and it was 39. I was on the verge of collapse and quickly drank a 12 oz soda and some orange juice.
Avatar n tn If your suffer from episodes of blackouts then those could be due to postural hypotension (falling with change of position—most likely in your case), internal ear problems, cervical spondylitis, anemia, GERD, hypoglycemia or low sugar and some endocrine problems. In postural or orthostatic hypotension blood pressure falls when you stand and causes all the symptoms that you are suffering.
Avatar n tn You don't say if you have type 1 diabetes. How low does your blood sugar drop at how long after eating. Then how high does it spike? Are you on medication or insulin?
Avatar n tn But the most common symptoms are excessive thirst and urination, especially at night, feeling tired all the time and possibly weight loss and vision problems. You may also experience symptoms of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) if you skip meals, which can be feeling shaky, sweating, blurry vision, and feeling cranky or "spacey". These feelings go away when you eat.
Avatar m tn If you do not have blindness literally, but suffer from episodes of blackouts then those could be due to postural hypotension (falling with change of position), internal ear problems, cervical spondylitis, anemia, GERD, hypoglycemia or low sugar and some endocrine problems. I think you should discuss this with your doctor. Get your blood pressure checked. This could also be an episode of transient ischemic attack or mini stroke wherein the blood supply to brain is temporarily cut off.
Avatar f tn Ok so I'm 28+2 and am getting dizzy spells were u feel really hot and my vision goes a little funny. Has anyone else experienced this ???
Avatar n tn You should get a second opinion as you may have been misdiagnosed. Ask to see an Endocrinologist - a diabetes specialist - for a second opinion. To my knowledge, shaking leans more towards hypoglycemia [type 1] than hyperglycemia [type 2] [see the following].
787406 tn?1339203183 Since June 2010 I have had problems with double vision, blurred vision and seeing as if looking through a bubble. I have been to my Opthamologist who says it is neurologic and that my vision is 20/20 with my glasses on. Many things can set it off such as Fluorescent lights, blinking red light, bending over and bright sunlight, bending over, getting mad. Or nothing at all. I don't have high blood pressure, my blood pressure runs 110/70 constantly.
Avatar m tn Also, Migraines and sinus problems are usually hand in hand... growing up I would get a sinus infection which would cause a migraine, and vice versa! I asked my doctor and he told me that migraines are related to swelling of vessles, which could also swell up the sinus cavity and cause any blockage/pressure and sinus infections. If you are prone to them, avoid using otc medicines that contain any kind of antihistamine...
Avatar n tn Er ye so 'm a 19 year old male. And last night i lost vision in both eyes (i.e. blackout), bad pain in chest and abdemon, irregular heartbeat, sweating, shaking and couldn't speak or move for about 5 mins... Avatar m tn I think I just had a panic attack buti'm not sure. 1st I was having vision problems withmy left eye like I was almost blind, I started to seat, heart racing and I threw up twice. I layed in front of the fan and I started to feel better in about 20 to 30 minutes. Now my vision is better but I feel shakey and I my head hurts a little and I need to lay down. Does this sound like a panic attack? Thanks for any help.
Avatar n tn you may want to call your local pharmacist and ask if your symptoms (and possibly hypoglycemia) can be an odd side effect of any or all of these antibiotics, and if so, if there are any that do not have this affect. You might also ask if hypoglycemic symptoms could be the result of an allergy to these drugs.
Avatar n tn hi i dope someone an help. I am 21 years old and i got out of the car today, ran up the field with my dog and when i stopped i got loads of 'stars' in my vision. does anyone know what could have cause this? do you think itsanything serious? im scared its something with the brain!
1773104 tn?1314155711 Certainly hypoglycemia can trigger anxiety and panic, but rarely would it be the sole cause behind it. It is common for someone new to anxiety to do serious soul searching to try and find a logical "reason" behind the new emergence of anxiety and panic. We turn into detectives and try to find a sensible reason why it showed up (most times seemingly "out of the blue").
Avatar m tn We first went to the eye doctor, and she has 20/20 vision. We have an appointment w. her Physician this week, but she ended going to the hospital for extreame dizziness last night. THey did all sorts of test, and her blood sugar was 60. Her test came back fine, the Dr. said there is nothing wrong. She came back over this morning still dizzy. We bought gluclose tablets, which said its the same as oj or a glass of pop and works faster... SO- this is my question.
Avatar m tn Then a ringing in my ears that kept getting louder, as these three things kept getting stronger i started to see blue spots, losing my vision, and felt confusion. i ended the conversation with my buddy and stepped out side, i immidiatly started to sweat as well. but after couple of minutes of fresh air and some water. i felt much better. what might have caused this?
1129232 tn?1360800358 I was just back at the dr today and he said that the vision problems and dizziness are usually not a symptom of Hashimoto's. He suggested i might also have lupus and did blood testing for that as well as did more blood tests to re-check my TSH, FT4 and FT3 levels. i get my blood test results back in a week. Has anyone else had similiar issues?
Avatar f tn I have had countless amounts of blood work, 3 CAT scans of my head/inner ear, MRI of brain, endoscopy and colonoscopy. I have had vision test and hearing test and I have also went to a chiropractor. The reason I posted under this forum is because the most annoying symptoms for me is my vision and dazed/lightheadedness feeling. It just feels like there is a lot of pressure in the front part of my brain. I thank you in advance for your response. I am a 28 year old male.
Avatar n tn If your son has only the symtoms you describe, then hypoglycemia or diabetes are not the cause of his problems. The main reason is that Motrin is not an effective treatment for either condition. Migraines are not common with either condition, and if you aren't seeing any increased urination or thirst, or any of the other symptoms of hypoglycemia (http://www.childrenwithdiabetes.com/download/NovoHypoglycemia.pdf), then I'd say your son's problems lie elsewhere. Good luck.
Avatar n tn Hence it is important to consult an ENT specialist and a neurologist too. At times back and neck problems may persist for years before they really start giving trouble. Chances of TMJ too should be looked into.
Avatar f tn I had just eaten a hotcheetos with lemon bag and my body was telling me to stop several times. But i kept riding and pushing and when i gave up and stopped. My vision started going yellow like if a yellow glass was suddenly put infront of my eyes. I got off my bike staggering i took 2 steps and jsut lay on the ground 1 minute later my vision was back to normal.
Avatar f tn Other causes are anemia, claustrophobia, GERD, hypoglycemia or low sugar and some endocrine problems. Endocrine problems, such as an underactive thyroid (called hypothyroidism), overactive thyroid (called hyperthyroidism), adrenal insufficiency (called Addison's disease), low blood sugar levels, and in some cases, diabetes, may lead to hypotension and hence lightheadedness and an off balance feeling. Certain types of epilepsies and seizures too can cause similar symptoms.
Avatar f tn Monocular double vision is not a common symptom of MS. Typically it's because something is wrong with the eye itself. I've had problems with this in the past, and it's because of my contacts - my eyes get too dry.
