Hypoglycemia and headaches

Common Questions and Answers about Hypoglycemia and headaches

hypoglycemia

Avatar n tn I have to agree with JDRF-VOL-RL that your son's headaches sound worse than those that can accompany hypoglycemia. But I did want to add that low glucose levels do often show themselves with headaches. So if your doctor has no other ideas, it probably doesn't hurt to perhaps get a blood glucose test done on him, ideally while he has one of his headaches. But I agree with JDRF-VOL-RL that these sound more like real migraines than hypo headaches.
Avatar n tn Dear TimsAngel Reactive Hypoglycemia can cause severe headaches. You didn'nt say if you have diabetes. If you are on insulin your dosage may need adjusting. My son has type 1 diabetes and after a hypoglycemia episode suffered from very bad headaches. If you do not have diabetes you may want to look carefully at diet, sugar, starch, etc. They can have an effect. Since I am not a physician, I would strongly recommend to see a good endo and dietician who specialize in this area.
Avatar n tn I have a home BP monitor and during these times I notice my BP drops down to sometimes 100/60 when my BP is almost allways normally around 135/80. I have also gained about 35 pounds in the last several months with no explanation except for my incresed hunger. I am a 29 yrold male can you please tell me if I'm at the verge of diabetes or is this something else?
Avatar n tn You don't say if you have type 1 diabetes. How low does your blood sugar drop at how long after eating. Then how high does it spike? Are you on medication or insulin?

1034736 tn?1319559035 I get nauseous and dizzy after I eat and sometimes I get headaches and hot flashes (my ears turn red and get hot). Anyone ever experience anything like this?
Avatar f tn I would see your doctor about this very soon, as folks with hypoglycemia may develop diabetes later on. You may have pre-diabetes, and need to go on a diabetic diet. Meanwhile, make sure you have both protein and carbohydrates with all meals, and with all snacks, which you seem to be doing. You also might need to get a dietary consult and/or see an endocrinologist, for both are specially trained in working with people with blood sugar problems.
Avatar n tn ve also had an echocardiogram for palpitations and and brain MRI for headaches/lightheadedness. And yes, I do eat before I workout. Do you know what's wrong with me? Do I need some kind of major workup? I am 30 yrs old.
Avatar f tn lately ive noticed that ive been having headaches almost everyday and that my body temperature has been like 95 or as low as 94. a couple of days ago i started getting a pretty bad cough but that is starting to go away so i think that is a normal cold. also im in sports so i exercise regularly. ive researched but i couldn't find anything that could be wrong. would anybody know any possibilities?
Avatar f tn Headaches also could indicate high blood pressure, hypoglycemia, stress, migraines, and cluster and tension headaches. If the pain is, one sided, tumor and aneurysm need to be excluded with an MRI brain. Sinusitis is another condition where headache may present, varying with movement of head. You are welcome with further elaboration of your condition and for more queries. Wish you all the best.

Avatar n tn My 12 year old son recently lost 5 pounds and was tired and complained of headaches and fatigue. His pediatrician tested his urine which was fine and he said diabetes would show in the urine test. Over the last two months, he has gained back three pounds and has less headaches and fatigue but now has intense sugar cravings. It was so bad that his teacher called me from school because she found out he was pouring sugar into his water bottles and bringing them to school to drink during the day.

Avatar n tn When my blood sugar was checked it read 30, and the nurses all looked at me and asked if I was okay, and they told me that patients here go into diabetic coma. They told me to eat something, so had a box of girl scout cookes that I had enten then after about 30 minutes or so I rechecked it and it was I think around 80. This happend all the time and after telling my doctor they did a fasting blood sugar, but it all was okay.
Avatar n tn If you suspect that you are having hypoglycemic episodes, you may want to try drinking a small amount of orange juice when you feel this way (about a half cup to a cup) and then see if you feel better within about 15 minutes as the juice is digested. If your problem is hypoglycemia, you should feel better.
Avatar f tn These are vague symptoms for hypoglycemia. I would see an Endocrinologist and have some bloodwork done.

Avatar n tn Hello, my daughter has been having headaches for years, and the doctors would always tell me that it is from stress, but lately I've noticed that she starts having a headache right after she eats or if she is hungry. I thought it was from carbohydrates, and started a diary to keep a track of the meals she's had the days when she had headaches. But it seems that her headache can come from nowhere, and in addition to that she feels like vomiting sometimes, but she never really does vomit.
