Avatar n tn The hypoglycemia episode followed by SEVERE leg cramps and then nausea concerns me. I have hypoglycemia episodes once or twice a week but do try and control the with diet and excercise. Sometimes I really do not know why they come, yesterday was one of those instances. I have NEVER had any sort of cramps or nausea following an episode. Is this normal? Common? Something more serious with my blood glucose? Something that will effect my heart if it continues? Please help me find answers.

Avatar n tn Sometimes when hypo, my stomach gets very upset, sometimes not. And muscle cramps can happen because of being low, too. Mood swings are another symptom... your suicidal thoughts could be an extreme reaction to the depression that can hit when hypoglycemic. As for any connection to the heat exhaustion episode, we can't tell you.
Avatar f tn I would see your doctor about this very soon, as folks with hypoglycemia may develop diabetes later on. You may have pre-diabetes, and need to go on a diabetic diet. Meanwhile, make sure you have both protein and carbohydrates with all meals, and with all snacks, which you seem to be doing. You also might need to get a dietary consult and/or see an endocrinologist, for both are specially trained in working with people with blood sugar problems.
Avatar n tn If you were also complaining of excessive thirst and urination and loss of weight and muscle aches; the combination of symptoms might suggest that you get tested for diabetes. There may be other causes for your tiredness and headaches related to the IVF meds and I would talk with your doctor about this. Additionally, going through IVF can be a very tiring and stressful process in and of itself, so don't be too hard on yourself if you do tire easily.

All loop diuretics including Lasix, cause low potassium levels (hypokalemia). And low potassium levels can cause cramping. That is why Lasix is only taken in addition to Spironolactone. Never alone. This is not my opinion. From the Practice Guideline of the AASLD.

Avatar f tn Hello, Are you experiencing a lot of pain from the BFS? I have been on Neurontin before for nerve damage in my spine and have heard it can cause muscle cramps in some people. I have also heard, and I don't usually sway people in this direction on MedHelp, but Opiates, such as Oxycontin, are very helpful for your condition. I am assuming you are speaking of Benign fasciculation syndrome? Correct?

Avatar f tn Ellen, Muscle cramps are a common complication of cirrhosis. About half of all persons with cirrhosis experience muscle cramps. Muscle cramps are related to the duration of cirrhosis and the severity of liver damage. The exact reason for leg cramps is unknown. More study must be done in this area before we have a real solution for at least most sufferers. It's cause is probably multiple factors. So there is no one effective treatment for cramps.

Avatar f tn Actoplusmet along with diet has caused daily reading to be perfectly between 80 and 120 and A1C levels have averaged between 5.5 and 5.0. This is all without any exercise program (I do stand and walk all day, but that's all). All of this is to say that I want to take as few medications as possible. I was also prescribed Lexapro, Lamictal, and Welbutrin for dystymia and anxiety. I recently taperd off the Lexapro.
