hypoglycemia

Avatar n tn The symptoms are vary varied and might include dizziness, feeling generally out of it, fatigue, irritability, disorientation, tingling. Testing is the key as if your numbers have been high for awhile you will feel low even if you're not. You should treat any lows below 60 (some treat below 70) with a couple glucose tablets. You will learn the correct number for you.
Avatar n tn I have a home BP monitor and during these times I notice my BP drops down to sometimes 100/60 when my BP is almost allways normally around 135/80. I have also gained about 35 pounds in the last several months with no explanation except for my incresed hunger. I am a 29 yrold male can you please tell me if I'm at the verge of diabetes or is this something else?
Avatar n tn If you suspect that you are having hypoglycemic episodes, you may want to try drinking a small amount of orange juice when you feel this way (about a half cup to a cup) and then see if you feel better within about 15 minutes as the juice is digested. If your problem is hypoglycemia, you should feel better.

On a personal note, it is generally considered unsafe to simply stop one's medications, especially if that change was not planned for with your doctor. Hope you'll call your doc, get a referral to an endo -- and let us know what you find out.
Avatar f tn Actoplusmet along with diet has caused daily reading to be perfectly between 80 and 120 and A1C levels have averaged between 5.5 and 5.0. This is all without any exercise program (I do stand and walk all day, but that's all). All of this is to say that I want to take as few medications as possible. I was also prescribed Lexapro, Lamictal, and Welbutrin for dystymia and anxiety. I recently taperd off the Lexapro.
Avatar m tn I've been suffering on and off from what I think is some kind of metabolic disorder or low blood sugar level. I've always gotten the typical irritability/shakiness when hungry ever since I was little, but it seems really out of hand right now. Before a meal/when I'm hungry, I have all the symptoms of hypoglycemia and have to eat NOW to feel better. So I'll eat a snack or my usual meal, but about 30mins to 1hour later I get tired, weak, lightheaded and hot flushes.
Avatar n tn I believe this is because it happens so slowly that the body is without necessary sugar for a long time, and lengthy periods of hypoglycemia are harder on the body than when it is caught quickly and fixed. All that being said, I suggest that you encourage him to start testing every 2-3 hours. I find that it is pretty much impossible to drop severely low in that period of time with Lantus, if the dosage is correct and the last blood test was normal.
Avatar n tn my two year old son was just diagnosed with ketonic hypoglycemia and our endocrinologist and geneticist are having us put cornstarch in a drink or applesauce before he goes to bed to help his sugars last all night long so his body does not go into a fasting state. He has had four glycemic spells and each has gotten worse. we almost lost him this last time and needed some answer. ask your doctor about this.
605458 tn?1539228808 It is unlike normal or even PMS irritability. It comes on SO fast and I act before I can stop myself. I throw things, kick things, hit things. It is embarrassing and I am afraid of it happening in public. After the event, I can see how it was inappropriate and an over-reaction. I'm too old to behave like a 13 year old throwing a tantrum. I'm wondering why my bipolar disorder has evolved into this.
1691407 tn?1332712547 Irritability and grumpiness are side effects of the interferon. My husband had both. Forgetting or being irritable over irrational things could be a side effect, or it could be HE. Check with his Hepa.
Avatar n tn Nope. Just a sign that you're pregnant. I get that way occasionally too and I'm currently overdue, which reeeaaallly helps w the irritability part. Lol.
Avatar n tn Ok Mommys I have been extremely irritable and hormonal the last two days and I just don't feel good at all. No consistent contractions but I've heard increased irritability is sometimes a sign of labor coming soon. Anyone have experience with this?!?!

Avatar m tn It does not sound like you are dipping into and out of hypoglycemia, which would include symptoms like irritability, shakiness, and nervousness. Chronic Fatigue or Fibromyalgia can give you weak arms & legs, with sweat, but usually show up with a myriad of other problems.

2010625 tn?1329372056 I have started to become nervous and irritable again and it is scary. I was like that for two years straight and I really don't want to do it again. I eventually got diagnosed with PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder), and later with Bipolar Disorder. The only thing that made it go away was the Risperdal they put me on. Unfortunately I had to go off of it because it raised my prolactin (the hormone that makes women lactate and can also stop a womans period) level sky high.
Avatar n tn m 27 and have been having muscle shaking/weakness spells, severe sensitivity to cold, fatigue, heart racing, confusion, irritability and blurred vision spells for 12 years. I also sometimes have a strange numb kind of feeling in my mouth area. 12 years ago went to endocrinologist, neurologist, gp, cardiologist and no one found anything. Diagnosed with possible hypoglycemia.
1773104 tn?1314155711 Certainly hypoglycemia can trigger anxiety and panic, but rarely would it be the sole cause behind it. It is common for someone new to anxiety to do serious soul searching to try and find a logical "reason" behind the new emergence of anxiety and panic. We turn into detectives and try to find a sensible reason why it showed up (most times seemingly "out of the blue").
Avatar m tn Hi, I am a 23 year old male. I have had quite a few symptoms that seem to be all over the place for a while now. Ringing in ears, facial redness, weight gain, depression, insomnia, fatigue, irritability, tingling in hands &/or feet, muscle cramps in legs when I stretch out and also out of the blue, headaches in back of head/base of neck, increased sweating and feeling hot, digestive problems such as gas and bloating, along with constant heart burn/acid reflux.
Avatar n tn well this could be the hypoglycemia, i too have it but dont often have symptoms because i eat constantly and eat candy often. but i am no doctor so you should definately ask your doctor about it. hypoglycemia seems to be thought of as not serious, but in fact its just as serious as diabetes, and also can progress like diabetes. you may have been told this 5 years ago but it may have progressed to a higher level. it could be worse. you need to have your doctor check your blood sugar levels.
