hypoglycemia

Avatar n tn I have hypoglycemia which makes me tired, nauseous, over hungry, and leaves me with no energy throughout the day. What can I eat more or less of to get this under control? I can barely switch over laundry without feeling exhausted and dizzy.
Avatar n tn Avoid too much of caffeine, tea, fried food and drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic fuzzy ones. Avoid heavy exercises within 4 hours of a heavy meal. Raise the head end of the bed by pillows to 30 degrees. Avoid lying down for at least 2 hours after food. Take a late night snack and keep lozenges or crackers beside to bed to be eaten when the hunger pain starts.

Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed pre diabetic. After 2 years of dieting, I went to have my A1C checked because my sugar levels have been jumping over 160 after I eat, then two hours later crashing to 36. Assuming I was just not doing well, the doc calls me to tell me I have reversed my pre diabeties. A1C is 5.4. So then why is this happening? She has no idea and kinda blew me off. Now I do not know what to do. Is this normal? If not what should I be looking for?
Avatar f tn After the birth of my child 20 years ago, I started to have some troubles. Was dieting, going to school and the gym, and put on 10 lbs overnight, with serious chest pain. After the blood work revealed that I was hypo, I was put on Synthroid. I lost weight, felt better, but adjusting has been continuous. I am not on the anti depressants, due to the weight gain, and suffer the insomnia and depression.
Avatar n tn asp Take this test and see if you do in fact have hypoglycemia. Just from reading from a few sites it seems like its possible for you. I have it pretty bad and I have to be very careful. It sure has made dieting a pain since I have to have snacks all the time just to keep it normal.
1204020 tn?1493698890 He sometimes gets really high blood pressure, to the point where his face turns red and he gets a bad headache, and sometimes he gets extreme hypoglycemia with this, too, and needs to get some sugar. So, maybe it is something with your pituitary. Cushing's (high cortisol) disease can also cause high blood pressure. Mononucleosis (EBV) could cause dizziness and nausea, along with fatigue, swollen lymph nodes, sometimes cold symptoms like a sore throat. Goodluck!
1773104 tn?1314155711 Certainly hypoglycemia can trigger anxiety and panic, but rarely would it be the sole cause behind it. It is common for someone new to anxiety to do serious soul searching to try and find a logical "reason" behind the new emergence of anxiety and panic. We turn into detectives and try to find a sensible reason why it showed up (most times seemingly "out of the blue").
Avatar m tn I'm a 31 year old Hispanic male. Current weight 232lbs, (height = 6'1) with most of it concentrated around my waist. Still, this is also the lowest I've been since I was 13. About a year ago I had a GTT done which revealed me to be a flat-line hypoglycemic. (Fasting = 79, 1/2hr = 81, 1hr = 71, 2hr =79) I have a very strong family history of diabetes and am working to prevent it in myself At least, that's what I hope.
Avatar n tn well this could be the hypoglycemia, i too have it but dont often have symptoms because i eat constantly and eat candy often. but i am no doctor so you should definately ask your doctor about it. hypoglycemia seems to be thought of as not serious, but in fact its just as serious as diabetes, and also can progress like diabetes. you may have been told this 5 years ago but it may have progressed to a higher level. it could be worse. you need to have your doctor check your blood sugar levels.
5150207 tn?1374211560 I've not been dieting, but all of a sudden I lost my appetite. I didn't even realize it, until one morning getting my daughters ready for the bus & almost passing out, it hit me that I hadn't eaten anything in almost a week, with the exception of drinking fluids. I've always been comfortable with my weight. I am tall and don't show my weight. I'm 5'11", and 169lbs never showed much. I stood on my scales after getting the girls on the bus and it showed 145lbs.
Avatar n tn Have you had a glucose tolerance test to see if your body produces too much insulin as a reaction when you eat? This is a different test from having a simple blood sugar test -- you must drink a sugary solution and blood is drawn several times to see how your body is reacting. Unfortunately, when people have what is called REACTIVE HYPOGLYCEMIA (when the body reacts by over-producing insulin, which causes hypoglycemia), it can be difficult to show in a test.
Avatar f tn helps lose the weight and shrinks the uturus. so if your breastfeeding i dont think dieting is recommended because you need the extra calories. and exercise whenever you're up for it and have the energy but definitely 6wks to heal. and 30lbs isn't alot you wont have much to lose after baby is born and all your body fluids level out.
Avatar n tn You may not know that a dry mouth which can feel like thirst is one of the symptoms of hypoglycemia as well as diabetes. And logic tells us that if your mouth is dry and you are drinking lots of fluids, you will urinate often. I am a tightly-controlled type 1 diabetic, and the dry mouth feeling that I get when my glucose is low is almost identical to the sensation of having high blood sugar.
Avatar m tn yes, i was diagnosed with hypoglycemia of some kind, at the doctors office my blood pressure was 70/50 i felt dizzy, its always low, and my resting heart rate is 45 or so , and i do smoke which i think is wierd, i used to exercise a little, plus i also take klonopin and zoloft......
Avatar n tn Is hypoglycemia the same as diabetes? What's the difference between type 1 and type2 diabetes? is it the age of the person that makes the difference between the two types?
Avatar n tn In general, we need to find medical professionals with whom we can discuss and work well. Whether you have ongoing hypoglycemia or eventually become diabetic, you need a *sustainable* life style. Often adult-onset "anything" is difficult because, as adults we've developed some habits that may work against us. If you need to create some new healthier habits, do jump at the opportunity.
Avatar m tn ” So then you start looking at the spaghetti sauce and it has almost no fat... and then there’s the “no-fat” cakes and cookies – and all that other stuff. So then people think, “Great, I can eat all I want.” They eat almost no fat at all – and end up GAINING weight That’s why you need to know the other side of the story. If you eat only low-fat foods, most of them are low in fiber and also very high in carbs. Because they are low in fiber you have to eat more to feel full.
Avatar f tn I had (1) raisen bagel with jelly, milk and (1) banana and calculated the calories and its seems really high 458 calories is that right? Anyone have some input?
Avatar f tn This is my 4th baby so I should be a pro by now lol but I never had weight issues before.Just had my first visit and I am 194 never been so close to 200 and I'm terrified. Can I diet and exercise?

Avatar f tn I'm 5"1 and female, and my unhealthy lifestyle has led to my present weight of 273lbs. As of Monday, July 19, 2010, I implemented a change. I traded my usual fast food lunch (two slices of pizza, or burgers, or fried food) for something less fattening (an apple, a head of anise, carrots), I stopped having my usual after work snack of 9-12 pieces of sliced cheese (at 90 calories per piece), I try not to go overboard at dinner.
Avatar m tn You have to train hard and eat vlesn. No excuses. Dmsll portioned meals .. have 3 main meals and 3 snacks. It is recommended to have 1 fruit and 5 serves of veggies but small portions. Drink 1.5-2 litres of water a day.
Avatar f tn I am 9 weeks pregnant and have gained 8 lbs. I know it's too much, and my gut is unappealing. Is it safe to diet in the first trimester? I want me and my little tadpole to be as healthy as possible. If it is safe, does anyone have a safe diet to try? All replies appreciated. (This is my 3rd pregnancy).
400610 tn?1201703516 i know that orange juice has a lot of sugar, but because it's orange juice, is it not a healthy drink? i love orange juice. if it's not, then i'll have to stop drinking it, but it will be difficult. i've only been dieting for two weeks, now. i weighed 230 lbs, when i started. i'm only 5'4". i'd like to lose 65 -70 lbs. i'm running every weekday and doing push-ups and sit-ups, everyday. also, i'm doing a good job of eating healthy. no fried foods.
Avatar f tn Dangerously, and in ways that will guarantee gaining all of it back...and possibly more. The only way to lose weight for good is to do it the old fashioned way.
529994 tn?1212850084 I was diagnosed with PCOS in May. They started me on Metformin at 500mg 2x/day, which was too harsh on my stomach. They dropped me down to 250mg 2x/day, which I seem to tolerate ok. I've lost about 10 lbs so far--since May, but I've given up my fast food, and soda-diet & regular. You might want to try doing something along those lines first. I was on Atkins about 4 years ago, and it's really, really tough. I lost 55lbs while on it, and then got pregnant.
