956433 tn?1255977108 I have hypoglycemia and I think that it was the cause of my first panic attacks. When your blood sugar gets low your body will pump adrenaline into the system. Somehow it works with the insulin. Not really sure. I do know that when I don't eat every few hours, and when I say eat I mean a balanced meal (protein, carb, good fat), my anxiety will get tuned up quite a bit. My latest spell of anxiety that I've had for a year started when I had a panic attack one afternoon around 1:00 pm.

On a personal note, it is generally considered unsafe to simply stop one's medications, especially if that change was not planned for with your doctor. Hope you'll call your doc, get a referral to an endo -- and let us know what you find out.
Avatar n tn If you suspect that you are having hypoglycemic episodes, you may want to try drinking a small amount of orange juice when you feel this way (about a half cup to a cup) and then see if you feel better within about 15 minutes as the juice is digested. If your problem is hypoglycemia, you should feel better.
Avatar n tn Feeling depressed can be one of the symptoms of hypoglycemia. For some people, the symptom is more a sense of being irritable and snappish, and in other people it is unexplained depression or dissatisfaction with life in general. In my case, that depression lifts as soon as my sugars return to normal. I have a couple of suggestions that help me remain cheery: 1. You might want to calibrate your monitor to make sure that it is reading your levels accurately. Best to be sure about that. 2.
1773104 tn?1314155711 Certainly hypoglycemia can trigger anxiety and panic, but rarely would it be the sole cause behind it. It is common for someone new to anxiety to do serious soul searching to try and find a logical "reason" behind the new emergence of anxiety and panic. We turn into detectives and try to find a sensible reason why it showed up (most times seemingly "out of the blue").

Avatar n tn well this could be the hypoglycemia, i too have it but dont often have symptoms because i eat constantly and eat candy often. but i am no doctor so you should definately ask your doctor about it. hypoglycemia seems to be thought of as not serious, but in fact its just as serious as diabetes, and also can progress like diabetes. you may have been told this 5 years ago but it may have progressed to a higher level. it could be worse. you need to have your doctor check your blood sugar levels.

Avatar n tn Alcohol use also will diminish your awareness of the symptoms of hypoglycemia so you may not know your glucose levels are dropping. And if you pass out while out with friends, their reaction will be to leave you to "sleep it off" not knowing that severe hypoglcyemia can kill you or do lasting brain damage. Again, both of these increase your risks.
Avatar n tn t tell you. I would suggest that you maybe treat it as if it may be caused by hypoglycemia, and when you feel funny like this, drink a half cup or so of juice, followed by some protein like nuts. Avatar n tn Have you had a glucose tolerance test to see if your body produces too much insulin as a reaction when you eat? This is a different test from having a simple blood sugar test -- you must drink a sugary solution and blood is drawn several times to see how your body is reacting. Unfortunately, when people have what is called REACTIVE HYPOGLYCEMIA (when the body reacts by over-producing insulin, which causes hypoglycemia), it can be difficult to show in a test.
Avatar n tn I am a 62 year old female, overweight, taking medication for hypertension, depression, osteoporosis and ETD. For the past several days, at approximately the same time, I get very shaky, weak and sweaty. After eating something sweet the feeling will disappear. I have had this sensation before but not often. Is this something that I need to be concerned about?
Avatar n tn You may not know that a dry mouth which can feel like thirst is one of the symptoms of hypoglycemia as well as diabetes. And logic tells us that if your mouth is dry and you are drinking lots of fluids, you will urinate often. I am a tightly-controlled type 1 diabetic, and the dry mouth feeling that I get when my glucose is low is almost identical to the sensation of having high blood sugar.
