Avatar f tn I am a 34 year old male and have been experiencing severe night sweats. I wake up and all of my clothing and sheets are to the point of soaked. Last night I started experiencing chest pain like my heart hurt with some irregular breathing patterns. I was restless all night and was sweating worse than ever. I am currently taking 40mg of paxil and am also on Lamisil. I am pretty healthy, 200 pounds, 6'1", good libido. I have suffered with some mild depression over the past year.

Avatar n tn Although both men and women suffered from their most intense and most frequent symptoms from the ages of 41 to 55, this report focused on aged subjects in order to isolate the effects of night sweats themselves from the effects of menopause and its associated symptoms. Night sweats during menopause are usually caused by estrogen deficiency, but because both older men and postmenopausal women experience night flashes, in this older group that is less likely to be the case.
Avatar n tn Exercise raises endorphin levels, aids the hypothalamus, and decreases LH and FSH - all of which helps you avoid night sweats. Try to be stress and anxiety free before going to bed. In case the symptoms worsen then pls get your thyroid hormones evaluated and consult a physician.Pls take a second opinion from a gynecologist about perimenopause also. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar m tn Hi, I have similar symptoms but have not gone to be checked because I have just felt that it was menopause. The night sweats are the worse and keep me up most of the night. I have found it feels better if I keep the bedroom on the cool side though it does not get rid of them. I went to the pharmacy to see what they had available for menopausal women and they had this package that has both am and pm pills.
Avatar n tn I have spells where i get light headed. Sometimes at night i have deep sweats. I usually wake up tired and groggy. When i drink alcohol i get really bad hang overs, even if i only have a couple. I've done some research and i could possible have low blood suger (hypoglycemia). This morning i woke up very dizzy. It has lasted all day and i have periods when i feel nausious as well. Any thoughts?
Avatar f tn / Now my PHP has made me an appointment with an internal medicine doctor about the night sweats. Also have 2 cysts in my thyroid, but ENT was unconcerned with those as well because my thyroid levels were checked many times and normal range. Have felt generally yucky (no energy, etc.). Have also had really bad constipation since January that has changed to diarrhea in past couple of weeks. I have crohn's disease so the diarrhea is normal but the constipation is not.
Avatar f tn My husband for the past 2 months has had severe night sweats off and on with minor headaches and sometimes vomiting. He works in an industry where he could have had heavy metal poisoning, negative, the only thing that has been high is cabon monoxide levels and he smokes and we have had everything check home and work and no levels of it. Anyone else had this happen. The sweat runs off of him like water and he has hot flashes he is 42 6'3" and weights 165.
Avatar n tn Certain infections, like tuberculosis, bacterial infections, abscesses and osteomyelitis can cause night sweats. AIDS and HIV can also produce night sweats. Some cancers, like lymphoma, hormone disorders like carcinoid syndrome and hypothyroidism and hypoglycemia (low blood glucose) and some neurologic conditions like strokes, autonomic neuropathy, and post-traumatic syringomyelia can also cause night sweats.
Avatar n tn Other endocrine gland related conditions like acromegaly and glucose control disorders (diabetes and hypoglycemia both) all result in increased sweating. Pheochromocytoma, cancers, carcinoid syndromes, tuberculosis and other infections too can cause increased sweating. It can also be due to low blood pressure. I think you should discuss these possibilities with your doctor. It is difficult to comment beyond this without examining.

Avatar f tn I would have your hormone levels checked. It sounds like you might be low in estrogen and I think having a baby can cause hormones to fluctuate. The dry scalp fits with low estrogen and so do the night sweats, but I don't really know about the swollen lymph node. A lot of women suffer through these kind of symptoms but if you don't have to why do it? I'm on treatment for both estrogen and progesterone (I'm perimenopausal) and it helps tremendously.
Avatar n tn Hi, For 20 years I have been having these strange symptoms I am hoping somebody in the forum can shed some light on them. The symptoms come in periods of weeks to months at a time but then go away for equally long periods of time.
Avatar m tn My skin would then feel cold icy on my hands and covered in sweat clammy feeling like when your hot but still feel cold and have to put on jumper and tracks and socks etc cold cold this lasts for ten or so minutes upto 5 times a day usually twice. I have to change my t shirts and pants to often and i hate it, its so embarrassing. I also am extremely sensitive to change in temperature. Except even when it changes to cold for example outside at night i feel cold and then begin to sweat.
Avatar m tn Keep in mind that antidepressants frequently cause night sweats. I get them from Lexapro and Celexa, for example. So medication can cause the same symptoms as anxiety. One thing you might try is dividing the Zoloft dose in two -- sometimes that levels the side effects and keeps a steady amount in your bloodstream.
Avatar f tn Hi, I had the right side of my thyroid removed last year due to a benign nodule. They didn't know it was benign until they removed it as the FNA was inconclusive. I'm going through the menopause and have night sweats but you're far too young for that. Did your doctor put you on medication for your thyroid after your op? a month after my operation I was put on a 100mg of Thyroxine and seems I'm on it for life.
Avatar f tn Im 27 weeks and oh my lord. I had them really really bad early on, like i would wake up and be drenched. It didnt matter if i slept in my pjs or just my undies. It has calmed down a lot though since the first few months. I always have a fan going and have a cold pillow inbetween my legs.
Avatar f tn I never had night sweats with menopause and have a hysterectomy. My sheets, pillow and nightgown are soaked every night for over a month, but I am cold. I kept forgetting to tell my doctor. I am calling tomorrow. Not to jump to conclusions, but I read that this is a sign of lymphoma. I just had a CT Scan and they said my lymph nodes were fine. Has anyone else had this with cancer in general. I was on Carbo/taxol, but it has been a month off and now am 5 days into Doxil.
Avatar m tn Does anyone know the specifics of Night sweats and ARS? Like how long do they last, and how much sweat you produce. I have been having them every night for the past 2+ months... And also I heard Teak say on another post, that swollen lymphnodes associated with ARS are not Tender, and do not hurt with pressure applied. Can anyone confirm this?
1064938 tn?1255282319 Hey Lisa, With the usual night sweats I always got days 2,3,4, you are OK and all of a sudden you are having a hot flash and are drenched and feel like you're in a sauna. You kick off the covers and then 10 min later, you are cold and put the covers back on. Then this process repeats itself all night. I always get those the first 3 days or so. The other day though, (day 9, I think) the chills and night sweats started again. With these sweats I'm getting now.
Avatar m tn I have had day sweats, night sweats, just think sweats, dont think sweats, big sweats, little sweats AND I even sweat in the shower. No I did not have this problem prior to last week. Got me some of that Avon perfume scented roll on deodrant. That seems to be my new best friend. I have been drinking about a gallon of water daily for over two weeks. Thanks for all your posts EVERYONE. It sure helped pre tx and now. Very appreciative newbie.
703031 tn?1398963307 I am a 33 year old female and have recently begun to experience night sweats. (approx. the past 6 to 8 weeks). Some nights I sweat enough to soak my hair and pillow and a portion of the sheets. Other nights, I wake up soaked from head to toe where I need to towel off and change my sheets. Should I contact my doctor and make an appointment? I hate going in for something that is "completely normal"...lol. My room isn't hot at all.
Avatar f tn My first month on treatment was hot flashes one minute and chills the next but then the hot flashes and night sweats disappeared. So no night sweats for me while on TX and I am hoping they don't return when TX ends but time will tell.
Avatar f tn When I started, I was also taking bioidentical progesterone, estrogen mix and DHEA to control hot flashes and night sweats, which it was doing very well. Once levothyroxine came in, the flashes and night sweats came back with a vengeance and I had trouble sleeping.
