Hypoglycemia and caffeine

Common Questions and Answers about Hypoglycemia and caffeine

hypoglycemia

Avatar f tn Take Omeprazole empty stomach in morning and an antacid gel at bedtime. Refrain from smoking, alcohol, fuzzy drinks, caffeine, and spicy food. See if this helps. Also get your BP checked to see if it is not too high or too low. It can also be stress and lack of proper sleep. If it does not then you will have to consult a doctor to run tests to rule out thyroid problems, ear problems, pinched cervical spinal nerves, epilepsies, heart problems, etc. Take care!
Avatar n tn you may want to call your local pharmacist and ask if your symptoms (and possibly hypoglycemia) can be an odd side effect of any or all of these antibiotics, and if so, if there are any that do not have this affect. You might also ask if hypoglycemic symptoms could be the result of an allergy to these drugs.
Avatar n tn Is hypoglycemia the same as diabetes? What's the difference between type 1 and type2 diabetes? is it the age of the person that makes the difference between the two types?
Avatar n tn He has been battling hypoglycemia ever sisnce. We have been in and out of ICUs and all they can do is give him Dextrose 10% IVs a few days and send him home afterwards until it happens again. We are told it has something to do with when he eats and the food sits in his stomach a hormone or something chemical stimulates the pancreas to shoot EXCESSIVE insulin. Our gastros can't figure it out and our endocrinologists can't either? We are in Miami, Florida.
Avatar n tn I am diabetic, but do often deal with hypoglycemia. I have relatives and friends who are reactive hypoglycemics -- the worst has to avoid caffeine as well as high-glycemic index foods.
Avatar n tn I would suggest that you look very carefully at his diet, avoiding all high-glycemic index foods and caffeine. Keep some small juice boxes or cans handy wherever you are, and if he complains of headache, fatigue, or if he seems cold for no reason, you may want to offer some juice to bring sugar levels up. If I were you, I would ask to be referred to a juvenile diabetes specialist, who can tell you first-hand that seizures can be caused by severe hypoglycemia.
Avatar n tn m wondering if the underlying culprit might be stress. The stress drove you to overdo caffeine and then sugar -- perhaps you need to nurture your body and allow yourself to rest when you're tired. A terrific trick is to incorporate regular exercise into your routine, if your doc agrees. Both the physical workout and also the hormonal impact of exercise lead to better sleep and better coping with life's stresses.
Avatar n tn Your symptoms of headaches, shakes and lightheadedness sound like hypoglycemia, which is LOW blood sugar. Other symptoms would be if you get hot and break out in a sweat, find yourself feeling confused or perhaps depressed or irritable, or find yourself yawning for no reason. This can happen to people when they have not eaten in a long time or if they eat something that has a lot of quickly digested carbohydrates that cause the pancreas to be stimulated too much.

Avatar n tn My husband and I figured it out by process of elimination. When she was born she was lactose intolerant, but gradually grew out of it by age 2. When she eats certain foods (ie; Cake, anything with HFCS or Coco) her body starts to react as if she has a cold. Clear runny nose, fever, occasional chills and in some cases has thrown up the said food. What is this? Does it have a name? Do other children or adults experience this?
Avatar n tn Recently, a friend of mine, who thought she had hypoglycemia for the past 10 years or so, stopped caffeine altogether and her shakiness disappeared. Just something to consider. If you need advice after having determined if diabetes is the cause, please post again. Good luck to you.
Avatar n tn I experienced the normal caffeine crash and then later the next day, I decided to get a pizza. About an hour after eating the pizza, I checked my sugar to see if it was low (i got a meter to check for suspected hypoglycemia). The reading was 297. This was back in october. I checked frequently to make sure everything was ok. It peaked at 150 a few times but nothing more. Then a week ago, I had a peak reading of 207. Then it went back to normal.
Avatar n tn Eat some protein with foods that have carbs so as to slow down the digestion and absorption of those carbs, and avoid sugary caffeinated drinks, for caffeine can be a real problem for people who deal with hypoglycemia. Some people find that they can stave off hypoglycemia by eating small snacks often throughout the day rather than huge meals. I do wish you the very best. And I wish you safety during your tour in Iraq.
Avatar m tn I've been suffering on and off from what I think is some kind of metabolic disorder or low blood sugar level. I've always gotten the typical irritability/shakiness when hungry ever since I was little, but it seems really out of hand right now. Before a meal/when I'm hungry, I have all the symptoms of hypoglycemia and have to eat NOW to feel better. So I'll eat a snack or my usual meal, but about 30mins to 1hour later I get tired, weak, lightheaded and hot flushes.
Avatar n tn In general, we need to find medical professionals with whom we can discuss and work well. Whether you have ongoing hypoglycemia or eventually become diabetic, you need a *sustainable* life style. Often adult-onset "anything" is difficult because, as adults we've developed some habits that may work against us. If you need to create some new healthier habits, do jump at the opportunity.
Avatar n tn Take OTC omeprazole 20mg empty stomach everyday along with OTC antacids during the day. Avoid too much of caffeine, tea, fried food and drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic fuzzy ones. Avoid heavy exercises within 4 hours of a heavy meal. Raise the head end of the bed by pillows to 30 degrees. Go to bed at least 2 hours after food. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar n tn Eating small frequent meals (every few hours) consisting of wholewheat carbs lean protein and some healthy fat-totaling 250-300 cals should keep your blood sugar steady and help you avoid the crash that gives you the shakes, dizzys and headaches. Caffeine and sugar are best avoided because they spike your blood sugar quickly leading to a big blood sugar crash-also leaving you feeling yucky.
1773104 tn?1314155711 Certainly hypoglycemia can trigger anxiety and panic, but rarely would it be the sole cause behind it. It is common for someone new to anxiety to do serious soul searching to try and find a logical "reason" behind the new emergence of anxiety and panic. We turn into detectives and try to find a sensible reason why it showed up (most times seemingly "out of the blue").
Avatar n tn The causes of Restless leg syndrome are peripheral neuropathies, vitamin and minerals deficiencies, lumbosacral radiculopathy, spinal stenosis, excess caffeine intake, hypoglycemia, and hypothyroidism. He needs to undergo spinal radio imaging, blood sugar and thyroid status to rule out the cause. Pertaining to this I suggest him to consult a neurologist to rule out the cause and treatment accordingly. He may have to take vitamin B-complex supplementation.
Avatar m tn Hi, Palpitations can be a due to multiple reasons like overexertion, caffeine, alcohol, hyperthyroidism, cardiac ailments and panic disorders.
