hypoglycemia

Avatar n tn You should contact your doctor to rule out any serious condition such as liver, kidney disease. Take care and thanks for your question.
Avatar n tn I don't understand how alcohol can cause hypoglycemina in diabetics. It seems to me that it would cause hyperglycemia because of the sugar in the alcohol. I just heard a story of an adult who passed out twice because she had wine after taking insulin. Her blood sugar was 175 when she took her insulin and within 15 minutes she was passed out.
Avatar f tn This can be due to overproduction of insulin, certain disorders of the adrenal glands and the pituitary gland, liver and kidney disease, and certain medications. The way to begin to treat your hypoglycemia is to work with your doctor to find the underlying cause. Treating the cause will help to treat the hypoglycemia. I hope this helps.
Avatar n tn It screens for autoimmune diseases. Autoimmune hepatitis is and autoimmune liver disease. AMA is a test for primary biliary cirrhosis, another autoimmune disease. I have primary sclerosing cholangitis, simiarl to PBC but affects different ducts. If you google all of those they can sounds scary but they aren't that bad. I mean they aren't great but many PBCers are dx with it after finding abnormal liver tests. The thing that really struck me was your gallbladder thing.
502219 tn?1311357910 some of the symptoms you describe could be related to hypoglycemia; I agree that you cannot ascribe them to NASH-related liver disease.
Avatar m tn There are several types of fatty liver disease - simple fatty liver disease (steatosis), non alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), alcoholic fatty liver.and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) which can be very serious. The point is a fatty liver can cause inflammation and result in an enlarged liver and elevated liver enzymes. Since viral and autoimmune hepatitis have been ruled out in your case I think your fatty liver might well be causing your elevated liver enzymes.

Avatar n tn Like 2dawn said always consult your doctor another old discussion here. http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Hepatitis-C/HR--mixing-ALA-and-R--ALA-dangerous/show/1292687 I wouldn't consider taking this myself especially during a new treatment. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lipoic_acid This article needs more medical references for verification or relies too heavily on primary sources. Avatar n tn Hi and welcome. Sorry but I don't have any answers for you. This sounds like a question that only a qualified dr that works with the liver, etc can answer. I do know that there is a lot of natural support out there for the liver that a lot of drs even recommend. One of them would be a liver detox that includes milk thistle in it. Or something that is labeled for liver support. Everything we eat and consume affects our liver including meds.
Avatar n tn Shaky hands can be due to stress and anxiety, too much consumption of caffeine or alcohol, low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), autoimmune disease like multiple sclerosis, thyroid disorders, nerve compression, and liver disease. Cut down on smoking, alcohol and coffee, if you take them in more quantity. Eat on time. Do deep breathing exercises. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Take care!
Avatar m tn Hi, I saw a post of a case similar to mine where the liver was affected as well as the pancreas with wieght gain instead of loss on a low fat diet. Im wondering what causes that especially in pancreatitis? I loss alot of weight a year ago, was real sick with abnormal bruising and weakness, falling down, ect, this was before pancreas started acting up again, prior to that I had only one acute episode of pancreatitis.
Avatar f tn t think hypoglycemia has specifically been linked to MS, there was some research happening with MS and Diabetes a few years ago and another looking for an association with blood sugar and disability rates...
Avatar n tn Since he also gets temperature fluctuations, the first things to be ruled out are thyroid disorders, adrenal gland problems, anemia, diabetes, hypoglycemia, liver diseases, low Vit B12, and vasovagal attacks. Avatar n tn reactive (postprandial, or after meals) and fasting (postabsorptive). Reactive hypoglycemia is not usually related to any underlying disease; fasting hypoglycemia often is. Symptoms Symptoms of both types resemble the symptoms that people with diabetes and hypoglycemia experience: hunger, nervousness, perspiration, shakiness, dizziness, light-headedness, sleepiness, confusion, difficulty speaking, and feeling anxious or weak.
Avatar n tn Shaky hands can be due to stress and anxiety, too much consumption of caffeine or alcohol, low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), autoimmune disease like multiple sclerosis, thyroid disorders, nerve compression in the spinal area, and liver disease. I think you should discuss these possibilities with your doctor. It is difficult to comment beyond this without examining. A comprehensive investigation is required keeping all the points in mind. Hope this helps. Take care!
