Hypoglycemia and coffee

Common Questions and Answers about Hypoglycemia and coffee

hypoglycemia

Avatar n tn Many people have some hypoglycemia(through increased insulin sensitivity) after they exercise and the effect can last for hours afterwards. If you are on insulin, you can decrease your dose prior to exercising. Otherwise, you can eat some additional carbs prior to exercising and also afterwards, with some complexed in a meal so that it lasts for a while to prevent hypoglycemia later.
Avatar m tn There are many books out there about low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), my favorite of which is Low Blood Sugar and You, by Carleton Fredericks. Hypoglycemia affects the workings of all our glands, our minds, our sleep rhythms, growth cycles, our very brains and thinking. SassieLassie, I had similar test reactions. So humiliating and embarrassing; very much like panic attacks. As far as your last sentence, though, I've had a couple of really nasty supervisors...
Avatar n tn Avoid too much of tea, coffee, smoking and spicy food. Take up yoga, deep breathing exercise, walking and remain strong and happy. Music and aerobics are also good stress busters. Drink plenty of fluids and water (not caffeine), eat fresh fruits and vegetables and keep yourself busy throughout the day.
Avatar n tn Also, many typical sufferers of hypoglycemia find that they will have hypoglcyemic episodes after eating sugary foods. This is called reactive hypoglycemia, and it means that the body over-responds to the sugary food by producing too much insulin, therefore causing the blood sugar levels to drop. People who live with hypoglycemia often can control this problem by eating a carefully-chosen diet (do a Google search on Hypoglycemia to see suggestions).
Avatar n tn Shaky hands can be due to stress and anxiety, too much consumption of caffeine or alcohol, low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), autoimmune disease like multiple sclerosis, thyroid disorders, nerve compression, and liver disease. Cut down on smoking, alcohol and coffee, if you take them in more quantity. Eat on time. Do deep breathing exercises. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Take care!
Avatar n tn Pls check out your emotional state and coffee or alcohol consumption. Also get your blood sugar, thyroid hormones and liver function tests evaluated. If diagnosed as intention tremors then pls consult a physician.Although they are difficult to treat, but if the condition affecting the cerebellum can be corrected, the tremor may resolve. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar n tn had 1 cup...everything was fine. Then I got a second cup of coffee, drank it, and 5 minutes later started feeling jittery. I assumed that the waiter served me regular, caffeinated coffee by mistake. Okay...I can understand feeling a little jittery. But then I started feeling a tiny bit dizzy and queasy. I've never fainted, but I felt awful. I got home and still didn't feel better. I took my temperature & it was running low, about 96 degrees.
1773104 tn?1314155711 Certainly hypoglycemia can trigger anxiety and panic, but rarely would it be the sole cause behind it. It is common for someone new to anxiety to do serious soul searching to try and find a logical "reason" behind the new emergence of anxiety and panic. We turn into detectives and try to find a sensible reason why it showed up (most times seemingly "out of the blue").
Avatar f tn Certainly could be. Some people apparently have dips in BP that trigger disturbed sleep too (just like with apnea and similar stuff, even hypoglycemia, the body "panics" to try to restore basic functions). If something along those lines is going on for you, addressing it can make a big difference, not just each morning but cumulatively as your body is able to rest better for days or weeks. Let us know if this pattern keeps up for you.
Avatar m tn YES. I am only borderline hyperthyroid, "subclinical" by definition (low TSH, normal free T4) and I am the exact same way. If I haven't eaten in a while (a while form me now is about two hours!) I will start to get lightheaded and very anxious. And I'm like you, I'm worse in the morning-afternoon and typically feel MUCH better at night, and it's probably because I've been eating all day.
1363339 tn?1338771053 I try as much as possible to avoid stress dose (HC). After taking two pieces of bread and a muffin, I felt better but still groggy and some shaky. I had once made a call to a doctor asking him whether we can have hypoglycemia (it was late afternoon) despite having breakfast and lunch, and he said yes. I don't understand this either. Any input would be appreciated. Thank you and Happy New Year to All.
Avatar n tn well this could be the hypoglycemia, i too have it but dont often have symptoms because i eat constantly and eat candy often. but i am no doctor so you should definately ask your doctor about it. hypoglycemia seems to be thought of as not serious, but in fact its just as serious as diabetes, and also can progress like diabetes. you may have been told this 5 years ago but it may have progressed to a higher level. it could be worse. you need to have your doctor check your blood sugar levels.
Avatar n tn Avoid too much of tea, coffee, smoking and spicy food. Please discuss this with your doctor and get yourself investigated accordingly. Take care!
Avatar n tn MY MOTHER TOLD ME I ALWAYS HAD THE SHAKES WHEN I WAS A BABY. IN THE PAST SIX MONTHS I HAVE HAD RE OCCURING BOUTS OF HYPOGLYCEMIA AND AFTER EVERY MEAL FEEL EXCESSIVLY TIERD. I HAVE SYMPTOMS AFTER HAVING COFFEE IN THE MORNING. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED THAT I GET A RESTLESS LEG WHEN I LAY DOWN TO GO TO BED AND FEEL VERY TIERD BUT UNABLE TO GO TO SLEEP. ALWAYS THIRSTY AND FREQUENTLY URINATE. I AM WORRIED THAT I MAY NOW BE DIABETIC IS THIS POSSIBLE?
Avatar f tn Endocrine gland related conditions like hyperthyroidism, acromegaly and glucose control disorders (diabetes and hypoglycemia both) all result in increased sweating and heat in the body. Diabetes your husband has. Pheochromocytoma, cancers, carcinoid syndromes, tuberculosis and other infections too can cause increased sweating and heat. It can also be due to low blood pressure. Get his thyroid and adrenal gland function tested also. Avoid too much of tea, coffee, smoking and spicy food.
Avatar n tn i take my medication as prescribed and was told to LIMIT sugar and carbohydrate intake.my sugar is usually 65-70 when i first wake up and stays stable thoughout the day (i don't check it if i don't feel sick). lately, for the past few months anyway, if i eat anything sweet at all, ex: sugar in my coffee is the usual culprit, about an hour late my sugar drops to around 40 and i can barely make it to the fridge to get OJ. why is this suddenly happening?
1623390 tn?1299472340 Hi there. Anxiety, hypoglycemia, excessive coffee and tea can also cause tremors, essential tremor, medications like anti depressants, lithium and Parkinson’s disease and hyperthyroidism. Weakness could also be due to cervical disc changes including degeneration, prolapsed, spondylosis etc. that can be diagnosed with an MRI cervical spine. You should consult a neurologist for a detailed neurological evaluation.
Avatar n tn Have you had a glucose tolerance test to see if your body produces too much insulin as a reaction when you eat? This is a different test from having a simple blood sugar test -- you must drink a sugary solution and blood is drawn several times to see how your body is reacting. Unfortunately, when people have what is called REACTIVE HYPOGLYCEMIA (when the body reacts by over-producing insulin, which causes hypoglycemia), it can be difficult to show in a test.
Avatar n tn Endocrine gland related conditions like hyperthyroidism, acromegaly and glucose control disorders (diabetes and hypoglycemia both) all result in increased sweating. Pheochromocytoma, cancers, carcinoid syndromes, tuberculosis and other infections too can cause increased sweating. It can also be due to low blood pressure. Get your thyroid and adrenal gland function tested. Wear loose clothes. Carry an astringent and a deodorant. Do not be over anxious about this as this will increase sweating.
Avatar f tn Coffee, Coffee,Coffee i had to have some last night and poof my headache went away.... yay...
1778927 tn?1381878747 There are actually two types of hypoglycemia, one is known as drug-related hypoglycemia and happens almost exclusively in diabetics and the second is called non-drug-related hypoglycemia and can be further divided into FASTING hypoglycemia, in which hypoglycemia occurs after NOT eating, and reactive hypoglycemia, in which hypoglycemia occurs as a reaction TO eating, usually of carbohydrates.
Avatar n tn Like cb I am a volunteer and certainly not qualified to give you any medical information and have no first hand experience. But I did do a search on Reactive Hypoglycemia and found several interesting sites you might want to check out.
Avatar n tn You may not know that a dry mouth which can feel like thirst is one of the symptoms of hypoglycemia as well as diabetes. And logic tells us that if your mouth is dry and you are drinking lots of fluids, you will urinate often. I am a tightly-controlled type 1 diabetic, and the dry mouth feeling that I get when my glucose is low is almost identical to the sensation of having high blood sugar.
Avatar m tn yes, i was diagnosed with hypoglycemia of some kind, at the doctors office my blood pressure was 70/50 i felt dizzy, its always low, and my resting heart rate is 45 or so , and i do smoke which i think is wierd, i used to exercise a little, plus i also take klonopin and zoloft......
